UFC: Tito Ortiz a no-show for exhibition match with White

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Due to the absence of Tito Ortiz for his weigh-in Friday, the much-awaited battle between the UFC fighter and Dana White, President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship has been cancelled, at least for now.

White was scheduled to make his professional boxing launch on March 24, 2007, against his former client Tito Ortiz. This was also an attempt to work out their feud, supposedly contending in a three-round boxing exhibition. In fact, Ortiz previously sent daring messages to White asserting his determination, as well as the authenticity of the fight. However, Ortiz left a message indicating his decision to let White “off the hook.” The decision of Ortiz actually left many people puzzled and surprised, especially the Nevada State Athletic Commission which previously lauded Ortiz for his

professionalism in these types of events. Given this, it’s hard to

imagine what instigated Ortiz’s failure to show up.

Ortiz, a 32-year old American-Mexican mixed martial arts fighter from Huntington Beach, California, began his martial arts career as a wrestler in his sophomore year in high school. After a series of successful competitions, he headed for more prestigious competitions worldwide.

Previously, he headlined many pay per view championship cards and graced the covers of several magazines. Also known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,”

his awards and accomplishments includes the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion with 5 title defenses, a 2006 Golden Gloves, a 2006 Fight of the Year, and a

2006 Feud of the Year among others. At present, he has 15 wins, 5 losses and 0 draws.

Others speculate that Ortiz’s nonappearance is due to his desire to acquire more money since Spike TV intended to broadcast segments of the their fight as a promotional tool for the highly anticipated UFC 69. Meanwhile, others perceive his move as an avoidance of the possibility of his defeat in the hands of White.

Why is Goji Berry So Beneficial?

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Goji berries or Tibetan Goji berries are technically known as Lycium Barabarum (Latin). They belong to the family of Solanaceae (flowering plants) which also have members like potatoes, tomatoes and tobacco. It is quite surprising to know that over eighty varieties of Lycium berry are found in nature. One of the most famous include the Chinese Wolfberry which is considered by Chinese healers as the best cure for male sexual dysfunction. But to be on a more technical ground, Chinese Wolfberry is just a genetic cousin of Lycium Barbarum and is not exactly a true Goji berry.

Goji berries are perhaps one of the richest sources of vitamins and other nutrients. It has been clinically proven that they contain over 18 different amino acids and vitamins like B1, B2, B6, C and E. It is surprising but a truth that this fruit contains more Beta carotene than carrots and is perhaps the best source of vitamin C around. Only Australian billygoat plum and South American camu camu are richer than Goji berries where vitamin C is concerned.

Goji berries are also rich source of minerals like iron, calcium, zinc, selenium, phosphorus and germanium. With all that, they are also a rich source of antioxidants.

Legend is that hundreds of years ago, a group of Buddhist monks in the mountains of Tibet saw small red berries growing behind a well. When they gave it a try, it tasted quite well and included these berries in their daily diet. What was surprising was that they found out that they outlived other monks. They came to the conclusion that these berries made all the difference.

For centuries they went on reaping rich benefits out of including Gojies in their daily diet. It was quite later that west became aware of the benefits of Gojies and started using it and its use spread all round. And there are enough reasons for this popularity. It starts with the belief that it increases ones life span considerably. It is also believed that it has good healing powers. It works wonders for cuts, burns, abrasions and also rashes.

You can easily get extracts of Goji berries from most health stores. These extracts are turned into creams and remedies. As of now these products are very expensive but if you decide to buy online, you can save a lot of money. And if you are thinking of buying in bulk the cost would get a lot cheaper. It goes without saying that Goji extracts are amongst the best health product that is natural. And more and more people are going for it.

If you look at health food stores, you would find that entire shelves have been filled with products containing Goji berries including drinks, skin care lotions, cosmetics and remedies. They benefit those who are looking for natural skin product that are non-toxic.

Goji berries have been grown in China, Tibet and Mongolia for ages. Chinese medicine has always used them for centuries. It is used with lycium bark and is believed to boost your immune system, circulatory system, proves great for liver and kidney protection, improves your vision, and works wonder for your skin. Gojies are surely very rich in vitamins and minerals but what is more it is also the best in Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) scale. It is used to measure the antioxidant levels in any food. And studies have revealed that they contain 25000 units per 100 milligrams which is about five times more than the fruit (prunes) that comes second on the scale and about 15 times more than the vegetable that comes second on the list.

And what is the importance of antioxidant? Well it is the primary ingredient that fights the aging process. It is quite natural that many believe that those berries are the best and the most powerful anti-ageing food that is around. And that is why it has also found topical applications and is one of the key ingredients in skin care products.

It is true that Goji berries have just found application in topical uses, yet you can find it being used in a wide range of skin care products right form creams and lotions to every other product. And that is why most of the new natural skin care product has Gojies as its ingredient.

If you want to have those berries and want to assure that they are perfect, go for Goji berries that claim to be cold-pressed, have no solvents and have been air-dried. Also, preservatives must not be used. Heat processing and other chemicals, if added, reduces its benefits greatly.

How to Choose the Best Juicer for You

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

There are many factors that determine which of the many food juicers out there is the correct juicer for you. Some of the factors that you need to consider are:

• Juicer Type
• What produce you are most likely to juice
• Cleaning
• Power
• Noise Level

Juicer Types: There are six main types of juicers that are available today. They are Centrifugal Juicers, Citrus Juicers, Manual Press Juicers, Single Gear a.k.a. Masticating Juicers, Twin Gear a.k.a. Triturating Juicers and Wheatgrass Juicers.

