Three Simple Steps to Having a Great Day!

Many times I close an email or an article by saying, “Decide to have a great day!” Most of the time, I end my Blog by saying, “Decide to have a great day!” I really mean it! Decide to have a great day. You should make that decision as soon as possible every morning.

I’m sure you’ve heard expressions like, “Well, let’s see what the day brings.” Is that to say we have no control over whatever happens today, good, or bad? Are we just supposed to watch and see what kind of day comes toward us?

Does, “whatever the day brings,” mean that if you have a bad day, it was just meant to be, because that’s what the day brought? I say, “No.”

I believe that you and I have a choice. I believe that we have that choice every single day.

The first step is to decide. Yes, I said, “decide!” Make a conscious decision the first thing in the morning to have a great day. Regardless of the challenges and obstacles, decide to have a great day.

Step one: Decide to have a great day.

The second step is to anticipate and expect to have a great day today. Keep in mind that this could very well be the greatest day of your life so far!

Now think logically for a minute. We are either in control of our lives or, our lives are being controlled. Why not look for, and expect great things to happen today? Why shouldn’t this new day be a great day? As a matter of fact, this day could very well be the greatest day of your life so far!

You might think that to even consider that today could be the greatest day of your life so far, is really a stretch. Consider this. Suppose you knew ahead of time that today was indeed going to be the greatest day of your life so far. Would you call it off? Would you cancel the day? Absolutely not!

The question is, when are you going to have the greatest day of your life so far? It might as well be today!

Step two: Anticipate and expect to have a great day.

The third step in having a great day is to handle whatever comes your way with the attitude of someone who is having a great day. (You do have a choice.) For most people, if good things happen, then it’s a good day. If something bad happens, then it’s a lousy day.

Why let the challenges and obstacles that come up determine what kind of day you will have? You can decide to have a great day and then expect a great day. Remember, any challenges are just minor interruptions to your great day! How you decide to handle the daily challenges and obstacles will make a major difference in the kind of day that you will have.

Starting out the day by deciding and expecting to have a great day will put you in the right frame of mind to handle those challenges and obstacles. Instead of wondering what’s going to go wrong next, you will be focused on, looking for and expecting great things to happen.

You are setting your own course for the day, instead of just being another boxcar on the train tracks. You’ve decided to travel on the exciting road of life instead of running in place on the “let’s see what happens” tread mill.

History And Purpose Of Education In The United States

Education of the Minorities By the late 19th century educational debates were still raging on “who was to be educated?” and “how this education was to be carried out?’ Such philosophers as John Dewey and (closer to us) Jean Piaget understood that “all knowledge has a social origin, and the interest of the child are the primary source of learning” (Spring, 1989). The same author said that after the Civil War black leaders, particularly W.E.Dubois and Booker T. Washington debated not the importance of schooling but the kind of education for the Negroes. Mr. Washington, considered by many as a traitor, would acquiesce with the 1895 Plessy v Ferguson decision that said under segregation schools can be separate and remain equal. According to Perkinson (1991), Washington addressed publicly in 1895:

“…The Negro did not want social equality,

that he did not need social equality with the whites.

Nor did he want or need political or civil equality…

but cooperation with their white friends.

Negro education should be devoted

to the practical education of earning a living…”

Conversely, Dubois vehemently rejected that position and argued for equal rights for the colored people. During that epoch, diverse segments of society had been restless protecting their interests after the inaction of Plessy v Fugerson. The US Supreme Court opined in many cases in favor of minorities. Among those cases, worth noting are Pierce v Society of Sisters (1922, unconstitutionality of establishing schools only) and Virginia State Board of Education v Barnette (1940, unconstitutionality of forcing Jehovah witnesses to salute the flag). None of them had delivered a more devastating blow to the then racist establishment than Brown v Board of Education of Topeka (1954).

