Choose To Be Wealthy

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

You want to be wealthy and have unlimited income. You also have a dozen different books from famous authors sitting on your bookshelf collecting dust and you are still not rich. This means that either every one of those “get rich” authors were scammers or you have a shortcoming that is holding you back from achieving infinite wealth.

As I write, I am going to give you methods to increase your income as well as methods that will help you change habits that may be holding you back. So lets start with some of the wealth demons that could be keeping you from getting rich. Here are the big players; 1. Fear 2. Indecision 3. Laziness 4. Bad Patterns 5. Arrogance 6. Disappointment

Wealth Demon One: FEAR

Playing it safe has screwed more people out of their dreams than any other factor I can think of. I have seen people with no talent that bring nothing outstanding to the table excel and make a big name for themselves through nothing more than sheer guts. They just have no fear of rejection, failure, success or in other words they just keep on coming like a determined dog after a bone. When you want something so bad that all obstacles are merely interesting puzzles to be figured out and not mountains of woe, you are on your way.

Chances must be taken because fortune favors the bold. People that play it safe are the mainstream of society. This is the way things run from day to day. People wake up, go to work, pay the bills, and the machine of society keeps on churning in a predictable and easy to manage way. Most people like it that way. For the rich and those that are about to become very wealthy, the right chances taken every day are exciting and can be very rewarding. When you feel fear, you are in the right territory. Fear keeps the mainstream middle class society in their place and leaves the loot for you and I to enjoy. Leading us into the next point, remember that fortune favors the bold, not the stupid. There is a big difference.

Wealth Demon Two: INDECISION –THE PUPPET MASTER

Stocks are going to crash, the real estate bubble is about to burst and your mattress is the only safe place to keep your money. Unless your house starts on fire, so you better bury some money in the back yard too. The puppet master demon will keep you chasing your tail with doubts. These doubts will keep you from committing to any particular stream of income opportunity. Diversification is fine if you have enough resources to allot a fair amount to each, but it you never take the chance of putting a large amount of your eggs into a central money investment you will never get the big payoffs. Better yet, lets move onto point number three. That’s laziness and if you stop being lazy, you can learn how to invest without using much of your own money at all.

Wealth Demon Three: SLOTH –THE RULER OF LAZINESS

Getting rich and making a ton of cash isn’t really that hard. Its not hard once you learn a bit about how it all really works. Guess what though? You cant learn the system if you don’t get off your butt and do some learning. Shut off the T.V., get off the couch and go to the library. Find the books you need to learn the system of wealth and money. Find the book that answers the questions about money that have you stuck where you are now. Beating laziness becomes easy once passion bites you. Once you get a sniff of what is possible, Sloth wont have a chance.

If you don’t know where to start, then start general. Pick up a title that looks interesting and while you are reading that book, see where you get stumped. Is it the part about no cash down mortgages or is it the part about no load mutual funds? Wherever you are short on the I.Q. of wealth and money, get proactive and get the ammo you need for your upcoming battle.

Next time we will talk about the demon of PATTERN and some of his friends.

You Are Being Politically Manipulated

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Have you ever had a friend hit you with the classic word trap, “Have you stopped beating your wife?” Answer yes or answer no, and you incriminate yourself. This joke is based on the technique of using an implicit premise. While it may get a laugh, it is also used by politicians as more than a joke.

Political manipulation is most effectively accomplished when you control the framework in which others can argue and, ultimately, think. For example, if you want to get your viewpoint accepted without openly debating it, you make it an assumption, a premise for any other debates. Not only will you win the public over to your view, but you will effectively exclude the possibility of any serious opposition.

Suppose many years ago a government wanted to expand it’s power to by having control over what people put in their bodies. There may have been real debate among the populace as to whether this is an appropriate function of law or government. Many may not have wanted such a “war” on drugs, which, after all, is just a war on people who ingest certain plants or chemicals.

How, then, does the government get the public to accept such control? By simply presuming that all people want to see drug use controlled, and arguing only on the basis of the best way to do that. The politicians and the public can argue all they want about whether more treatment or stricter laws are needed. In fact, such argument only strengthens the underlying premise.

