Overcoming Test Anxiety – Some Tools and Tips.
We all are familiar with some sort of nervousness or anxiety now and then in our day to day life. One needs not be a scientist to understand that this nervousness grows when the incident that is going to take place in near future or the accident that has just happened will directly or indirectly affect our life.
Most students do experience some sort of anxiety, an uneasiness or apprehension during test or examination due to their over-concern, worry or fear. It is found that test anxieties sometimes causes mental blocks and the students leave the answer script blank though they knew the correct answer.
Researchers say that, anxiety creates a kind of “noise” or “mental static” in our brain that eventually blocks the ability to retrieve and use the data stored in our memory and also affects our normal reasoning and comprehension skills.
But how can we overcome test anxiety!
The test preparation needs to be started very early and there is no last minute suggestion or easy way outs to overcome the situation.
If one is conscious of his test anxiety he must take special care about studying strategically. Mind mapping is a good way of dealing with this, where you create a diagram that reflects the summary and important points or facts like dates of the text. The widely used tool in this segment is the tree structure. The basic point is that it creates an image that can be remembered easily if you can just get hold of one thread.
While preparing for the examination, take a step by step procedure and sharpen your abilities by appearing for mock-tests. The mock tests can help you approach the real test with much confidence. Do not forget to take care of “time management” when you appear for mock test.
One should stay relaxed during examination and it can only be done if he or she is well prepared for it beforehand. Do not forget to have a sound sleep on the night before the examination and do not go to the hall in empty stomach.
Be positive throughout the time; you know better than any body that it is not so heard a nut that you cannot crack. There you are as better as much you think yourself to be.
If anything goes wrong, take a deep breath and start again or skip to the next question, if necessary, come back to it later.
At the end spend some time to review the answer script.
Some test anxiety overcome programs are available to assist students in reducing test anxiety and other types of learning and performance blocks like Test-Edge or Freeze-Framer. These tools help students to dramatically improve their mental and emotional balance and systems. The National Demonstration Study found that these programs were highly successful in reducing test anxiety and improving test scores for students.
We all wish you best of luck for your success in the next examination.
Switch to Compact Fluorescent Bulbs to Save Money and Energy
The fluorescent bulbs of today are a far cry from those loudly buzzing, sterile white tubes seen in offices and hospitals in the 80′s. Now available in a wide range of styles and “color temperatures,” eco-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are designed for the home and screw into many of the medium socket and candelabra lamps sold on our site. Use them in ceiling fixtures, sconces, chandeliers and other light fixtures.
Very simply put, CFLs generate light when electrons from the bulb’s ballast collide with mercury vapor throughout the bulb’s length, which in turn stimulates a phosphor coating on the inside of the glass. The result is a steady luminescence that is also incredibly energy-efficient, because more energy is spent on producing light (measured in lumens) and less is wasted on producing heat! This is why CFLs stay cooler to the touch than an incandescent bulb, and why a low-watt CFL brightens a room with the same intensity of a high watt incandescent bulb. Incandescent bulbs and their CFL equivalent are as follows:
60 Watts=13-18 Watts CFL
75 Watts=18-22 Watts CFL
100 Watts=23-28 Watts CFL
150 Watts=30-38 Watts CFL
But it gets even better! Because compact fluorescent lamps use about 66% less energy than incandescent bulbs for the same amount of light, you can save up to $45 dollars a year when you choose an 18 watt CFL over a 75 watt incandescent bulb. Within the first 500 hours of use, your bulb has made up for it’s initially higher price. What’s more, compact fluorescent bulbs last an average of 10 to 15 times longer than a standard filament bulb, putting an end to chronic bulb replacement and halting the surge of burnt out bulbs entering our landfills. And since CFL’s expend less energy, there is less demand on electric power plants that burn polluting fossil fuels. Amazingly, swapping out ONE incandescent bulb with a CFL will keep half a ton of CO2 out of the air for the CFL’s lifetime! You can make a positive impact on the environment simply by screwing in a CFL.