The Brown decision invigorated the positions of minority leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King who had long said that the reality of equality will require extensive adjustments in the way of life of the white majority, an adjustment that many are unwilling to make. (Smith & Chunn,1989). Arguing that “segregated education is inherently unequal”, the young and flamboyant lawyer Thurgood Marshall (later US Supreme Court Justice), helped Brown open the valve to a flurry of other similar legislations in order to right the educational wrongs done to minorities. In fact, Perkinson (1991) noted that black parents realized that their children were failing in schools not because they were culturally deprived (as racist views had purported) but because schools were incompetent to teach black students who, indeed, had a culture, a different culture.

I believe that, to many folks, it was not a matter of how to educate our culturally different children, but a deliberate case of not willing to do so. In fact, Shor and Freire (1987), “It is not education which shapes society, but on the contrary, it is society who shapes education according to the interests of those in power. In contrast, Perkinson (1991) responded, “By 1965, the schools had polarized American society into self-satisfied whites and victimized blacks, into indifferent suburbanites and despondent city dwellers, and creating winners and losers. These two views collided on the root cause of the plight of the blacks. But both remained ferocious advocates of the rights of the downtrodden, including the children of the immigrants.

Mother Cow Report Card

In one respect, possibly the best person to do a preliminary assessment of a cow protection program is an accountant, because of his or her training to evaluate performance in terms of names, dates and numbers. These factors reveal a lot about the quality of cow protection, even before the project is visited.

Let’s evaluate the Mother Cow program by a set of standards (abbreviated here) that I posted a year ago. The point here is not to attack Mother Cow, but rather by revealing positive standards of cow protection to promote the defense of Dharma in all cow protection programs.

MONITORING AND RECORDS

1. The entire herd should be counted daily.

* Whether Mother Cow follows this standard is unknown, but probably it would not be difficult at least to count the cows still being maintained at Mother Cow.

2. Every cow should have a name.

* It appears that all Mother Cow’s milking cows have names, but it’s worth noting that the website doesn’t give names of any calves or bulls. Thus it’s harder to know what becomes of them, and less noticeable when they are missing.

3. Records should be kept with the name, sex, date of birth of each cow. When a cow or calf dies, the cause of death and date of death should be recorded. Annual records should be provided to members each year.

* Unknown. Website does not specify whether members receive an annual cow census.

4. Calf mortality should be less than 10%. In the absence of proper records, this can be determined retroactively by seeing how many cows have been milking in the last 2-3 years and determining how many of their calves are still alive.

* Website indicates over 50 calves born to 22 milking cows – yet Mother Cow states it is protecting only 12 calves. What happened to the other 40 calves?

5. Analyzed by sex, the herd should be approximately 50% cows, 50% bulls or oxen. If there are far more females than males, it’s a sign of a discrepancy – either in the organization’s incomplete understanding of cow protection, or in substandard protection for bull calves.

* Website indicates over 50 calves born to 22 milking cows – yet Mother Cow states that it has only one bull and one ox. Of the total of 70 animals, only 2 males are currently protected by Mother cow (less than 3 percent). The oxen shown in the website’s photo don’t appear to be from Mother Cow, since all the cows are taurean breeds, but the oxen shown are Indic or Brahmin breed.

6. Any cow who has taken shelter on Krsna’s land or in Krsna’s temple should never be subsequently sold, traded, given away or killed.

* Statistics show that several dozen cows are missing from the herd. We’re assured that bull calves are given to a Jain project where they will be “protected for life.” Out of site, out of mind. On one hand, if the Jain temple is protecting these cows, why not donate money directly to the Jains? On the other hand, getting rid of unprofitable cows by giving them to others makes Mother Cow’s claims of providing life-time protection unconvincing.

BREEDING AND AQUIRING COWS

7. No cow should be bred for milk production alone, without plans for the resulting calf. No cow should be bred unless there is a clear and concrete plan for the care of the calf for its entire life, which may be 10-20 years. This means there must be adequate land, adequate funding and adequate trained personnel to care for the resulting calf.

* The statement of goals indicates that cows are being bred primarily for milk production: “Our plans for expansion include the purchase of 6 acres of land (in addition to our present 3 acres of land), 40 milk cows.” Cows are not being bred to produce working oxen, nor is there any description of training the resulting bull calves, who appear to be simply unwanted offspring.