Soon anyone who questions whether there should be any government involvement in this area is on the “fringe.” They are not allowed in the “serious” debates, because they don’t share this now “obvious” premise. The control of government over what goes into a person’s body is assured, and it’s power to regulate peoples lives in other similar ways is easily expanded.

As I write this the U.S. government has held people in prisons for years without charges or access to attorneys. They claim this is okay because these prisoners are not citizens. The public accepts this, because the premise has been firmly established in their minds that “rights” are granted by governments.

The founders of this country explicitly stated that rights are inherent in all humans. They fought against the idea that rights are mere “privileges” bestowed by governments. However, this second idea has become the basis for all argument now, and so even the opposition is unable to make logical arguments against these current violations of human rights. Implicit premises are a powerful method of control. We should get in the habit of recognizing the premises hidden in political debate.

Rule Their Language – Rule Their Thoughts

Another way to politically manipulate is to carefully choose the labels or words used. For example, social security is referred to as a “fund” or even a “retirement fund.” Of course, not a penny was ever actually invested in any “fund.” The payments are taken from current tax revenues, so it is a welfare program, to be more precise.

Welfare, of course, is less acceptable to the public, so the truth of this pyramid scheme (a much more accurate label) is hidden behind better labels. You can see how the words used control the debate. If you are for this kind of “welfare program,” you get get more mileage out of “social security retirement fund.”

Words matter greatly. It might be politically difficult to get millions of dollars to spend on bombs designed to cut people to pieces, right? Perhaps that’s why they are called “daisy cutters.” Start paying attention, and you’ll see how words are being used to influence and politically influence you.

Scavenger Hunt

“I entered the house and saw a trail of rose petals leading to the drawing room; I went there and found a note kept on the table by my husband that requested me to go to the bedroom. Happily and in excitement I moved towards the bedroom. Now it was really too much, there was a note kept on the bed directing me to come to the Daniel. If he had to take me for dinner why couldn’t he wait for me and we would have gone together was the first thought that came to my mind. By I really appreciated his way of inviting me for a dinner. Any way I reached my destination “the Daniel” where I just could not find my husband. Where could he have been, I was getting anxious when a attendant came up to me and guided me to a specially corner where my husband was standing with a warm welcoming smile. The table had been laid with my favorite food and wine. It really was a pleasant surprise and an awesome experience. We had a great time together and enjoyed the dinner. I really loved my husband more for being so thoughtful. What else could ask for? But he had much more in store for me. After dinner he took me to a special room in the hotel. How could anybody be so thoughtful and caring? The room was decorated with my favorite, the red roses. And now it was my turn to give. Our relationship is still the same as it was years ago. My husband played such scavenger hunt when he felt our relationship was lacking in something so that our love for each other never fades. We are very close and in love with each other as when we met for the first time. In fact I feel it has grown even stronger.” This is an experienced shared by a couple who have stayed together with each other since they got married and now have grand children.

The idea to share this experience is to make couples realize that such actions in life add spice to your relationship and help to know your partners true feelings and at the same time express your own feelings. Article On Leadership

Last Updated: 2011/10/04

It is amazing how much you can learn by doing, and how much more you can learn by explaining. When I used to work as a

tutor, I would always have to explain writing and comprehension skills to my students. I would have to tell them how to look at a book, read a chapter, and get all of the important information out of that chapter. Many of them had serious learning disabilities, so it could be a serious challenge to get them to understand and remember all of the relevant facts. Working that job made me a better reader, as I learned to use the tricks that I told the students in my own personal reading.

The article on leadership that I wrote had a similar effect on my leadership skills. You see, at work we had sort of a slacker culture. I won’t say that we didn’t get the job done, but we certainly did not go above and beyond and give it 110%. We tried leadership seminars, leadership courses – if it involves leadership, we tried it. We tried NLP, Life Coaching – all of that trendy stuff. Finally, the boss had the revelation that we would only learn by explaining it to others. He gave each of us the assignment to write an article on leadership, and then we shared them in a group.

Well, I can tell you, none of us were thrilled by this article on leadership business. We much preferred the seminars, where we would be paid to listen to some self-appointed guru of life skills psych us up with commonsense notions and feel-good slogans and provide us with a free lunch. In the course of these seminars, we had already read many articles on leadership. We all figured that it would be easy to write our own article on leadership, using the same tired slogans that we had heard week after week.