Once a CFL is spent, it’s legal to throw it in the trash; however, these energy-efficient bulbs do contain trace amounts of mercury vapor. If they are sent to an incinerator, this mercury could enter the atmosphere. Instead, collect your CFLs for your community household hazardous waste collection for treatment and recycling; if a bulb breaks, take care not to inhale the vapor and promptly wipe up pieces with a wet rag. Toss everything, including the rag, into a plastic bag for proper disposal. It’s important to note that the overall benefits of a CFL’s energy-saving operation far outweigh any risk trace amounts of mercury vapor in the bulb may pose to landfills.

Packing Basics: The One Thing you Forgot
You packed up the truck, checked over your gear, and headed out into the outdoors for a great weekend or week of camping. Then it hits you: was it the lantern? The fishing tackle? Your favorite hunting knife? What was the one thing that you forgot? It doesn’t seem to be a question of whether you forgot something but rather what it was that was left behind and the relative importance of it. Maybe you have twenty different flashlights from twenty different trips, and you didn’t remember to put one of them in your truck. Whatever that one thing is, it may surely get left behind unless you plan ahead.
One of the most basic and most helpful things you can do to save yourself some aggravation and some trouble is to make a trip list. Write down every little thing that you think you will need on your trip, from matches to underwear, and write it early! Trying to make a list the night before you head out will mean enduring the same mental scramble that you would go through in the morning. Instead, begin making your list as soon as you decide to go on the trip and add the things you need to it each time you think of something. You will be so on top of the contents of your pack that you may even know the number of raisins included in your trail mix!
The second part of this plan is implementation. This means reading and following the list when you are packing your car or backpack. Flashlight? Check. Pack it, then cross it off or highlight it or whatever works for you. It is key that you don’t erase anything though. You can use this master list again when you are preparing for your next outdoor experience. In fact, as soon as you get back add anything that it would have been nice to have so that you will indeed have “it” next time. For instance, did you fall in the creek and have just enough socks for the weekend? Make a note to bring extra socks on the next trip.
There is a third hint that goes along with the list idea and that is to pack before the night before or morning of your trip. This will help to ensure that you are not running around in a panic trying to get through the list before your ride comes to pick you up or it gets too dark to head out. Start piling up your camping equipment four or five days before your departure date so that you have time to remember where you stored the sleeping bags and cooler or to find out that you need to buy batteries for the flashlights.
The earlier you pack the better. If you can, it would be a good idea to start loading your vehicle early as well. However, don’t leave things in your truck bed overnight unless you have a locked garage. Otherwise you may find your equipment missing in the morning. For added assurance, you may want to tape a note to your own windshield so that you will not forget to throw in your cooler, the table lantern, or the family tent. If you are going on an excursion where you will need to bring food, you should also make a grocery list and stash it in the car the week before you leave for your trip. This way you have the list with you when you stop at the grocery store on the way home from work. You will also have the list with you when you stop to pick up cooler items on the way out of town.
So you have made your list, checked it twice, and packed and re-packed your bags for the weekend. Pile them near the door or in one central location to minimize last minute stress and reduce loading time. Put the list in the glove compartment of the truck so that you can use it to re-pack the truck when you are heading home from your trip. You wouldn’t want to leave with one less flashlight, again.
Cellular Phones and the Benefit of SMS Messaging
In the modern era, cellular phones are seen almost as a necessity rather than an accessory. The features of modern cellular continues to grow with almost every model but one of the most popular features with all age groups is that of text messaging. The convenience and cost effectiveness of text messaging appeals to all and, as a result of its popularity, the cellular phone networks have been taking advantage of this.
This SMS culture is sweeping the world not just individual countries. It is these 160 characters that could be sent and received from one cellular phone to another which makes the world seem smaller these days. Text messaging keep family ties firm, cross distances, save friendships, deliver emergencies, campaign information… and the list goes on.
People with a disability find the benefits of text messaging particularly valuable. It enables them to participate in social networks that are otherwise difficult to access. Some debate that text messaging has negative effects such as the erroneous spelling used in this form of communication. This form of spelling is simply to save characters in order to remain within the 160 character limit. Regardless of this, the positive effects are undeniable.
Imagine the life of a person who is deaf. In ‘normal’ conversation, this person is limited and generally has to rely on others to let them know what is happening. Text messaging, however, is a form of communication that can be accessible to everyone. They are able to be like the common people when it comes to communicating with the people they want to keep in touch with. This gives deaf people the ability to be free and independent and removes the linguistic and geographic barriers.
