Finding The Best Car Speaker Systems
The car speaker system was becoming a crucial part of my life. I listened to music that was more high fidelity than I used to, and I thought I should have a more high fidelity sound. Especially because of the amount of time I spend in the car, having a good car audio systems seemed like an excellent investment. It turns out that selecting car speaker systems is a little bit harder than it sounds. The problem is that there is no good way to evaluate the different car speaker systems. You can read Consumer Reports and look at their opinions, but musical tastes are different in different people.
With home audio systems, you can go to the store and listen to them. You can tell right there basically what they are going to sound like. With car speaker systems, however, you can do no such thing. The shape of the car will affect the sound so much that you will never know until you get it installed. You have to be willing to take a risk, or you have to know exactly what you want already.
In the end, I went for months and months without getting a new car speaker stereo system installed. The current speaker system that I had was pretty good and I was not suffering for it, but as soon as I started thinking about the new sound system, it started to sound terrible to my ears. I knew that I had to invest in new car speaker systems pretty soon, or I would not be able to listen to music in my automobile.
The answer came to me quite by chance. I was meeting an old friend for lunch and my car broke down. He gave me a ride in his car, and I had a chance to listen to his car speaker systems. Instead of being upset about being stranded, I was delighted by what I heard. When I get my car fixed in the shop, I had the same car stereo speakers installed.
Insider Information on Auto Repairs
Believe it or not, there is an industry out there that specifically looks out on and actually promote auto repairs. Such a racket is not only unethical, it is also inappropriate and unnecessary. Still, there are those who do it – for the sake of one reason and one reason alone — money.
The following are discovered and frowned upon scams that have been already charged. Yet they do still require your utmost attention. Read on and be aware as well as be wary so as to not be a victim further from such rip-offs.
The repair scare
It was in 1992 when people discovered and got scared when everyone learned that the Auto Center at Sears were actually promoting, and even made it an actual competition among its staff, the number of any additional car repairs that came in to the extent that the one who was able to gather in the most car repairs was declared as a quota winner.
Though Sears, at first, did not want to admit it. Sears was actually giving out commissions and even established contests, declaring as a winner anyone who were able to bring in the most auto repairs. This discovery became even more shocking when it was learned that the prizes for such contests even included a cruise and ten thousand dollars in cash.
When Sears was confronted with the issue, their claim was that the repairs they do were merely measures that were done in order to prevent any other car faults. Although they did later admit their mistakes and agreed to fork up a total of eight million dollars in order to settle the charges filed against them in California. The damage has been done though, and the impression created by such allegations is enough to make anyone suspect any auto repair shop as similarly engaging in such an illicit trade.
Thankfully, they were able to make amends to a total of nine hundred thousand of their customers. Plus, they no longer were using commissions, quotas and contests to promote car repairs.
However, there may still be instances wherein large chains of auto repair shops still resort to advertisements that deceive or there may be auto shops that engage in fraud. There may still be shops out there which replace good auto parts with faulty ones.
Investigations done undercover as well as lawsuits have been filed against such chains. Still, it does help being alert and aware.
Caught in the act
In 1999, a television station in Los Angeles made undercover discoveries at auto repair shops – including those from Goodyear, Purrfect Auto, Pep Boys – wherein repairs were done and recommended on cars that did not need any repairs.
In 1998, it was known there have been ninety auto repair shops found in five counties in which forty percent of these sold services and provided car repairs that were unnecessary. These shops even charged its customers services and repairs that were never even done!
Such shops were named as Midas Muffler and Brake Shops, Purrfect Auto Service, Econo Lube N’ Tune as well as Tuneup Masters.
All in all, it helps to know such information in order to not be a victim of such unscrupulous methods. Awareness and alertness is important. It also helps if one searches through the internet and learn how good or how bad a particular auto repair shop’s record is. Knowledge is power.
Making Time for Time Management
How often do you find yourself wishing there were 48 hours in a day? Do you find that your to-do list is frequently left untouched? Managing time effectively is one of the key challenges for a successful entrepreneur.
As an entrepreneur, you don’t usually have the luxury of a large army of employees, focused on clear-cut tasks. You probably juggle numerous roles and find it near impossible to do justice to all of them. Time is one of your most important resources and there are ways of stretching it. Time management will teach you how.
Break it up: Break up your large tasks into small and manageable ones. Start by estimating the effort needed to accomplish a particular job. Write out a sequence of activities that are needed in order to complete it, along with an estimate of how long each will take. Now take them on one at a time, and periodically monitor how much time you’re actually taking, compared to the plan. This is a very important part of time management, and with practice you’ll be able to get it right!