When we finally did get down to sharing the articles on leadership with each other, it became clear that something interesting had happened. Instead of faking our way through it, we all actually took the time to think about leadership, and came up with some useful observations. By having to explain what leadership meant to us, we had to get in touch with our own feelings about it. We were forced, in writing an article on leadership, to actually become better leaders. It worked much better than anyone – even the boss – expected.

Determining Your Treadmills Rating

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

Before you make your treadmill purchase, it is important to consider the treadmill rating of the model you want to buy. Finding and purchasing a treadmill can be an excellent start to your fitness program. Treadmills are a great way to exercise. They are an excellent piece of equipment most people add to their home gyms.

People purchase treadmills for a number of reasons. First, two of the most popular forms of exercise are running and walking, and treadmills are designed to accommodate both. The speed and incline controls on a treadmill were designed to let the user control the machine to fit his or her needs. Treadmills also offer you the same weather-proof workout despite the excruciating heat of summer, bitter cold of winter, vicious wind of spring, or incessant rain of fall. The consistency of workout is one of the reasons people succeed in an exercise program.

Treadmills also offer a low impact workout, which can be quite helpful to those with joint or mobility problems. Their deck surfaces are designed to reduce pressure on your joints and absorb the impact of your feet as they repeatedly hit the surface. Most treadmills offer some variety as well. Depending on the model you purchase, many treadmills offer different programs to vary your workout speed and level of difficulty.

Finding A Treadmill Rating

Buying the first model you see is a poor idea. Before you buy your treadmill, consider the ratings on the best treadmills for you. There are a number of different magazines that offer ratings on everything from digital cameras to exercise equipment. Most of these do a special issue with rated exercise equipment. You can also check websites for reports on the top models. They will typically name the best treadmill product of the year at least once during the course of the exercise boom season.

What Causes Panic Attacks and How to Tell If you Are Having One

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

The characterization of a anxiety panic attack is a panic attack that is induced as a result of unnatural levels of anxiety. Not just limited to major stressful events or concerns, anxiety attacks can be related to anything. An anxiety panic attack can be caused by anxiety over a party, a loved one, even anxiety over what clothes to wear.

The focus of the attack is one of the key features to an anxiety panic attack. Usually when a person experiences such panic they will have a central trigger. The trigger tends to be the same thing for those who experience chronic panic attacks. Anytime individuals who suffer from agoraphobia travel they tend to have an anxiety panic attack or when they travel beyond a safe distance such as their doorstep.

Triggers

The trigger for an anxiety panic attack will vary according to the situation for most people. The body’s natural reaction to the high levels of stress can be triggered at times of extreme stress panic. The accepted main reason behind any panic attack is known as the fight or flight reaction. The body will react when a person experiences an event that is extremely stressful or traumatic. An extreme reaction to the situation is caused by the release of chemicals into a persons system.

A reactive stressor triggers chemicals that cause an anxiety panic attack. The body assumes there is some danger even if there is no need for it and feels it must react, this is a panic attack. Many key factors can mark an anxiety panic attack. Signs of an attack include overwhelming feelings of fear and hopelessness, increased heart rate, sweating, tingling in the extremities, headaches, nausea and extreme emotional fluctuations.

Symptoms

Since the symptoms are usually a mixed bag when it comes to panic the list can be extensive. The immense feeling of anxiety is mentioned by any panic sufferer when they have an anxiety panic attack. They feel as if nothing can help them, this is a common major symptom that marks the start of an attack.

In most cases an anxiety panic attack can be controlled which is a good thing. To help control panics you should learn exercise, controlled breathing, healthy diet, relaxation techniques and even just have someone to be there and listen. Finding out what causes the panic and reducing this factor in your life is often the key to helping panic attacks.

Container Gardening Ideas For Your Home

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

Many gardeners have given up on the idea of a garden because they lack space, time or lots of experience. But if growing plants is an interest of yours container gardening could be your answer. Container gardens will allow you to enjoy “playing in the dirt” without investing a lot of time or money. You can get very creative in container gardening using vegetables, decorative grasses or flowers and herbs. You can plant a container garden with any plant that would grow outside. The trick is to come up with some creative ideas for your container garden.