8. Cows should not be acquired based on sentiment alone. A goshalla should not allow itself to be exploited by those who “donate” animals with mixed motives.

* Mother Cow cannot be accused of this flaw.

9. Milking should be a pleasurable experience for the cow.

* Milking techniques are unknown. This is generally difficult to assess without being on-site. There seem to be enough cowherds to prevent the necessity of machine milking.

10. Milk production should not be developed primarily as a profit-making venture. “You say we must have a gosala trust, that is our real purpose. krsi-goraksya-vanijyam vaisya karma svabhava-jam, [Bg 18.44]. Where there is agriculture there must be cows. That is our mission: Cow protection and agriculture and if there is excess, trade. This is a no-profit scheme…

* It seems clear that this project has been developed primarily as a profit-making venture, which is why most of the calves are missing. It’s simply not profitable to keep them. Profit-motive, especially in a competitive capitalist system, always endangers the welfare of cows. TRAINING OF OXEN OR BULLOCKS

11. In general, all bull calves should be trained to work. As Srila Prabhupada stated, “If you do not use the bulls for plowing, one day you will say, let us cut their throats.”

* Out of 70 animals, it appears that one ox is being trained to work.

12. No ox should be overworked or worked by force only.

* Not relevant at this point, since no oxen are working.

13. In general, bull calves should be castrated by the time they are 1 year old, or whatever age is appropriate for that breed. This can be done with minimum discomfort by using a bloodless emasculator or burdizzo, which only pinches the semen tubes to achieve sterilization.

* Whether oxen are castrated before being given to the Jains is unknown.

SHELTER, GRAZING AND FEED

14. The cows’ living conditions should be clean and comfortable.

* The 30 animals who have been permitted to remain at Mother Cow appear to have clean facilities. The living conditions of animals donated to the Jain goshalla are unknown.

15. All cows should have adequate shelter.

* Again, the 30 animals who remain at Mother Cow seem to have adequate shelter. It is unknown what kind of shelter the other 40 animals have.

16. Adequate fencing should be maintained.

* Apparently the fencing is adequate since the goshalla stresses that cows are not permitted to wander the streets eating hazardous garbage. Thus they are also protected from street injuries and from slaughter by rustlers.

17. Cows must be provided sufficient grazing opportunity. And, as stated by Bhismadeva in the Mahabharata, no cow should be kept always tethered.

* Grazing opportunities unknown.

18. The program should maintain adequate pasture for animals. Generally the minimum would be at least 1/2 acre (1/4 hectare) per animal, preferably 1 acre per animal.

* 30 cows on 3 acres of land means 1/10 acre of land for each animal, probably less, because buildings occupy some land. Mother Cow plans to purchase more land, but indicates land will be for 40 more cows (and presumably their 40 more calves). “Our plans for expansion include the purchase of 6 acres of land (in addition to our present 3 acres of land), 40 milk cows, 2 fully equipped barns…” It appears that to increase profitability of the dairy, conditions will become more crowded, not less crowded.

19. Cows should be sufficiently well fed.

* It appears that the 22 milking cows are well fed. The conditions of the animals sent to the Jain goshalla are unknown.

20. Ideally, feed for the cows should be grown on site, not purchased from outside.

* Given the small amount of land, most feed must be purchased from outside, but it appears from the photos that some is grown on site.

FUNDING AND ACCOUNTING

21. The goshalla should have an accurate and clear method of keeping accounts, and members should be presented with an annual statement of accounts.

* It is unknown whether members are presented with an annual statement of accounts. Since the endeavor is set up primarily as a profit-making dairy rather than as a cow protection program, it seems doubtful that the standard of public accounting exists at this stage.

22. Ideally, funds collected for a goshalla or cow protection program should be kept separate from other accounts, such as that of a temple or community facility. Funds should not be invested in any speculative business enterprise.

* Unknown.

COWHERD TRAINING AND SUPPORT

23. Cowherds should be recognized as important members in the spiritual community.

* Whether cowherd are regarded as members of the spiritual community is unknown. The fact that their photos are highlighted on the website seems positive. When cowherds are publicly praised, they take pride in their work. This usually results in better care for the cows.