Prioritize your work: List out all the tasks you must carry out to achieve your goal and put them in order of importance. This enables you to tackle the most important and beneficial jobs first. If there are too many high priority jobs, you’ll either have to rearrange your schedule or delegate some of the work. This helps you focus on doing things that are really critical.
The 80:20 rule says that 80% of unfocused effort generates only 20% of results and the remaining 80% of results are achieved with only 20% of the effort!
Plan the unplanned: Things rarely turn out the way we intend them to. Time management teaches you to keep aside some time for those inevitable crises. Often not budgeting for those extra hours might itself create a crisis!
Keep an activity log: We already talked about the need to monitor progress. You can do this by maintaining an activity log, which helps you track the way you use your time – how much time are you actually spending in productive work and how much are you wasting? Are there some tasks that could be done in a more efficient manner? The goal of time management is to answer such questions. Analyze the log at the end of each project to identify possible areas of improvement.
Make reminder lists: Unless you have the memory of an elephant, it’s not likely that you’ll remember everything that you need to do. Make a to-do list for the day or week. This will ensure that you don’t forget to do something, or worse, miss that all important customer appointment!
Do the unpleasant bit first: Procrastination is our biggest obstacle to effective time management. We all have our pain points, and it’s only natural to put-off those jobs for as long as possible… or when they’ll probably blow up in our faces. Discipline yourself to do at least one “unpleasant” task each day, and watch the results.
Ease your work plan: Hey, good time management isn’t only about work. Make sure you’ve set some time aside for your personal life as well. It’s amazing how you can improve your effectiveness at work by striking the right balance.
Peanut Butter – What’s In That?
Peanut Butter is as “American” as baseball and apple pie!
It’s a staple in the vast majority of American households, if not every kitchen, and has been, for generations.
It goes great on and with many things including; white bread, crackers, celery, ice cream, bananas, milkshakes and much more.
There’s even websites dedicated to peanut butter such as PeanutButterLovers.com.
There’s no doubt, Peanut Butter offers some nutritional value. One ounce of roasted peanuts provides 10% of the daily value of folate, the naturally occurring form of the B vitamin folic acid, recommended for the reduction of birth defects and lowered heart disease risk.
But there is also no arguing the fact that traditional, non-organic or all natural brands also offer some not-so-nutritional ingredients and has serious allergy implications for many. Let’s take a look at the big picture.
INGREDIENTS:
Roasted Peanuts Sugar Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Cottonseed and Rapeseed) Salt
Let’s take a closer look at each of these ingredients:
Roasted Peanuts:
A closer look at peanuts and one learns that they are not even in the “nut family”. They are actually legumes related to peas, lentils, chickpeas and other beans.
But for as small as peanuts are, they pack a HUGE punch in terms of nutrition. They offer the following nutritional values:
monounsaturated fats – healthy fat good for a strong heart vitamin E niacin folate protein magnesium resveratrol, the phenolic antioxidant found in red grapes and red wine
And there are numerous studies that prove a diet high in peanuts can reduce cardiovascular disease.
Peanut Allergies
Although allergic reactions can occur to virtually any food, research studies on food allergy consistently report more problems with some foods than with others. It turns out that peanuts are one of the foods most commonly associated with allergic reactions.
Many schools across the U.S. are banning ALL peanut products and even products manufactured in plants where peanuts have been processed due to the high number of children allergic to them and the severe nature of the allergic reactions.
But if you are not allergic to peanuts, partaking in them daily can be a great way to help your heart and body stay healthy and strong.
Sugar:
Although less harmful than High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), sugar offers no nutritional value.
Sugar is known to cause tooth decay, obesity, and hyper-activity, among other things.
It is added to Peanut Butter to enhance the taste and flavor.
Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils:
In Peanut Butter, most often includes Cottonseed and Rapeseed oils. Let’s take a closer look at each:
Cottonseed Oil:
Wikipedia: Cottonseed oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the cotton plant after the cotton lint has been removed. It must be refined to remove gossypol, a naturally occurring toxin that protects the cotton plant from insect damage. Therefore, unrefined cottonseed oil is sometimes used as a pesticide. In its natural unhydrogenated state, cottonseed oil, like all vegetable oils, has no cholesterol. It also contains no trans fatty acids. However, it does contain over 50% Omega-6 fatty acids and only trace amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids, and the imbalance is considered unhealthy if not used in moderation or balanced elsewhere in the diet. Further, these polyunsaturated fats can potentially go rancid during the extraction process.