• Centrifugal Juicers: Centrifugal juicers are the pretty much the most affordable and popular choice available to people looking to buy a juicer these days. These juicers use a shredding disc to spin out the juice and a strainer basket to hold the pulp in the machine.

• Citrus Juicers: A citrus juicer provides the convenience of juicing citrus fruits at home so you can enjoy the benefits of fresh squeezed citrus juice any time.

• Manual Press Juicers: Since the juice is pressed through cheesecloth, the juice is virtually pulp free, but can be a slow process. Requires produce to be shredded in order to be pressed and squeezes the juice out of the produce with pressure.

• Single Gear a.k.a. Masticating Juicers: These produce less foam, and can be utilized to make baby food, sauces and sorbets. A slow turning single auger is used by these types of juicers to crush the produce into the walls or screen of the juicer.

• Twin Gear Juicers a.k.a. Triturating Juicers: These juicers have two gears that shreds then presses the juice out of the produce. These types of juicers are liable to be more expensive than other types of juicers, but twin gear juicers are the most efficient and can extract larger volumes of juice from fruits and vegetables.

• Wheatgrass Juicers: Wheatgrass juicers can extract the juice out of the blades of wheatgrass either manually or automatically. Wheatgrass is a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, and enzymes. This is a specialized type of juicer since normal fruit and vegetable juicers will not juice wheatgrass.

Produce most likely to be juiced: If you are likely to be juicing fruit and vegetables in equal quantities then a centrifugal juicer is your best option and some models also feature cirtus juicing attachments as well. However those juicers do not juice leafy vegetables well. If citrus or wheatgrass are going to comprise the majority of what you are juicing then buying a juicer designed for those products is your best option. For juicing mainly vegetables a single auger juicer would be the best, but they produce rather thick juice from fruit, almost sauce-like, since they are designed for juicing stalk-like vegetables.

Cleaning: The time it will take to clean a juicer after you used it will depend on the complexity of the juicer. The average juice has between 4 and 7 parts requiring cleaning. this means that while a citrus press can be cleaned with a quick wipe down, a juicer with more functionality will take longer to clean. Also a check should be made as to whether the components are dishwasher safe or not, unless you are happy to hand wash the parts.

Power: The amount of power you need depends on the hardness of the produce you are juicing. The harder the produce, the more power you will need, but anything over 400 watts should be more than sufficient. The stronger the motor is the longer it is likely to last. Also a check should be made as to whether the motor is guaranteed by the manufacturer.

Noise Levels: This is dependent on the power of your juicer’s motor. The more powerful the motor, the higher the noise levels produced. The importance of this factor is guided by personal preference and your situation, however bear in mind that, in general, a quiter motor means less power.

Cost is not seen as a factor when buying a juicer because there are so many juicers available at so many different prices, but the higher quality juicers are likely to cost more than average. Ultimately your personal preferences will determine which juicer you buy.

How to Make a Great Tasting Cup of Coffee – It’s Not Rocket Science

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

There is good coffee and absolutely abysmal coffee. Both may start with the same elements, but one cup can taste completely different to another. Freshness is the key to great tasting coffee. Here is the play by play smackdown of how to create a fantastic tasting cup of coffee.

  • Use good beans. Go to a local coffee roaster and buy only enough coffee beans to last you a week. Buying fresh beans is one key to good taste. When you buy beans make sure the beans are all relatively the same size and same color for even grinding and flavor. If you buy beans from the supermarket at minimum, check to see if the beans are Arabica.
  • Use filtered water. Even if your coffee maker has a charcoal filter it is best to start off with filtered water to ensure there are no impurities like chlorine or minerals to alter the real taste. Use cold water.
  • For the best tasting coffee ensure you have a coffee maker which can brew up to 95 to 98 degrees Celsius, just off the boil. This temperature is the optimal temperature to get the best flavor out of the bean.
  • The grind. Only grind as much coffee as you are going to need for that moment. The finer you grind, the more flavor you will receive. The grind has to be even to ensure even taste. If you are using a cheap coffee maker you should only use a medium grind to avoid the over-extraction. However, grind to your equipment’s recommendations.
  • Use two level tablespoons of coffee per cup. If you are making more than 10-cups of coffee you should use the strength meter on its highest position possible to allow more water to penetrate the grounds evenly.
  • Use unbleached coffee filters or ensure your permanent filter is free from all coffee sludge. When it comes to coffee, cleanliness is next to Godliness.
  • Stir the pot. Once the coffee is brewed, stir the pot to infuse the taste.
  • At bare minimum, these steps should always be used when making coffee. Think about the farmer’s in the field, if you skip a step are you doing their hard work justice? On a selfish note, missing one of those steps will affect the taste of your coffee, even slightly. Other things important in the coffee making process are:

  • Always ensure your equipment is clean. Old coffee sludge can really change the taste of coffee. Polident can clean your equipment to almost new.
  • NEVER reuse coffee grinds.
  • NEVER grind beans just taken out of the freezer. Let them thaw first.
  • Always store coffee in air-tight containers away from direct sunlight.
  • NEVER leave the coffee on a heater for longer than ½ an hour. It gets a burnt taste and smell.
  • Always warm your cup and never reheat coffee.
  • The best coffee starts with fresh beans, clean equipment and clean water. Adhering to at least those three guidelines will give you great tasting coffee. Everything else is just gravy.

    An Introduction To Bartending

    Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Setting up your own bar is actually quite easy to do. There are however, a few things that good bartenders need to know to run a bar efficiently. In order for a bar to succeed, you’ll need to have the basic wines, liquors, and spirits – along with the right equipment. Although these things are essential, bartenders also need the proper technique for mixing drinks and cocktails as well.