24. Ideally, the goshalla should maintain a well designed program for training cowherds and ox-power farmers.

* Training program for cowherds is unknown, but probably there is some program in place or the facilities would not look as good as they do. It is doubtful that there is a training program for teamsters, since most bull calves are sent away,

25. Cowherds should be facilitated and supported so they can have a decent, if simple, standard of living… Without proper training, facility and care of its cowherds, a cow protection program is threatened by constant turnover of staff and may eventually collapse.

* Standard of living and rate of turnover among the cowherds is unknown.

MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH

26. A goshalla should use its cow protection program as a means of attracting the public to Krsna consciousness.

*Difficult to assess at this point.

27. Activities of the cow protection program should be highlighted on community websites and during religious holidays and festivals such as Gaura Purnima, Janmastami, Govardhana Puja and Ratha Yatra. The Deities can be read accounts of the activities of the year, not only how much milk or burfi was produced, but also how many oxen were trained, how much area they plowed, how much wood they hauled, how many bushels of vegetables they produced, etc ­ showcasing the offerings of the animals to the Lord.

* Unknown.

28. A cow protection program should provide opportunity for members’ input and participation. This can be achieved through questionnaires, newsletters, workshops, and pre-festival meetings.

* Members are invited to come to the farm, and they exchange letters at Mother Cow’s public website.

CONCLUSION

Though established primarily as a profit-making dairy, Mother Cow displays interest in some aspects cow protection. An informed membership can guide this interest to greater incorporation of the principles of Dharma, especially through proper protection, training and utilization of Father Bull, which will be more in keeping with the practice of Krsna consciousness.

Working for the Future

Sometimes I wonder if my online home business is going anywhere. I question if I’m doing anything right or if it’ll just become another one of my failures in life. I’ll admit, there have been times where I’ve felt that I should cut my losses and move on. But then I think about why I’m trying to succeed in making money online in the first place.

The idea of pulling in money from the internet has fascinated me for the longest time. The thought that I could sit on a computer and do a minimal amount of work, compared to having a real job, and earn money I that I can put in a bank, buy whatever my heart desired, or help others out, was a thought that I wanted to make into a reality. I remember several years ago I saw some infomercial with Chuck Woolery on selling items on Ebay and how it could bring one financial freedom. I spent a long time researching how to profit from Ebay, and the idea of drop shippers and wholesalers and all that marketing mumbo jumbo. Unfortunately, that idea never got off the ground with me. Looking back, I guess it was too much for me to handle at the time.

Sometime later I saw a video on Youtube about some professional video gamer and how he has his own brand of computer and gaming hardware (look for “Playing Video Games for a Living” on Youtube). He said that his business would be a good way to secure his future now, since someday his hand eye coordination and reflexes will not be as good as they are now. Not only that, but he can make money doing something he loves. Now I’m a big gamer myself and I too know that, as sad as it is for me to think about, that my quick thinking skills, eyesight, and reflexes will begin to decline someday, so I won’t be able to play as well as I did in my prime. I try to make money online in hopes that I’ll be able to not only help pay my way through life, but that I’ll be able to make money by doing something I spend way too much time doing, which is being on the computer.

Am I crazy for doing this? Probably. Am I foolish for doing this? Probably even more so. But when I see that I have one more sign up, it’s proof beyond all reasonable doubt that it is possible to make a decent amount of money through the internet. That’s one more sign up towards my goal, and that makes all the work I put into this all worthwhile. It could take months, maybe even years before I start making a generous profit, but it’s from little acorns that big oak trees grow.

Earn Passive Time!

If I want to be rich and wealthy, I need to change my mindset to invest in assets that generate passive income. Becoming rich has nothing to do with how much I earn. This is what I have learned from the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. If I had earned a lot and spent on luxury items, I would be simply wasting my opportunity to accumulate wealth. In fact I would loss out to someone who had earned much lesser and invested in assets that generate passive income. In the long run, he would be able to accumulate more wealth than me.

Since it is possible to invest in assets to earn passive income, is it possible to invest in assets that generate passive time?