Barbecue How to’s and Two BBQ Recipes
Barbecuing is a widespread and honored tradition. Three out of four american families own a barbecue grill and use it, on average, four to five times per month. What better way is there to have fun with friends and family than to have a barbecue?
Before putting the meat on the barbecue it is a good idea to set it out of the refrigerator for about an hour to let it warm up. This will make the meat cook quicker and it will be juicier.
Food safety is an important issue so always be sure that you cook the meat thoroughly. Cut the meat in the thickest part to be sure that the juices are clear to be sure that it is completely cooked. Always be sure to keep utensils used to handle the raw meat separate from those you use to handle the cooked meat. Cross contamination of bacteria can be as dangerous as eating raw meat. You want your barbecue to be both fun and safe for everyone so always be careful.
Barbecued Spare Ribs are a classic American barbecue meal, made from pork. This version is cooked in the oven, not on a barbecue, and uses a barbecue sauce with a distinct Asian flavor, featuring soy sauce, rice vinegar, and garlic.
Remember to give your barbecue a good cleaning after each use. If you have a gas grill, you can turn the grill on for ten or fifteen minutes to allow it self clean. Charcoal grills need to be cleaned with soap and water using a stiff wire brush.
Here are a couple really good barbecue recipes you can try at your next barbecue
Grilled Stuffed Pork Chops
Ingredients:
4 thick rib pork chops, (1″ to 1 1/4″ thick is best) 3/4 cup dry breadcrumbs Large pinch dried and crumbled rosemary Large pinch dried and crumbled marjoram 1 Tbsp. melted butter 1/2 cup minced sweet onion 1 small clove garlic, minced salt and/or pepper to taste
Make several shallow cuts in each pork chop with a knife.
In a large bowl mix the breadcrumbs, herbs, butter, onion, garlic, and salt.
Stuff the mixture into the cuts you made.
Grill the pork chops at medium to high heat for ten minutes on each side side. To make sure the chops are evenly cooked they should be turned several times. Grill them for five minutes or so then turn them over and let that side cook for 5 minutes. Repeat this process two or three times or until the chops are grilled to your satisfaction.
Barbecued Spare Ribs
Here is a classic American barbecue with a twist. This version uses a barbecue sauce that has a distinct Asian flavor, featuring soy sauce, rice vinegar, and garlic.
Ingredients:
2 pounds pork spare ribs 1/4 cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons honey 2 tablespoons hoisen sauce 2 tablespoons white vinegar 1 tablespoons sake 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground white pepper 2 tablespoons chicken stock freshly ground black pepper and salt to taste
Put the spare ribs in a large casserole dish in one layer.
Using a large bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients. Pour this mixture over the spare ribs being sure to completely coat the meat. Let this marinate overnight, baste occasionally unless the meat is completely covered.
Throw the ribs on the grill and let them cook to your satisfaction. Turn them several times during the process and baste them with the marinade sauce a few times.
What Role Does Your Backyard Bird Garden Have In Natural Bird Habitats?
All yards can, potentially, be natural bird habitats.
Even though our neighborhoods occupy what was once their natural habitat, it needn’t be a catastrophe. The right selection and location of plants will offer a nearly natural habitat for wild birds.
Amazingly, song birds eagerly accept this substitution, as our backyard bird gardens become an extension of the surrounding natural habitat.
Converting your backyard into a bird garden can be the focus of many family activities. In fact, just watching and feeding wild birds is a great way for families to start practicing bird conservation… right at home.
Keep in mind that those family members with limited mobility can still enjoy nature from the deck or patio, even a window. Imagine the impact of a bird garden for seniors and shut-ins, and for the ill or disabled.
Bird gardens are perfect conservation classrooms. Discovering the different bird species in your area can be very exciting.
You will need a good, easy-to-use field guide, such as Birds of North America, or Peterson’s East and West. An online search for “bird field guides” will provide you with many more.
You will learn that birds are identified according to their physical characteristics. For example, you can easily see the difference between a chicken and a robin.
These characteristics are helpful in identifying the birds that visit your backyard bird habitat : Size – overall ; Shape of their bodies; Coloring; Special markings; Shapes of their beaks; Shape of their wings and their feet while in flight.
Your family, especially the kids, will become experts at distinguishing bird calls. Each species is unique, and most are obvious. A Sparrow’s “chipping” is quite plain in comparison to a Cardinal’s lovely “trilling” song.
A natural bird habitat can actually be a neighborhood of backyards (from a bird’s point of view)… and each backyard gardener contributes to the success of this unusual bird habitat.