You should do some research at your local nursery or on the internet to choose the plants you wish to grow to help you come up with some ideas. Try to use plants that complement each other and have the same basic needs for water, air and light.

A container garden idea that has taken off recently is the landscape container. Some people plant a simple evergreen tree in a container with good drainage to place at their front door. Or you could plant an assortment of flowers for a bright and beautiful vista. If you do plant flowers, add plants that spill over the sides of the container to add more visuals and interest. What ever container gardening idea you can come up with can be placed on a deck, patio, and balcony or by the front doors. Put them somewhere that your family and friends can enjoy.

You can grow vegetables in containers but choose wisely. Vegetables like squash and pole beans need lots of space, while tomatoes need a deep pot. When you grow your own vegetables you will have tasty produce not the bland stuff that is in the grocery store. Nothing tastes better than a tomato right off the vine. There are many chefs and good home cooks that grow their own for just this reason. Don’t forget to pot some herbs, they are pretty plants and add zest to your meals.

But don’t just stick to vegetables and herbs; why not add fruit trees too? Instead of using an evergreen tree, pot a fruit tree instead. There are many dwarf varieties available that work best in pots since with pots there is less soil therefore less nutrients to draw from. If you live in a year round warm climate citrus trees are perfect. In other regions, stick to pear, apple and cherry trees. Another good container gardening idea is to grow strawberries. With strawberries climate does not matter since you can bring the container inside. Fresh strawberries are amazingly sweet and delicious. Imagine how good a bowl of fresh strawberries will be, strawberries that you have just picked.

Remember that container gardens dry out more quickly than traditional gardens. Be diligent about watering your plants if you don’t want your container gardening ideas to wither and die. Container gardens must be fertilized too. Keep a small notebook handy so you can write down the needs of your plant so you will always know when to water or feed. Keep an eye out for pests. If you find a container that has an infestation, isolate it immediately and treat it with a natural pesticide. You don’t want harsh chemicals on fruits, vegetables or herbs. A good natural pesticide recipe is:

In a jar, combine 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid and 1 cup vegetable oil. Shake vigorously. In an empty spray bottle, combine 2 teaspoons of this mixture and 1 cup water. Use at ten-day intervals (or more often if needed) to rid plants of whiteflies, mites, aphids, scales, and other pests.   So, do some research, come up with your own unique container gardening ideas, gather your materials and get to work. The fruits of your labor will be amazing.

Happy Container Gardening!

Human Conditioning

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

The predominant role human conditioning plays in a stressful environment. Perspective, reaction and remedy. How music can help.

Creating music for stress management can be a rather complicated process. Due to the nature of stress, music must promote and sustain a therapeutic ambience and provide a calming influence that opens the door to reflection, corrective action and ultimately, inner peace. Consequently, creative effort in this genre often leads to considerations that have more to do with psychology than music per se.

In its development stages a musical sequence may point to possibilities for music therapy, but to successfully complete the final sequence, one must consider the variables of human nature.

Whether or not these musical possibilities grow into something of benefit depends upon many factors, not the least of which is the creation of sound structures that are compatible with and beneficial to the human organism.

Another extremely important issue that must be considered during the composition process is that all humans are conditioned since birth and there is little that humans experience throughout their lives that is not filtered through previous layers of conditioning.

At first glance, human conditioning may appear to have little if any relationship to stress management, anxiety, burnout – or for that matter, music. But a closer look reveals the connection.

To understand how this connection works, we’ll need to dig into some information that may seem a bit ‘heavy’. The subject of conditioning is extensive and of necessity, comment here must be confined to only a few of its more prominent twists and turns.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with the statements presented here, the following is the result of years of observation, study and application. Its presentation here is intended to promote a better understanding of how and why we so often react in counter-productive ways when dealing with stressful conditions.