Before I investigate into details, let us have a common understanding of what is passive time. I define passive time as time gained to accomplish things with little or no human intervention. Just like in the case of passive income, it is earned with little or no human intervention. For example, when I invest in a property to collect rental income, there is little or no work required on my part to earn that rental income.

Based on my definition of passive time, are there assets that generate passive time? To answer this question, let look at the example of a washing machine. As we all know, a washing machine helps to wash clothes. But it helps to generate passive time too!

Firstly, a washing machine will wash the clothes automatically after I have choose the washing option and set it running. This means that I can be doing some other things while the washing machine is washing the clothes. Passive time is earned because the washing machine is washing the clothes automatically. All I need to invest is a little time to choose the washing option and set it running.

Secondly, a washing machine speeds up the washing process. Imagine if I were to manually wash my clothes, I would have to spend much longer time than the washing machine. In this sense, passive time is earned because now I can do the same amount of work in lesser time. All I need to do is to invest some time to choose, buy and install a washing machine.

In other words, an asset such as a washing machine that automates a manual process is considered to be generating passive time. Also, an asset such as a washing machine that improves the efficiency by speeding up the process is considered to generate passive time. Thus, I should be looking for assets with these two features to generate passive time.

Since I already know how to identify an asset that generates passive income, the next step will be on how to select relevant assets to fit into my life so that I can gain passive time. Before that, let me explain what do I mean by relevant asset.

A washing machine is relevant if I use it to wash my clothes. When I use it to wash my clothes, then I am earning passive time. If I do not use the washing machine at all, then it is a liability since it does not earn passive time. Just like if I have a property, I need to rent it out to earn passive income. If I do not rent it out or fail to rent it out, then I do not earn passive income. In this case, the property will be a liability based on my understanding from the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki.

To be able to identify relevant assets, the first thing I must do is to identify all the manual processes in my daily life that can be either automated or speed up or both. That is I must keep a time statements just like I need to keep a personal financial statements. A financial statements help to identify how I spend my money. Similarly, a time statements help to identify how I spend my time. In short, a time statement is like a recording of all my daily activities.

I will probably need record all my daily activities for about a few month to identify how I spend my time. Based on the list of activities that I am always doing, I need to filter through the activities and see if I can automate or speed up some of my daily activities by investing in certain assets that generates passive time. In this way, I can identify the relevant assets to invest in.

Why am I focusing so much on learning to invest time? Well, time is one of the two things that are available that I can invest so as to create wealth based on my understanding from the Rich Dad’s Series by Robert Kiyosaki. The other being money. Since I need to have more time to invest so as to create wealth, I need to learn to invest time to gain more passive time!

Aquarium and fish care assistance

How to

Fish care is extensive, since it depends on the type of fish you have. If you have damsels, which are saltwater fish then you should have a large reef tank, or marine tank. Damsels are resilient, which the fish are capable of withstanding harsh water conditions. In addition, the fish do not fuss over what they eat. Damsels however are not in distress; rather the fish can be aggressive. It is recommended that you put no more than two damsels in the same tank. If you add, more damsels or different fish prepare to lose money. If you intend to add other types of fish, make sure the creatures are aggressive also. Otherwise, purchase a new tank to store less aggressive, or delicate fish.

If you haven’t purchased saltwater fish at this time, look for the yellow tail damsels, blue damsels, and so on, since these fish are less aggressive. The Domino and 3-striped damsels are much more aggressive. Most people purchase damsels, since the fish are easiest to take care of, as well the fish are not as costly as other types of fish.

If you have other types of fish, you want to maintain the tank, making sure that the waters hardness is balanced. Waters alkali is concentrated and measured in terms of pH. It depends on the amount of magnesium and calcium dissolved in fish water, as to how hard the water is measured. Carbonates, hydroxides, bicarbonates, borates, and silicates dissolved in water determine the alkalinity balance. You want to purchase test kits to balance hardness in fish water. Test kits include a measuring device, which expresses pH, alkinity, and hardness of water in PPM. (Parts per million) For instance, hard water is measured at 100, yet it can reach as high as 200 in hardness and alkalinity. Since, fish require a degree of hard water it is advised that you purchase a pH buffer, as well as a test kit.