With bartending, the location of the bar is very important. The bar should be placed in an area that is easy to reach and provides plenty of space behind it. There should be plenty of room for glasses and drinks, along with a chair or two as well. The bartender has to learn the area behind the bar, and know everything about it. Bartenders need to know their area well – and how to perform their mixing duties when business heats up.

Another job bartenders have is knowing their drinks. Bartenders are responsible for serving and mixing drinks, which is a wide variety to say the least. It can be nearly impossible to know every possible drink mixture, why is why most bartenders use mixing lists hidden under the bar to help them know what goes in each drink.

Bartenders don’t have a lot of time to mix drinks, which makes it nearly impossible to read each and every label. To help with this dilemma, you can always arrange your alcohol and drinks a certain way, to ensure that you know where everything is. This way, when business picks up and you find yourself short on time – you’ll know where everything is.

To become a successful bartender, or mixologist, it takes years of practice. There are several styles of bartending as well, including the well known and very impressive flair style. Flair bartending involves very impressive techniques and tricks, which will leave customers truly amazed. Flair is the hardest style of bartending to perfect, taking years and years of practice. Flair bartenders all around the world will tell you that flair brings the most crowds – although it can also cost a lot of money in broken bottles along the way!

Each and every bar should also have the basic spirits, such as Tequila, Vodka, Rum, and Gin. There should be also be fruit juices on hand as well, such as lemon juice, orange juice, and even pineapple juice. Almost all mixed drinks require juice, such as screwdrivers – which require both Vodka and orange juice. Mixed drinks are very popular, making it essential for the bartender to be a good mixologist – and have the right materials on hand at all times.

A lot of drinks that bartenders mix will require special gadgets such as shakers, measuring cups, rinsing bowls, and straws. Shakers are the most commonly used gadget, as they are essential for mixing alcohol. Bartenders will also need to keep cloth on hand as well, to quickly clean up spills and wipe down the mixing area from time to time.

As a career, bartending can provide you with a lot of money. If you go to college and learn the techniques required for bartending, you can make more money than you ever thought possible. The job is high paying, a lot of fun, and a great way to meet new people. There are a lot of colleges and universities that offer bartending, or you can study online. No matter which way you go – bartending will be a lot of fun and will take you far in life as an exciting career.

How To Store Dry Herbs And Spices

    Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Do you want to add a lot of flavor to your meals without you having to worry about adding additional fat, sugar, sodium or calories? There is a readily available and ultra convenient solution, you can cook using lots of spices and herbs. Different combinations provide a variety of tastes and can be used to add ethnic flair from around the world to your menu, with out ever having to leave your own kitchen. Not only do they delight the taste buds but they may also carry many health benefits as well. Preserving the quality, freshness and flavor of your spices will result in better tasting dishes, more of the associated health benefits and save you money.

What are herbs and spices? Herbs are usually the green, leafy part of aromatic plants grown for culinary use. Spices are the seeds, berries, bark, root, or other parts of the plants. As a general rule, when cooking spices should be added to the dish at the beginning so their flavors will meld and blend into the dish and herbs should be added near the end of cooking process to retain the most flavor.

The shelf life of these seasonings varies, spices generally keep longer than herbs. Herbs will stay fresh for about one year when stored properly. Ground spices will keep for several years and whole spices will keep much longer when stored carefully. Heat, light, moisture and air are all enemies of dried herbs and spices therefore, exposing them to these elements will greatly reduce the quality, color and flavor.

Purchase dried herbs and spices in small quantities that you can use up in reasonable amount of time. Store them in a tightly sealed container in a cool place out of direct light. They will retain more of their essential oil content and flavor when stored in glass jars or metal tins. Direct sunlight will fade the color and reduce the quality of your herbs and spices so store them in a dark cupboard. Also try not to store them above the stove or near other heat sources as heat will degrade the quality as well.

Replace faded herbs and spices and ones that are over a year old with new. Early fall is a good time of year to go through your cupboard, restock low quantities and replace any that you’ve had for too long. This way you’ll have a good supply of your favorites readily available for your holiday cooking and baking needs.

Various herbs and spices contain many nutrients and phytochemicals which carry health benefits. Purchase the very best good quality you can afford for the highest essential oil, nutrient content as well as better flavor. Using a superior quality brand will also increase the health benefits and actually save you money in the long run because you’ll need to use less to achieve the right flavor.

This is my article dedicated to juicing beets recipes.

Frankly, I love the things, and I really find, I don’t know if it’s just me, but every time I feel tired or I feel a cold coming on, juicing beets really helps me. Maybe it’s a placebo thing. I don’t care. I’m making an article especially for that special vegetable in my life.

    So here of some stats of said vegetable;

Beets contain calcium, iron, sulphur, potassium, beta-carotene, choline, and vitamin C.

They are high in manganese, an important mineral for brain function.

Beets are also high in minerals that strengthen the liver and gall bladder, and are the building blocks for blood corpuscles and cells.

Beets are famous for their ability to cleanse the blood.

Beet juice is super concentrated so I’d strongly advise you dilute it with water or other juices.

Purchase firm, rock-hard beets. Being a root, they can be stored for months in the refrigerator.

    Juicing beets recipes:

    Carrot, spinach and beets
    4 carrots
    beet with greens
5 – 6 leaves of Romaine or other leaf lettuce

Scrub organic carrots or peel the carrots if they are not organic. Clean and cut beet into slender wedges, and wash & dry lettuce and spinach leaves. Juice half of the carrots, and the beet, and then you may use the remaining carrots to help push the lettuce and spinach through the juicer.