Admittedly, this information is but a small part of a much deeper subject. Nonetheless, it is my sincere hope that what is presented here will provide some insight for those who suffer from the unpleasant, debilitating and unhealthy conditions of stress. That said, please read on and it will become apparent that where human conditioning is concerned, almost everything is related. ________________________________________________________________________________

The problem

When one studies the work of men such as Roger Sperry, Freud, Jung, Wilhem Reich and others, it becomes clear that (1) general reaction to stressful conditions tends to be aberrant and (2) the manner in which humans perceive and react is, for the most part, a learned behavior.

This learned behavior has much to do with how we view ourselves and our place in society. The picture that we present to the outside world is our identity, or image, of who we think we are and that image is the direct result of everything we have been taught and everything that has ever happened to us.

What Role Does Your Backyard Bird Garden Have In Natural Bird Habitats?

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

All yards can, potentially, be natural bird habitats.

Even though our neighborhoods occupy what was once their natural habitat, it needn’t be a catastrophe. The right selection and location of plants will offer a nearly natural habitat for wild birds.

Amazingly, song birds eagerly accept this substitution, as our backyard bird gardens become an extension of the surrounding natural habitat.

Converting your backyard into a bird garden can be the focus of many family activities. In fact, just watching and feeding wild birds is a great way for families to start practicing bird conservation… right at home.

Keep in mind that those family members with limited mobility can still enjoy nature from the deck or patio, even a window. Imagine the impact of a bird garden for seniors and shut-ins, and for the ill or disabled.

Bird gardens are perfect conservation classrooms. Discovering the different bird species in your area can be very exciting.

You will need a good, easy-to-use field guide, such as Birds of North America, or Peterson’s East and West. An online search for “bird field guides” will provide you with many more.

You will learn that birds are identified according to their physical characteristics. For example, you can easily see the difference between a chicken and a robin.

These characteristics are helpful in identifying the birds that visit your backyard bird habitat : Size – overall ; Shape of their bodies; Coloring; Special markings; Shapes of their beaks; Shape of their wings and their feet while in flight.

Your family, especially the kids, will become experts at distinguishing bird calls. Each species is unique, and most are obvious. A Sparrow’s “chipping” is quite plain in comparison to a Cardinal’s lovely “trilling” song.

A natural bird habitat can actually be a neighborhood of backyards (from a bird’s point of view)… and each backyard gardener contributes to the success of this unusual bird habitat.

So, the question remains… just how vital is your individual backyard garden to song wild birds?

If you have selected and located your plantings correctly, wild birds will treat your backyard garden as a natural continuation of their normal habitat.

And the answer is… you and your bird garden are absolutely vital to their survival!

Garden Plants for the Home Gardener

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

Confused about which bedding plants to buy? Bedding plants can refer to flowers, shrubs, herbs, vegetables, fruits, and many more. There are also gardening plants that are in season at different times of the year, some in fall and winter, others in spring and summer. The type of garden you are planting will determine the bedding plant choice; there are plenty of gardening plants available to suit your preferences.

If you want garden plants that you can eventually eat instead of just look at, vegetables, herbs, and fruits are the clear choice. Edible plants add an excitement to gardening because of the produce available at harvest time. The main vegetables grown in smaller, home gardens as well as larger ones include corn, peas, cucumbers, potatoes, squash, peppers, onions, carrots, spinach, lettuce, and beets. Popular fruits are pears, plums, tomatoes, blueberries, apricots, cherries, and strawberries. Herbs are used for their wonderful fragrances, to spice up a salad, and in cooking. Getting started with indoor gardening

Last Updated: 2011/10/01

When the weather prevents you from going outside to enjoy some gardening, it’s just as beneficial and effective to do some indoor gardening instead. In this way, you can indulge in some gardening all year round, while still keeping warm and dry. Better yet, your plants also keep warm and out of harms way from frosts, slugs and deer! By the end of reading this article, you will have many indoor gardening ideas and tips that will have you well on your way to growing lots of wonderful indoor plants and flowers.

Indoor gardening will allow you to have much more flexibility when growing certain types of plants that need a specific temperature. For example, you could grow whatever vegetables you feel like all year round, and not have to wait until they are in season to enjoy their benefits. It also allows you to grow them organically to your own personal requirements.