If you have mollies, the fish can get used to salt water. However, freshwater fish typically desire unadulterated water. Mollie fish are inexpensive fish as well. The fish then can live in higher or lower pH balanced waters. To adapt the fish to saltwater, you want to start out by keeping the fish bagged in water and slowly drenching the fish over an 8-hour period in saltwater. You want to remove water from the bags before it overflows. Once you adapt the mollies to saltwater, you can prepare them for tank water. However, it is recommended that you avoid mixing the mollies with aggressive fish, such as the 3-striped damsels, etc.

Akin to the damsels, is the clown fish. The clownfish are also resilient. However, these fish find it difficult to adapt to new environments. Since clownfish are very protective, yet the fish typically battle other clown fish. Like damsels and other saltwater fish, the fish prefer reef tanks. Reef tanks include underwater ridges, which houses rocks and coral within the body of water. The water top is right below or slightly above the surface.

How to care for shrimp:
Shrimp (NO I didn’t call you a shrimp) fish include a variety of fish which each differ slightly in their need for care. The clean shrimps have a white strip on red down the center of their back. This fish is one of the fewer shrimps to have, since maintenance is relatively a low demand. You should keep the clean fish in a low capacity fish tank. That is, do not add more than 4 fish to a single tank.

After having played music with many different musicians on many different skill levels I have noticed something interesting among most of them. Each one will usually play his or her instrument according to his or her respective personality.

When this concept comes to drumming it is really noticeable.

I’ve noticed that drummers who are a relaxed type often play relaxed. A drummer who is a more bold person usually plays the same way… bold. A drummer who lives his or her life a little sloppy and wreckless will often play the same way. Likewise, a drummer who is a very organized individual will play rather consistantly.

All this is okay to an extent. But, we just can’t let our drumming be subject to our personality, feelings, or mood at any given moment.

Our instrument, the drums, are our expression in the band. It’s our voice. And, many times, we must drum in a manner that does not line up with our personality, feelings, or mood.

Being an outstanding drummer requires becoming a bit of an actor. What I mean by that is, sometimes we have to play drums a certain way despite our true personality, or how we may feel at any given moment. That’s what a good actor does, he temporarily forgets who he is and becomes someone else for a time so that he can pull off what he needs to pull off in order to get the job done.

As you know, sometimes we have to drum a little harder than we may feel like drumming. And then at other times we may have to drum a bit softer when what we really want to do is rock out.

In order to be an outstanding drummer we have to be able to put out what is required of us at any given moment. For example, sometimes a certain song needs to convey a certain message, feeling, or mood. But, your particular mood at the time does not jive with it at all.

If we want the song to do what it’s supposed to do, we can’t expect the song to submit to how we feel right then. We have to submit to the song and forget about ourselves by becoming a part of the song.

The bottom line is this… don’t play your drums according to your personality. Play your drums according to each individual song’s personality. Only then will your songs truly come to life.

I have a question for you: When someone signs up to receive your ezine or other Free Taste of what it is that you’re offering, where do they end up?

Do they see a polite thank you page from you? Or do they see the default confirmation page from your list service? Or do they see nothing and are left wondering if the registration went through?

People who are signing up for your list expect to see a page afterwards as a normal part of the transaction. On that page, it’s important to thank them for signing up and make them feel good about their decision. Also, if you’re using a double opt-in for your list, let them know that they need to confirm their subscription before they will receive the information they requested from you.

But there’s much more you can do with this page, so why not leverage it? Here’s a few ideas as to how:

1. Add Tell-A-Friend

Most people are happy to refer you to someone else they know who might benefit from what you’re offering, if you’ll just ask them.

You can do this easily by simply asking them to point others to your sign-up page, or by using a simple referral software program, like TAFPro, which creates a simple form to fill in with a name and email address of the person they are making the referral to. Once they hit send, an email gets sent directly to the recipient and a copy comes to you as well.

This is a great way to add new subscribers to your list without you having to do more work.