    Power punch
    Juice 1 small beet.
    Juice 1 pear.
    Juice 1 Fuji apple.
Juice a small piece of ginger 2 inches max.

The Jupiter Melody JP104 Water Ionizer is all that is needed for you to receive energized, healthy, antioxidant, alkaline water at a moments notice. This model has been outfitted with the ground breaking Biostone filter, which enhances the water dispensed to you by increasing its moisture level and increasing its capability to preserve negative ion charges.

The success of this process is due to the usage of the ceramic Tourmaline in the filtration process, as well as the built in coral calcium. During the progression of the ionization procedure the tourmaline releases infrared energy to make certain that the efficiency level of the water is increased. Additionally this procedure implies that all water that travels through the filter, including the water which does not go through the process of ionization, will be able to increase their rapidity of incorporation, hydration and energy transmission.

The Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer has a wide range of positive attributes all of which contribute to the acknowledgement by its competition that this water ionizer is ground breaking in the area of water purification units. To add to that there is the knowledge that it is produced by Jupiter Science, which ensures that you have the safeguard of trading with Korea’s longest lasting and biggest reputable water ionizer producer.

An explanation of the Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer’s Features:

Your ionizer has a built in automatic reversed cleaning program. This makes sure that any particle that can find its way all the way through the filter is not caught inside the ionizing area. The magnetic field within the compartment is inverted to ensure that any minerals that have become actively attached to a Titanium plate are repulsed and expelled from the unit. This system helps to prolong the life of the ionizer and the Jupiter Melody only ever dispenses ionized water from the alkaline spout. There is no wait for your water even if your Jupiter Melody is in its cleaning phase.

You are provided with a choice of different pH levels for your water and therefore are afforded a greater amount of choice. This array of options lets you to get the beneficial effects of using higher pH levels when cooking, since high alkaline pH water helps to make greener greens, fluffier rice and more tasty coffee and tea. The availability of acidic water makes sure that you can benefits of acidic water. It can be an aid for your skin and your plants as well as a useful help with household hygiene and much more. Ionized water can also help with the digestion of copious amounts of different supplements and can perhaps reduce the dose amount that is necessary.

The filtration process utilizes the 0.01 micron 3-stage method as well as the Biostone Infrared which guarantees that the water will be filtered of all contaminants and your water is also prepared by lessening of surface pressure for the utmost negative ion manufacture during the process of ionization. Coral calcium is inserted into the water mechanically.

The Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer also makes use of large 5-plate polymer ion plated, platinum coated, titanium ionizing plates. Jupiter Science and Toyo Water of Japan worked in partnership to bring into being the best arrangement of polymer bonded platinum coated Titanium plates that are available. This drastically improves the duration of the plates, which are at the core of the Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer structure.

The use of incorporated computer circuitry in your water ionizer means that you have a far wider choice of what water you can have. Without that circuitry the pH of your water is limited by the pH of the water that is coming into your ionizer and you will be unable to correct the setting to get water of the optimal pH. This circuitry permits hot water and low pressure protection to be automatic utilities as well.

There is a liquid crystal display that shows filter usage even though it is not a definite gauge of filter life, it is a helpful indication of what endurance your ionizer. The Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer has a 1/4″ inlet pipe which is visually superior, to the 3/8″ pipe used by other water ionization units.

Keep Your Coffee Machine Running Smoothly – The Three Golden Rules Of Coffee Machine Repair

    Last Updated: 2011/10/06

A coffee machine can be an integral part of a business, so it is vital that it is kept running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. When you buy a coffee machine, you should check the manufacturer’s guidelines as to how often they recommend it be serviced- most manufacturers recommend a quarterly service. This should help to catch any potential problems before they really start, and will ensure that a high standard of coffee is produced every time. If your machine does break down, follow the golden rules listed below to ensure that your machine is repaired as quickly and painlessly as possible.

    1. Don’t try and fix it yourself! Coffee machines are complex, and, tempting though it may be to tinker with it yourself in order to avoid paying for repairs, you can end up doing far more damage than good and can cause the repairs to take even longer than they would have done.

    2. Check the warranty. Most coffee machines will come with a warranty- 12 or 36 months is typical- and this will usually cover any repairs that need to be carried out within the warranty period, so you won’t have to shell out extra cash to get your machine fixed.

    3. Compare coffee machine repairers online. This is a quick and easy way to find the most suitable company for you- just by looking at their website you should be able to tell whether they cover your area, what their service includes (for example, on-site repair or loan machines), and so on- although you will probably need to phone them and explain the problem (or they may need to see the problem for themselves) in order to get a quote.

Whatever happens, DO make sure you get your machine fixed. Although the problem may seem small enough to ignore, chances are it will be affecting the quality of your coffee, and it could lead to much bigger problems that are even more expensive to repair.

    Let’s Start With The Soup

    Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Many a business meal starts with a soup course. Unless you have already begun by munching on the bread, this is your first opportunity to demonstrate your table manners-to impress or un-impress-your dining companions.

Choosing the right spoon is step number one. If the table has been preset, your soup spoon will be the large round or oval one to the far right of your place setting. If the table has not been fully set, the server will bring your spoon with the soup. I recently found myself on a hunt for my soup spoon after the waiter had brought the bowl. There was no soup spoon to the right of the place setting and it didn’t seem to be anywhere else close by. Just before confessing that I was without a spoon, I spotted a handle sticking out from under the oversized soup bowl. So check the plate first before you give up.
With soup spoon in hand, spoon the soup away from you towards the opposite side of the bowl. If a bit of the liquid should fall from the spoon this will ensure that it will drop into the bowl and not on the front of your nice business attire. Sip your soup quietly from the side of the spoon. Slurping is never acceptable.