So, the question remains… just how vital is your individual backyard garden to song wild birds?
If you have selected and located your plantings correctly, wild birds will treat your backyard garden as a natural continuation of their normal habitat.
And the answer is… you and your bird garden are absolutely vital to their survival!

Top five trucks for gas mileage
A few years ago, people would scoff at you if you told them that you were looking for trucks with the best gas mileage. But, as truck sales began to slip downwards, manufacturers started giving due importance to this factor. Today, there has been a dramatic change in the scenario.
The rising costs of gas, has propelled potential truck buyers to go for trucks that can meet their gas mileage demands. Truck makers have now taken firm steps to improve the fuel economy of their makes at all levels.
Usually the ranking of the top five trucks based on gas mileage is founded on a combination factors. The prime parameters are the fuel economy rating given by EPA, the transmission of the vehicle, and its inherent popularity amongst car buyers. The formula for calculation for most gas mileage rankings is a combination of the city mpg rating, which forms 55 percent of criterion, and the highway mpg rating that completes the remaining criteria.
It is really very difficult to bring forth a list that enumerates the top 5 trucks on the basis of fuel efficiency. Not one, not two, but three trucks hold the first rank. This spot is shared by the 2006 Ford Ranger one of the premier trucks that are out in the market today. Ford has made it a point to come out with trucks that offer the best gas mileage. This is why most of their newer models find a place on the best gas mileage list year after year.
However, all the trucks, which feature in the list, have the same engine; the 2006 Ford Ranger is a supremely refined version of its older model that came out in 2005. It has the better off-road capability then other trucks in the rankings and is one of the best alternatives in your search for a truck giving you the best gas mileage.
The completely redesigned 2006 Toyota Tacoma comes next in the list. The Toyota Tacoma is one of the roomier trucks available in the market and its looks are an epitome of sophistication. The only disadvantage of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma is its price tag. It is more expensive then the others.
If you are looking for something on the cheaper side then the 2006 Mazda B-series is the truck that you must go for. A fuel-efficient truck delivers on its promise. It is called in some circles as the bargain pickup truck. Don’t expect styling and comfort but you do get an unashamed practicality with this vehicle.
The Toyota Tundra is the next in line of your picks. It comes with 4.0 liter V6 engine that is geared to give you competitive gas mileage. The truck gives you a mileage of 20 /mpg on the highway and a 16/mpg when you drive in the city.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes a close fifth in the rankings. It comes with a mild hybrid engine that enables the electric motor to keep the vehicles running when idle so the gas engine can be shut off.
Description: When looking for trucks with great gas mileage, the list can be pretty large. You will have a wide variety to choose from. Select the one that best suits your requirement. This article lists out the top five!
Microwave Ovens – Sterilizer or a cooker!
So you are going to disinfect your dishcloths and kitchen sponges in your microwave oven rather than using your germ ridden dishwasher!
This is a good idea as your microwave oven can kill 99% of pathogens that inhabit your sponges and dishcloths within two minutes as a study in the Journal of Environmental Health reported.
It is even better when, on an average, a hundred thousand people report cases of food poisoning every month in the UK and the damp and warm kitchens are known to be great breeding grounds for germs!
However, be sure that the sponges and clothes are well soaked in water or you may end up with a nasty fire. There are already reports of such an accident from Shropshire’s Fire Service.
Scientists add that it is just enough if you repeat this process every second day. They also assume that it is the heat rather than the microwave radiation that brings this benefit for us.
You can also use a pressure cooker to sterilise your dishcloths and sponges if you do not want to use your microwave oven for this purpose.
But what about keeping your microwave oven clean from leftover food particles!
This is one of the toughest jobs encountered in our day to day life. It is not always possible to rinse your oven after every use! And often we find that the container gets hot!
To fight this problem you can use silicon sheets. There is a cavity protection system available on the market that uses these silicon sheets to keep microwave ovens free from leftovers. These systems also help to keep the container cool as you can cook almost fifty percent of daily food off the base.
You can reuse these silicon sheets if you wish; however, they are only reusable if there is not much spillage on them. To add to this, silicon sheets do not react with food ingredients and thus there is hardly any threat to your health.
This is also a good way to avoid unwanted blendings of smell and taste of different foods. Along with this, a messy microwave oven will cook slower and more unevenly.
You can also use some other methods to keep your microwave ovens clean but do not use any aluminium foils or other metallic objects.