2. Make another offer

The best time to make an offer to someone is when they are already engaged with you. Someone who has just signed up to receive information from you is likely to be interested in something else you have to offer. Use this page to make an offer on one of your lower ticket items in your funnel. By doing so, you’ll gain sales that you wouldn’t otherwise.

3. Ask a question

This is a prime time to gather a little market research from your readers. Ask a simple question, like “What’s your biggest challenge with X?” (X being your niche or what it is that your offering). Add an email link where they can send their answer, and then use this information as you continue to develop offerings for your target market.

Doing this also helps in starting to build a relationship with your readers, and it keeps you up-to-date as to what they are struggling with right now so you can offer the solutions they most want.

4. Refer them elsewhere

Hook up with a colleague to start trading some thank you page traffic. On your thank you page, say something like, “I know you’ll also benefit from (name of ezine) published by (name of publisher).” Then give them instructions on how to sign up. Your colleague would do the same for you on their thank you page.

I implement all four of these strategies on various thank you pages, which are helping me build a stronger relationship with my readers, find out what it is that they most want my help with, build my list faster and easier (while helping a handful of colleagues build theirs), and make more sales by making more offers.

Bald men are rejoicing over two huge scientific developments that could one day make all their hair restoration dreams come true. One of these innovations comes in pill form and is a prescription drug called Propecia, which is already available. The other development comes from stem cell researchers and holds promise for the not too distant future (10-15 years).

Propecia, whose generic name is finasteride, helps hair grow back by blocking the conversion of testosterone into dihyrdo-testosterone, commonly referred to as DHT. DHT prevents hair from growing, so by blocking its formation, hair can begin to grow again.

The results of a clinical trial that tested the efficacy of Propecia revealed that 20% of men who took a small amount of the drug for a year grew back moderate to heavy amounts of hair! And another 30% grew some hair. The clinical trial also revealed that it took longer for some of the men to start regrowing hair; these men experienced positive results after taking the drug for 2 years. The best news is that finasteride has been demonstrated to help prevent prostate cancer, so this additional benefit is a further incentive for bald men to give Propecia a try, because bald men show an increased risk of developing prostate cancer.

Sounds too good to be true? Perhaps. Propecia usage can reduce sex drive and cause impotence in some men, but these effects disappear when usage of the drug is halted. So, you must continue to take the drug indefinitely to keep the hair.

But this is not necessarily a bad thing. Propecia can help you restore your head of hair for the time being, and then sometime in the near future, stem cell cures for baldness will likely be available and will probably be the permanent answer for curing baldness once and for all. And therein lies one of the main problems with payday loans – the fees.

This kind of credit is notorious for being expensive, and eye-watering APRs of 1000% or even much higher are the norm. These APR figures are perhaps a little misleading, as the APR system is designed for credit with a longer repayment period than payday loans where the term is measured in days rather than years. Nonetheless, these loans are pretty expensive, with a fee of 25% of your loan amount generally the going rate.

The second major problem is that repaying your loan and fee is likely to leave you skint again at the end of next month, and it’s easy to get into an expensive vicious circle of taking out a loan every month – which is when those high APR rates will really bite.

So, is there any point to a payday loan? Yes, but only really for a genuine emergency where there isn’t an alternative. If you’re using these loans to finance your day to day life, then it would be better to examine your finances and see where you can economise, or to restructure your debt using a consolidation loan or similar to free up some extra cash every month.

How Rudolph Became a Christmas Helper

Did you know that the story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was originally created by a department store? The mega-department store Montgomery Ward wanted to create a new Christmas story in 1939 that they could give away as a free promotion to their customers. They gave the job of creating this story to one of their store writers, a man by the name of Robert May. It was something that Montgomery Ward did every year. It gave away books, coloring books, and other holiday knickknacks as a way to attract customers and keep the loyalty of old ones.

May worked tirelessly to find the new story, and he actually got inspiration from past stories such as the one about the Ugly Duckling, and even his own childhood. Just like the Ugly Duckling, May used to get picked on as a kid because he looked different. That was the story hook he needed for his new Christmas story–the story of a reindeer that was teased because he was different. Rudolph, you see, had a red glowing nose.