No matter how hot the soup, at no point should you blow on it to cool it off. You may lift a spoonful slightly level with the bowl and hold it for a few seconds while it cools off. Be patient and grateful that your soup is hot. If the soup is not heated to your liking, don’t make a fuss during your meal. If you send it back to be reheated, everyone else will feel obliged to wait on you. Then they will end up with the cold soup instead of you.

If you want the last drop of soup, you may tip the bowl away from you to spoon this last bit. Just try to avoid looking as if you are not sure where your next meal is coming from.

If oyster crackers come with your soup, as they do with chowder, you can put them in your bowl. However, larger crackers are to be eaten with your fingers and never crumbled into the soup. That’s only okay when eating in private.

Between mouthfuls, rest the spoon in the bowl. When you have finished, place it on the under plate on the right hand side. That is a signal to the server that you have finished.

If you’d like to have a piece of bread with your soup, put your spoon on the under plate and use the same hand that held your spoon for the bread. Never go at your meal two-fisted.

Every detail of the business meal, including how you eat your soup, contributes to your overall professional image.

    The Dell Inspiron 1000

    Last Updated: 2011/10/06

    The following article

covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage–at least it seems that

way. If you’ve been thinking you need to know more about it, here’s your

    opportunity.

    The Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook

is one of the most basic, yet readily capable machines to grace the computer

market in quite some time. Though many

now find the unit obsolete, the 1000 is still a fully-functional piece of

equipment that easily handles many tasks at once. One of the greatest features on the 1000 is

its ability to display images via its large display screen, which has great

pixel resolution of 1024 X 768, and does not let down the user where other

units might. The fifteen inch screen is

more than large enough to display much needed information, pictures, or game

screens, all of which are common functions that can be easily orchestrated by

the Dell Inspiron 1000. The graphics

processor also helps with the computer’s ability to handle more superficial

tasks. The notebook uses the AGP SIS

M650, which is an industry standard for many computing units, and works well

with computers that have shared video memory, like the 1000.

    One of the computer’s

downsides is the sound quality that initially comes out of the 1000. The sound is not bad, but it certainly isn’t

at the premium level that most notebooks tend to achieve these days. Another downside of the sound quality is the

computer’s incessant “bump” sounds, a problem that occurs every so often,

especially when listening to music. The

sound does get better when the unit is hooked up to external speakers, so do

not rely on the built-in stereo speakers, which do not do their job. External speakers sound much better, but the

“bump” noises can still be heard through them, which can be utterly

annoying. Another problem with the sound

is hearing what sounds like a sound file peaking, when in actuality the speaker

is producing a noise it cannot handle, and therefore produces a distorted sound

that is not the fault of the sound file itself, but more the fault of the

    computer’s faulty speakers.

    Overall, the computer

seems to handle at a pretty impressive rate.

The computer does seem to handle everyday tasks in a very simple manner,

but that does not designate it to have an adequate system. Most computers do not truly go through

processing and memory tests until their systems have been tried by thorough

software and hardware installations, which can wreak havoc on an underperforming

unit. Sadly, this computer can only

handle a few of these installations, and usually cannot handle having one

outside computer game installed into its system. Even with the individual game the system

seems to falter. There are other

programs on the computer, but they are purely operational beings, which should

not affect the user’s recreational experience, and especially should not

negatively impact the computer’s need to have many programs going at once, but

they do. The Dell Ispiron 1000 Notebook

is not meant for fun and games of any large magnitude. The notebook can fare very well with minimal

software downloads, but does not seem to be keen on operating with large

installations, which puts this computer at a very big disadvantage in today’s

    industry.

How can you put a limit

on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom

    that changes everything.

    Although the sound does

lack, and the performance of many tasks by this notebook is nearly impossible,

there are some functions that still operate properly, and can be advantageous

to the owner of the 1000. The notebook

comes with a fully-functional CD-ROM drive, which also plays DVDs, and has a

CD-R burner, which is a necessity in today’s world, of modern downloads. DVD viewing is quite pleasurable, especially

due to the notebook’s large screen, and though the sound does often fail during

parts of the viewing experience, the visuals do tend to make up for the initial

downfalls experienced by the user. The

burning experience is an overall plus for the user, as there have been no major

problems found with the burning hardware inherent to the computer, but the main

obstacle is finding a program that adequately burns albums and files without

causing major interference to the user.

Compact disc listening is also quite pleasurable, but must be done

through headphones if one wants the true quality experience of listening to

music. The discs rarely skip, and the

computer seems to handle the task quite easily, though it does get a bit warm

after completing such a menial duty.

    One of the biggest

problems that users of the Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook will notice is the lack

of battery power, and the computer’s basic inability to fully charge when

plugged in, which usually gives the user a maximum battery time of twenty

minutes, which is plain dismal in today’s world of advanced technology. Energy is one of the big factors to consider

when purchasing a laptop unit, and anyone concerned with that area of the 1000

should prepare for a rather large letdown.

The computer is only half the problem, as the battery packs that are

internally stored in the computers tend to give the consumer a large headache

as well. Many of the units were recalled

due to the battery’s apparent ability to combust, a negative quality which has

caused many fires on an international level.

The battery’s lack of real power, along with the combustibility factor,

is one of the biggest reasons that many people will go with another unit when

looking for a dependable laptop computer.

    Finally, there is the

connectivity of the Dell Inspiron 1000.