Many people decide to grow plants in a greenhouse, as this is a form of indoor gardening, and perhaps the most popular. The temperature within the greenhouse is controlled by you, and can be adjusted to suit all kinds of plants. They are made out of either glass or plastic material, and can be bought or made in many different sizes. They are a tried and tested method of indoor gardening, as many professional and amateur gardeners use them, so you are safe in the knowledge that they are suitable for all purposes.

If your budget doesn’t stretch to buying a greenhouse, there are many different indoor gardening ideas that are a lot simpler and cheaper, such as just having some pots in a warm area, perhaps in a conservatory or on a sunny windowsill. However, you will have to bear in mind the type of plants that you wish to grow, as you may need a lot of space! If you don’t have a lot of space, there are several plants that can be grown indoors in a smaller space, such as cherry tomatoes. They don’t require a large pot, as they don’t grow too big.

The room that you choose to grow your plants in should be warm and receive a lot of sunlight. You will have to ensure that there is enough heat and sun for the specific plants that you wish to grow, perhaps speak to someone at your local garden centre and they should be able to advise you on some indoor gardening ideas and on what conditions your plants need.

Another indoor gardening idea is that you may wish to place your plants at different places around your house, so you benefit from colours and well-oxygenated air throughout the house. However, when growing plants like this, you have to ensure that they will constantly have enough light, warmth and humidity.

If you wish to get started straight away, it is a good idea to buy an indoor gardening kit from a garden centre, which will give you all the equipment and instructions that you need to begin. It will also allow you to choose exactly what type of garden you want in your house. You should also consider the difficulty of each kit, and choose one specifically designed for beginners to indoor gardening.

It is also worthwhile to bear in mind that if young children or animals can access the plants, it could be dangerous for both them and the plants! If either children or animals tries to eat your plants, it could seriously harm them depending on the type of plant. It could also kill your plant. If it’s difficult for you to place your plants out of reach of children and animals, then perhaps research plants that are not dangerous at all, as this could be a solution. However, again, I advise you to talk to someone at your local garden centre.

The Tale That Dogs the WAG

Last Updated: 2011/10/01

Glancing through the red-tops on certain days over the past few weeks, one could be forgiven for thinking that England’s World Cup bid revolved not around 11 strapping male athletes on the pitch in Gelsenkirchen, but rather the occasionally dubious antics of a group of Cristal fuelled, bejewelled glamour queens in Manolo Blahniks and oversized sunglasses.

Certainly this does not constitute any great departure from form on the part of either the tabloid reporters or the WAGs themselves. The likes of Victoria Beckham (neé Posh Spice), Coleen Mcloughlin et al enjoy a tumultuous but mutually beneficial relationship with the tabloid press the year round; the designer label and conspicuous consumption led lifestyle financed by their HABs’ (Husbands and Boyfriends’) nosebleed-inducing salaries providing the perfect fodder for the type of journalist that eschews ‘real’ news and the tabloids in turn providing that all important limelight presence that is the lifeblood of glamour models and dried up pop has-beens. Few can have been generally shocked at the ‘mistake’ that saw the WAGs and other family members of the England team booked into the same hotel as the majority of the British press deployed to cover the World Cup. For a few short weeks the Brenner’s Park Hotel played host to a bona fide match made in Heaven as the WAGs trailed journalists pied-piper-like around Baden Baden’s hot spots, handing out tabloid-friendly photo opportunities and faux-shocking examples of ‘scandalous’ behaviour with the generosity of spirit of an anorexic at a soup kitchen. This was truly the blonde leading the bland.

Tabloid journalists, by their very nature, are risky bedfellows who specialise in biting the hand that feeds. That docile, friendly poodle in the lap of the IT girl can turn to a ravening, bloodthirsty pack animal quicker than you can say ‘deviated septum’, and this summer’s WAG-watching exercise saw its fair share of savagery. Like wolves or hyenas, when packs of tabloid journalists select their prey they single out the weakest individuals on the outside of the herd. Top spot on the tabloid maul-o-meter in this case must go to Abigail Clancy, (erstwhile?) girlfriend of Peter Crouch, lambasted not only for having done the dirty on England’s Unlikeliest Athlete but for having come clean to him about it mere hours before England’s game against Trinidad and Tobago in which Crouch scored the opening goal. Whilst we can all appreciate that such news is never good, and few would deny that its delivery could have been better timed, the majority of tabloid umbrage at this fact seems to be drawn from the assumption that the pain of receiving such news might have stymied Crouch’s game. This, of course, quite ignores the fact that until Crouch’s golden moment in the 83rd minute and his subsequent lamentable dance display he was one of the lesser known stars of English football whose very inclusion in the squad was the subject of dark and doubtful mutterings in some quarters. Had Abi Clancy’s relationship misdemeanours indeed put the kybosh on Crouch’s ability to play at top level, the goal would never have gone in and the entire sorry episode would barely have been newsworthy to start with. There again, when did we ever look to the tabloids for logic?