The following tips may prove useful to keep microwave ovens clean:
1) Cover your dish properly before cooking
2) Do not heat sealed objects
3) Take special care while cleaning the edges and cavities of your oven and clean them regularly
4) Use utensils designed specifically for microwave ovens
5) Do not use abrasive pads or powders to clean your oven
Bring The Algarve Back Home with You
Portugal is a wonderful country to forget that weight loss plan and dive into the national food.
Don’t worry if you don’t enjoy great food at the start of the day though, portuguese often miss out on breakfast , most often deciding on a continental style breakfast of coffee and a pastry. Quite often you will usually see locals enjoying a quick snack in a cafe on their way in to work.
Lunchtime and Evening meals are a entirely different and greatly enjoyable experience.
The portuguese enjoy their food, and you are likely to be given large portions when eating in cafes. The midday meal is often a lengthy experience, generally taken between 1.00pm and 3.00pm, and regardless of the weather, portuguese eat cooked food in a cafe. The evening meal is eaten between 7.00pm and 9.00pm, and again, generally is a hot meal.
The beauty of Portuguese cuisine can be described as ‘simple ingredients, superbly prepared’.
Portuguese cooking is generally based on the best quality, fresh locally produced produce, generally fish, meat, olive oil, tomatoes and spices.
A good portuguese meal should ideally begin with a traditional portuguese soup.
The best known portuguese soup, is known as caldo verde, a wholesome, tasty soup made with shredded kale and cabbage, potatoes and chourio sausage. Caldo Verde comes from the Minho province, but is easily available throughout Portugal, from lisbon to the Algarve holiday resorts.
Here is a Caldo verde recipe that will let you bring the taste of portugal into your own home

A pinch of salt
3 lg. potatoes, 1″ cubes
three carrots, chopped into 2.5cm cubes
1.5 lb kale, well chopped, or 1 package frozen kale, defrosted
1/2 cabbage, chopped
half a package macaroni (elbow)
1 tin cannelloni beans (opt.)
1 chili, (remove seeds), well chopped
1/3 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Olive Oil
Instructions:
—————–

Replace the pot lid and cook for 45 minutes or until the kale is cooked.
When the kale is ready, add the olive oil potatoes & pasta.
Occasionally stir the kale soup to make sure that the chopped potatoes and macaroni don’t end up stuck to the bottom of the saucepan.
Cook slowly (keeping the saucepan lid on) until potatoes and pasta are perfectly cooked..
You can serve this soup as a starter or as a wholesome main course.
The Top 7 Techniques of Persuasive Language
No matter what you do and what you want to achieve in your life, there will come a time when you need to persuade someone to see things the way that you do. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they will agree with you, but you will want to understand the basics of persuasive language in order to increase your success in these kinds of situations.
A metaphorical method
Just as in good writing, using other words can help you to persuade someone to your viewpoint. Some of this isn’t meant to be deceptive, but rather it will help to allow the other person to see what you mean if they can not understand it in the way that you are describing it. For example, if you’re trying to explain the benefits of a new water heater, you might want to describe it as the money maker because of its efficiency and better energy consumption.
Change what you mean
Another way to use language to persuade people is to change what you mean what you are talking. This isn’t necessarily about changing what you think, but rather changing what it sounds like by changing the meaning. Better put, when you want to change the way that a romantic or business partner acts, you will try to change your persuasion into seeming to benefit the relationship itself, rather than to change the behavior. You don’t talk about what they’re doing wrong; you talk about what you want them to do so that the relationship can be better.
The words you choose
People can become persuaded by the details rather than the bigger ideas. When you see a commercial for the newest technological advance, don’t you find that you get swept up in the new features rather than the overall use? When you’re trying to persuade someone into seeing something the same way you do, you can try to use more descriptive words in order to make them see the situation the way that you do.
Sales techniques
When sales people want to persuade someone to do something or buy something, they use various forms of persuasive phrases and words. For example, you can say something like, ‘Well, that’s good, but this is better’ or something like, ‘That’s not all.’ Think about your favorite commercials and advertisements and slogans that they might have used. Try to see how you might be able to incorporate their slick moves into your next argument.
Punctuate for them
When you’re writing something down for your partner or in a business situation, using important punctuation can help to signify the parts that are most important to you. However, you can go overboard with this as well. Too many exclamation points can show that you might be a little over-anxious or excited. They can also look like you don’t know what words to emphasize so you just emphasize them all with these pieces of punctuation.
Words that convey emotion
When talking with someone that you know well, you will want to use words and phrases that they already associate with something good. For example, in a romantic or personal relationship, you can allude to inside or private jokes as a way to make your current points. Or you can use words that have special meanings to you in order to make the rest of your argument seem relevant to their needs.