For the most part, the computer does seem to function quite well on the

internet, and has the ability to hookup to many of the high speed services

available, without the need of even purchasing a network card, which can easily

fit into the computer’s accessible port.

The only problem can be the failure of the Ethernet port, which then

institutes reparation of the problem, or a need to install a network card, both

of which can be irritating and costly processes. The computer also has the ability to connect

with USB ports, which is a very vital need in the present time, especially since

the floppy disc is no longer viable, and the USB ports seem to be the most

    popular way of transporting information.

The Dell Inspiron 1000 is a decent computing unit, and should not be

thought of as the apex of the computing industry, but should be thought of as

an affordable unit that has the ability to function properly if all of the

    necessary precautions are taken.

    Now might be a good

time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on

paper will help you remember what’s important about this dell laptop.

    Managing Messy Food

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

For the past month you have been attending more than the usual number of parties and receptions, and the end is not yet in sight. You knew before you arrived at these business related events that you were expected to be on your best professional behavior. No letting down your guard so you prepared ahead of time.

You thought about who would be there, what you would wear, and what you might talk about. You had something to eat before you went so you wouldn’t rush straight for the bar and the buffet table. You arrived on time so you wouldn’t have to play catch up or interrupt people already locked in conversation.

After working the room a while, you decided to eat. Of course, you stopped at the bar first so with drink in hand, you headed for the hors d’oeuvres, picked up the chicken on a skewer, dipped it into the sauce and took a bite. Unfortunately the chicken didn’t slide right off the skewer so you began tugging at it with your teeth. About that time the boss walked up. There you were with a glass in one hand, chicken in the other and sauce running down your chin. Two questions came to mind: how did you get into this mess and how are you going to get out of it? An ounce of prevention was definitely worth a pound of cure.

Here’s how you might have avoided this humiliation altogether.

Do one thing at a time. Either have a drink or a bite to eat. It is difficult to juggle food and beverage and still have a hand free for shaking hands.

Avoid any foods that may get messy. If you do attempt the skewered meat and dipping sauce, have a napkin in hand help you manage the runoff. Hold a napkin under any food eaten with your fingers.

It is easier to manage food that is passed, but before you take one of those giant stuffed mushrooms, consider what will happen if you pop the entire thing into your mouth or if you bite into that juicy tidbit. If there is risk involved, wait to see what else comes along.

When food is served with a toothpick, discard it properly. The toothpick never goes back on the serving tray. If a container is not provided, put the toothpick in your napkin, on your plate, if you have one, or on the tray that the server is using to collect empty glasses.

And keep in mind that double dipping is forbidden. Once you have dipped the asparagus in sauce, you don’t get another opportunity with the same item. You want more sauce; have another asparagus.

If you end up with something in your mouth that you don’t like or can’t chew, transfer it from your mouth to your napkin when no one is looking. Then find a wastebasket or the tray for the used plates and glasses.

Proceeding with caution and remembering that these events are not about the food will keep you out of embarrassing situations.

Online Shopping for Coffee Shop Supplies Made Easy

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

With ‘coffee shop culture’ growing ever more popular, the coffee business is booming- and there is an ever-increasing range of coffee shop supplies to go with this. But kitting out your coffee shop with the necessities needn’t be complicated- in fact, with the rise of the internet, it is now easier than ever.

You will find that many online companies stock just about everything you need- from beans to mugs and even aprons- and some even sell packages containing just about everything for one bulk price, so you can get all the supplies for your shop quickly and easily. It is also often possible to save money on postage if you buy several items from one company, and some will even offer free postage when you spend over a certain amount of money (although if the site you choose is overseas, you may not qualify for this- check the company’s shipping guidelines). Having said this, it can be worthwhile to spend a bit of time comparing prices across sites so that you can be sure you are getting the best deals- you might find that it works out cheaper to buy different items from different companies.

As well as the basics, make sure you don’t forget about miscellaneous items such as ashtrays, paper takeaway cups and so on, and check out the decorative items on the various sites you look at- for example, many online companies stock pictures and clocks with a coffee theme, which can look fantastic in your shop. Another great way to add a bit of flair is to have your mugs personalised- for example, you can get the name of your shop printed on them. If you are thinking of doing this, it can be cheaper and quicker to buy your mugs from a company who offer a personalisation service, so you can get it all done at once.

    Taking Care Of Cats

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

These days, cats are among the most popular pet you can own. There are several breeds available, with the most popular being Persian and Siamese. Cats are a domesticated animal, with origins dating back some 8,000 years and beyond. Like any other pet that you may own, including dogs, cats cost money to take care of properly.

When you get a cat, you’ll need to think about the costs. You’ll obviously need food, and you’ll also need to plan ahead for vet costs. You’ll also need litter, which can tend to get quite expensive as the years go by. Your cat will need a litter box, food dish, and water dish. You should also invest in some toys as well, such as a scratching post, cat toys, a pet carrier, and a bed. You should also look into getting an ID collar as well, just in case your cat ever gets lost.

Feeding your pet will depend a great deal on his age. Older cats require two small meals or one large meal for the day. Kittens on the other hand, require several feedings a day until they get around the age of 12 weeks. Cats that are between three and six months of age need to be fed three times a day. Canned food can be fed to cats, although any food that has been left out longer than 30 minutes need to be disposed of. Canned food can get expensive fast, and you should always keep in mind that some may need to be thrown away when you buy it. Cats loved canned food, although it doesn’t have any benefits to their dental health like dry food does.