Plant A Perennial Garden

Last Updated: 2011/10/01

If you want a garden that will reappear year after year plant a Perennial Garden. There are many plants that need to be grown from transplants or from seed every year but perennial gardens will come back faithfully if you treat them right. Some of the perennials include caladium, aloe, iris, yucca and tulips. A great example of a hardy perennial is the yucca which grows in the desert with no care, yet they grow, even thrive.

Don’t take that as if perennials will need no work or care. If you want to enjoy your perennial garden you will have to provide some care and maintenance. I don’t know of any garden you can plant and forget. Even if you have chosen plants that can withstand some neglect you will still need to tend to it from time to time. This is a good tip to keep in mind when choosing your plants.

Any garden, perennial or otherwise, will need some research and a plan. You need to know the requirements of each plant; how much sun, how much water, and the PH of the soil. After you have figured out their needs you will be able to find the ideal spot for your perennial garden. You must know what planting zone you live in so you can choose wisely. Pick plants that are proportional to the garden. Keep their sizes and watering needs similar. It would be disastrous to plant a perennial that needs moist soil next to one that likes a dry atmosphere. You should be able to get your questions answered at your nursery center or on the internet. There are many garden clubs on the internet so think about joining one that is all about perennials. You can use lots of color in your perennial garden but try to keep them in complimentary hues.

Do lots of research on any pests that will attack your perennial garden. Here again, the internet is a font of information. Go to a search engine, type in the name of your plants and add pests. You will find all the information that you need. For instance, squirrels love to dig up bulbs and eat them. You can eliminate the problem by placing chicken wire over the planted wire so the squirrels can’t get to them.

Be sure to consider the growing season of each individual plant. Some flower in early spring, some in summer and some in the fall. With a good plan a gardener can have blooms all through the growing seasons. Careful planning will ensure beautiful, colorful perennial gardens through the year.

The hardest year for your perennial garden will be the first year and will be the least attractive. Understand that these plants are just taking root and settling in to their new spot. In year two, the plants will start to show you what is come. At this time you may wish to move a few of the plants or add and detract some. The basic “bones” of your garden is starting to show and this is the time for rearranging to make it more pleasing to the eye. Now you arrive at year three and you will reap the rewards of your labor and care. Your friends and neighbors will marvel at your skills as a gardener. You can make some changes in the third year but not too many or you will have to wait another three years for a beautiful perennial garden.

Take some time to enjoy your garden while sitting outside in your yard. Cut some of the blooms to take inside so you can enjoy them in your home. Your perennial garden was created out of love and planning. Now is the time to relax and enjoy your handiwork.

Happy Gardening!

Hardy annuals are beautiful plants that will produce flowers even in the cold wintertime season. Unlike other annuals these hardy annual flowers don’t like hot weather condition as they are not heat tolerant.

The types of hardy annual flowers that you can bargain include calendula, foxglove, viola, sweet-smelling alyssum, stocks, cornflowers, pansy, larkspur and the many varieties of dianthus cultivars. These half hardy annuals don’t mind damp cold weather condition but they can’t live during the cold rough months of winter. You will need to plant these annual flowers after the last spring frost. Unlike tender annuals these half hardy annuals have no need of warm soil conditions for the seeds to begin sprouting.

While some flower species can’t tolerate lots of hot summertime weather the half hardy annuals may sometimes droop for the weather condition but they will perk up in the subsequently summertime months. You can take some tender annuals like scarlet sage, morning glory, petunias, begonias, celosia, balsam, nasturtium, and verbena.