May also had help from his 4-year-old daughter, Barbara, who would listen to his story every night to make sure it was kid tested and approved. Next, May had to sell his boss on the idea. Unfortunately, at first glance, Rudolph was not liked by May’s boss. The manager thought that the red nose might not be suitable for Christmas stories and children, since red noses were often associated with drinking too much alcohol.

How did May overcome the trepidation of his boss? He had a friend, Denver Gillan, go to the local zoo to sketch photos of deer. He added the famous red nose, and voila, the cute image was too hard to resist. Next, they needed to come up with a name. At first, May leaned toward Rollo, but then he decided that didn’t sound right for a story that started out so sad. He then considered Reginald, but that name sounded too stuffy and pompous for a little reindeer. Finally, he came up with the name that stuck: Rudolph.

When the story was all finished, it started off as a smash hit. May and the Montgomery Ward store gave out 2.4 million copies of Rudolph’s story in 1939, and would continue to hand out another 3.6 million more over the next 6 to 7 years.

Today, the song about Rudolph is heard in classrooms and holiday parties around the world, and several television shows and cartoons have been made about the little hero who saved Christmas. The song and story have changed a bit since May wrote it. Did you know that in the original version Santa discovered Rudolph while delivering presents to his house? And Rudolph didn’t even live in the North Pole! One thing that is the same in all versions, however, is Santa’s love for his bright nosed reindeer.

There are sites on the Net that can provide this information free. Use the search engines to find a few of them. A couple of example sites are addfreestats.com or statcounter.com.

The typical traffic analysis site (abbreviated TAS for the rest of this article) will track the activity on your site and give you extensive reports on how your site is being viewed. The stats that you get from it will be much more detailed than most of the basic stats from your web host.

To use the TAS, you establish an account on the TAS with a user name and password. Once you are signed on, you set up a project to monitor your website. You can set up multiple projects to monitor multiple sites.

The TAS generates a few lines of java script for you. You then copy and paste the script into each webpage on your site that you want to monitor. You can select an option on the TAS set up so there is nothing on your page to indicate that the script is there.

Each time the page loads, the script sends info to the TAS that goes into a database. When you want to see the info, you log on the TAS and check out how people are viewing your site.

Most of the traffic analysis sites have the ability or track the visitor’s path that will allow you to see exactly the sequence of pages that the visitor viewed and how he/she browsed you site. You can walk through your site with your visitor and make certain that you are managing them on your site.

This is a great tool. If you are building a website, I highly recommend that you install the small script on every page that you want to track.

Becoming a Forklift Operator

There is a large market for forklift operators. Nearly all construction sites, warehouses, and shipping docks need at least one forklift operator. Forklift operators usually need a high school diploma or a GED in order to be hired. People who operate forklifts do not need any sort of license or certificate, but they do need extensive training.

The employer must train a forklift operator. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that a forklift operator pass formal and practical training classes and an evaluation before being allowed to operate a forklift independently without supervision. There is no set format that the training must take and there is no license, but the employer must document that the training is completed before the operator is allowed to work. The forklift training does not have to be taught by a professional trainer, anyone who has already completed the training and is experienced and knowledgeable enough to teach the training can do so.

OSHA regulates that a forklift operator’s training program have three parts. First, the trainee must participate in a formal training. This is a classroom type training that teaches proper forklift operation and safety procedures. This class can involve watching videos about forklift operation and reading instruction manuals. After the trainee completes the formal training, it is time for the practical lessons. This is when the trainee actually operates the forklift under the trainer’s supervision. The final step is the evaluation. The trainer watches the trainee operate the forklift and checks to see that the trainee is operating the machine correctly and is following all safety precautions. After the trainer documents the evaluation the trainee is the able to independently operate the forklift. A forklift operator must be evaluated every three years to ensure that the proper guidelines are still being followed.

A forklift operator can expect to make between $18,000 and $30,000 in a year. Many of the jobs that require forklift are unionized, providing the forklift operators union protection. There is limited advancement opportunity for forklift operators.