As an alternative plan, you can always leave a supply of dry food out for your pet. When you give your cat dry food, you should always make sure that he has enough water. Dry food costs less than canned food, and it can also help to prevent the buildup of tartar on your cat’s teeth. When you buy dry food, you should always look in terms of health and benefits, and stay away from generic food. Even though generic food may be cheaper, it may not offer the nutrients your pet needs.

If you own a kitten, you should only give you kitten food designed for him. You’ll also need to clean and refill his water dish every day. Even though kittens and adult cats like cow’s milk, you should avoid giving it to them as it can cause diarrhea. Treats are fine on occasion, although too many of them can cause your pet to get fat. Feeding your kitten human food is good on occasion, although you may have to mix it in with his cat food.

By themselves, cats stay fairly clean. Although you don’t have to bathe them that often, you’ll need to give them a brushing at least once a day. Brushing will reduce the risk of hairballs and keep your cat’s coat nice and clean. If you are keeping your cat indoors, you’ll need to have a litter box in an area that is easy for your cat to access. You should always scoop it on a daily basis, and clean it out once a week. Cats don’t like to use dirty litter boxes, they prefer for it to be nice and clean.

Although cats do require some work, they are great pets that will provide you with years and years of companionship. As long as you take care of your cat and take him to the vet for his checkups, he should remain healthy. Even though cats can get sick from time to time – knowing how to care for him will make a world of difference.

    A Look At Ice Wine

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Although there are several types of wines that you buy, one of the most unheard of is ice wine. Ice wines are a very rare form of wine, a wine that is produced under certain types of weather conditions. Ice wine is mainly produced in the Pacific Northwest region, where the weather conditions are right for the wine.

As ironic as it is, ice wines are produced in very small quantities. With the wine requiring only the fines of quality and a lack of availability, the product is extremely rare indeed. Truth be told, there are only a lucky few who are actually able to purchase the wine. Ice wine, due to the scarce amount, can be extremely expensive and out of the price range for a majority of us.

Much like the beauty of owning a diamond, ice wine is something that many of us hope and dream to experience at some point in our lives. Although the materials are rare, the weather conditions are even more crucial to producing this wine. Once the right weather conditions arrive, the wine maker prepares to produce this extremely rare and priceless wine.

The basic requirements needed to produce ice wines are fully ripened grapes and a temperature of around 5 degrees C. The temperature needs to stay that way for several days, so that the wine maker can complete the process of making the wine. Grapes that are frozen during these extremely cold temperatures are hand plucked at night by the wine maker and his assistants.

To produce a bottle of ice wine, full vine grapes may be required. Once the grapes have been collected, they are gently pressed, in order to collect the running juice only. The temperature creates the frozen water crystals, which are fermented along with sugars and the particles that are found in the free running juices. Through this process, the wonderful and rare ice wine is created.

If you have been looking to try ice wines, finding it may be very difficult. As you probably already know, most alcohol and wine stores don’t sell this rare wine. Finding it online is very hard to do as well, unless you catch it at the right time. Even then, if you are able to find it, it can easily cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single bottle.

The best way to experience ice wines is to find the right wine maker in the Pacific Northwest region. Even though bottles go extremely fast once they have been made, you may be able to catch a wine maker with some on hand. Be prepared to spend a hefty amount though. Although it can cost a lot and be extremely hard to find – the taste of ice wine makes it well worth the effort.

    Organic Products and Production

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Many shoppers only seem to have an abstract understanding of the benefits of organic foods and products on the environment and their health. Organic meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Many people believe that genetic engineering is dangerous, unpredictable, and can reduce the nutritional value of food. But the FDA has said that the amount of hormones used in commercial livestock isn’t enough to harm humans. As a result to be deemed organic, meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products must come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Typically organic fruits and vegetables, milk, eggs and meat products are produced within a 50-mile radius of their place of their final sale.

Organic produce refers to vegetables that are grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Only naturally occurring fertilizer, like manure can be used to grow organic produce. While it is still better to eat non-organic vegetables than no vegetables at all, consumers are starting see the value in organic products.

The natural and organic skin care product sector has seen a growth of thirty nine percent over the last year. The product formulations rely entirely on natural or naturally-derived ingredients. These products do not use any artificial preservatives.

The FDA does not regulate skin care manufacturers, questionable ingredients often make their way into their formulas. Some of these products may claim to be all-natural, while still containing a slew of chemicals and toxins. As a consumer if a skin care product contains an ingredient that you are unsure about, write down it’s name and do a little research. If a product claims to be all natural, its ingredients should be easily recognizable as natural components.

Scrutinize the first several listings in the product to be sure that they are the natural ingredients you are looking for. Dirt, dust, pollutants, and other environmental pollutants enter the body through the skin, providing a more significant gateway to your system, so it is important to be aware of what products contain. In response to a growing demand on the part of consumers, more and more organic foods and products are flooding the market. Even in mainstream supermarkets, certified organic foods and organic skin care products are available.

Demand for organic production is increasing by at least 40 per cent each year. And while in some cases the price for organic raw materials may be 3 to 4 times more expensive than conventional. If consumer demand increases, prices should continue to drop.

Party for Both Hosts and Guests – it’s Plastic Time

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

It is true that people toss parties to celebrate a special occasion like a Birthday Party or a wedding Reception. However, in the preparation of making the party amazing for the guests, the hosts suddenly find that they are, in no way, involved in the party celebration.

It is a common sight that hosts remain miserably deprived of the party enjoyments. The solace, they try to construct, is “the arrangements were for guests and they are enjoying”. Nevertheless, one should not forget that the party is as much for the host as it is for the guests, or, all the preparations go in vain and the party remains an unsuccessful one.

Only a host can imagine how much trouble he or she had to undergo (at least for weeks, moving from door to door) to plan, collect and arrange the best assortment in respect to the party-theme. The after-party scenario is more pathetic for the hosts, counting the number of broken china plates and calculating the refund amount or cleaning the dishes and other articles overnight to return to various suppliers.

However, days are changing. The hosts are relying more on plastic cups, cutlery and plates for they come in various shapes and colors to match the theme. These articles are cheap but durable. The hosts can even re-use them in the next party. A spokesperson from a full service online retailer and catering supplier said that they supply plastic dishes that look just like china and cost a mere fraction of what rentals do. Apart from saving the hard-earned cash, it also saves the host’s precious time, as they are available online.

Online Party and catering supplies are highly on demand these days around the globe. From tablecloths, tableware to serving trays, all are only in a mouse-click distance. They can offer cheap pricing because of lower overhead costs as compared to large department store chains and similar retailers.

Many hosts are worried about actual color and quality of the online product range (one cannot ignore the fake online retailers). If the host is in any doubt about a product, they may ask for a sample at no extra cost.

Therefore, it is really the time to party even for the hosts. Go ahead and enjoy.

    Information About Wine Cellar Racks

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

A wine cellar rack allows any wine enthusiast to achieve a professional wine cellar in the comfort of their own home. Normally, wine racks are wall mounted, although they can be stacked as well. They range in size, and can hold anywhere from 10 – 300 bottles of wine. Depending on your needs and how many bottles you have to store, you’ll want to choose accordingly.

One of the best things about wine cellar racks is the fact that are customizable. You can fit them to your liking, or what looks best in your cellar. Wine racks will allow you to convert practically any space of your home or your cellar into a storage area for your wine in little to no time at all. All you have to do is set the racks up – then store your wines.

All wine bottles, no know matter what brand, needs to have the proper storage in order to maintain their original flavor. Those who know wines, know that the easiest and best way to store wine in bottles is put the bottles on their sides. When using a wine cellar rack, you’ll have the choice of individually storing the bottles, or grouping them together. Cellar racks are the ideal way to store wine bottles, especially if you have a large amount.

Wine racks and the way they store wines are essential for many reasons. With the wines being stored on it’s side, the sediments that will eventually settle over time are evenly distributed throughout the wines, which helps keep more of the original flavor. Along with helping to preserve the original flavor of the wine, the corks and labels are also preserved.

Unlike other forms of wine storage, wine cellar racks will work in any home, and they are very affordable as well. They come with detailed instructions, they are easy to assemble, and include everything you need to begin using your new rack immediately. You can also find a variety of sizes, colors, styles, and materials. Contrary to what you may think, wine cellar racks don’t take up a lot of space in your home. If you use them on their sides, they will take up even less space than if you were to stand them upright.

These days, wine cellar racks aren’t just for commercial use. Even though they are geared more towards large consumers, individual wine enthusiasts have a lot to gain with a wine cellar rack. You can find these racks at your local department store, or online. They don’t cost a lot of money either, yet they will give you the storage you need. No matter how much space you have to spare in your home – wine cellar racks will give you everything you need to store and preserve your wines.

    Santa’s Favorite Sweet Treats

    Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Santa loves his cookies. After all, it’s one of the most special traditions of Christmas Eve night–to leave Santa his share of cookies on a plate, alongside a tall glass of cold milk. But where did this special tradition get its roots? And why does everyone, even Santa, eat cookies and so many other sweets around Christmas time?

Hundreds of years ago when celebrating Christmas first became an international pastime, sugar was a very expensive commodity. It wasn’t something to be enjoyed every day, unless you were fabulously wealthy. The only times ordinary folks ate sugary treats was on special occasions, like high holy days, birthdays, and weddings. And of course, the only people who could get their hands on treats were close family members, friends, and very important people, such as Santa Claus.

So when people had the chance to have sweet treats, they went all out. Cookies became all the rage in Europe, even as far back as the Middle Ages. Each country in Europe came up with their own special favorite type of cookie. Germans loved to make ginger bread cookies and butter cookies called Spritz. Swedish families baked ginger and pepper cookies, prized as much for their spiciness as their sweetness. And believe it or not, British folks took a liking to fruit cake.

In the United States, where immigrants from all over Europe came in the 1800s and 1900s, all of these cookie traditions came too. So instead of favoring one type of Christmas cookie, Americans have the good fortune of having a lot of different cookies to choose from. Americans also added their own touch to the Christmas cookie tradition. Beginning in the early 1900s, Americans started making metal cookie cutters, with funny shapes like Christmas trees, angels, and reindeer, and they used these cutters to make cookies of every shape and color.

Of course, some folks have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads come Christmas. We may not leave a plate of sugar plums out for Santa on Christmas Eve, but these candied treats are still an important part of the holiday tradition. Technically, sugar plums are seeds coated with confectionary sugar, and they date back almost as far as Christmas cookies. According to the accounts of the day, people enjoyed sugar plums during the holidays as far back as the middle of the 1600s.

Of course, possibly the most famous sweet holiday treat, or should we say infamous, is the fruit cake. As we mentioned earlier, we can blame the British for this. It was in the Middle Ages that this treat started, but back then, it probably was more edible than it is today. The fruit cake of yesteryear was more a bread, with some dried fruit mixed in, more like today’s raisin bread.

Nowadays, fruit cake is a glazed over, fruity feast. Back in the day, these types of cakes were considered only worthy of the very rich. Today, fruit cake has become a traditional holiday joke. And no, don’t leave a slice for Santa.