With these reasons, SMS appears to be a very beneficial innovation in these modern times. We just hope that it will not be use for abusive practices that may be a threat to the world. These benefits are things we must be thankful for. However, there are also some points to be mindful of.
For instance, cellular phones are media for identity theft. This is due to “scanning” whereby third parties in the local area could intercept and eavesdrop in on calls. Another point is that Analogue phones could also be listened to on some radio scanners. This must be a warning to all cellular phone users; we have to be very careful in our use of our cellular phones. We could enjoy all the services these innovations offer but we have to see to it that we protect ourselves from untoward outcomes as well.
With man’s power of the mind, innovative ideas turn out to be solutions that lead to a better, more convenient life. We do not have to run miles at all, wait for weeks, venture on messages in bottles, we have the messages right on our fingertips. In the future, SMS would grow into a more complex level but let us keep its objectives neat and realistic. We live in a fast paced world which is constantly evolving but we still want to be able to keep up.
How to Get a Contemporary Look in Your Home
A home with a contemporary look features bright, airy and sophisticated living spaces that revel in all things current and chic, yet still offers quiet escape and comfort.
Contemporary design derives much of its boldness from pairing neutral colors, black and white with a restrained, artistic use of brighter colors. With a muted background of furniture, drapes, rugs and walls, carefully chosen colors will pop with dramatic results. For instance, consider leaving walls neutral except for one painted in your favorite vibrant hue. Because the Contemporary style stresses a minimalist approach, you can also use color to define areas and add pizzazz, such as painting a door or ceiling.
Keep floors basic with pale wood, vinyl, laminate or tile. Friends of the environment can use reclaimed wood for this type of flooring. Rugs should be a solid color or adorned with geometric patterns. If you want a more natural approach, hardy sisal and jute rugs are a popular trend.
There are two ways to approach lighting within the contemporary room. One way is to make the light, rather than the fixture, the focus. Accomplish this by placing spotlights out of sight, leaving their bright shafts of light to slant across walls for theatric effect. This is particularly useful for highlighting a favorite painting or photograph. If you want to focus attention of plants or sculptures, consider placing lights underneath your target, for a fresh uplight effect that casts shadow and adds interesting depth to the room. Another way to explore your lighting possibilities is to let the fixtures function as art and accessories. Along with chandeliers and pendants, track and recessed lighting contributes an artsy, streamlined feel to ceilings and is a popular trend in contemporary design.
For the most part, use neutral-toned furniture to unify your look. Lines should be smooth and geometric and free of carvings and decorative frills. Cotton, jute, wool and linen are all ideal fabrics for upholstery and comfortable to recline against. As ecological awareness reaches new levels, the contemporary furniture market is crafting more and more pieces from recycled items or sustainable lumber, like the items found on the GREENCulture furniture site. Woods like beech, birch and pine are used, with plywood and medium density fiberboards gaining recognition as easy-to-clean, low maintenance alternatives to solid woods. Other contemporary materials commonly found in this furniture style include steel, glass, plastics and stone.
With contemporary interiors, resist the urge to fill open space with more accessories. The open space is an accessory that is crucial to creating an airy, structural environment in keeping with contemporary design’s minimalist look. Accents should be spare and include textured drapes and textiles that lack busy or fluid patterns. For this reason, sticking with two-tones is a safe bet. Apply this to any flower arrangements you plan to use, including placing a few bold and big blooms in glass vases and avoiding intricate bundles of buds. If you want to supply plush comfort to your deep seated chairs and sofas, throw on a few pillows in solid colors that retain a geometric shape.

Renovating Your Kitchen In A Single Weekend
The kitchen is the most frequented room in the house. It is modernized, updated and recreated more than any other room in the house. If a house wants to increase its resale value, a kitchen is one the first rooms to be renovated. Most kitchen renovation jobs, if everything goes according to the master plan – and what renovation does, last from seven to nine weeks. If things do not go as planned it can take a lot longer. Each kitchen has its own demands and the need to address the differences causes a variation in the time spent. Factors, such as the extent of the project, the age, and condition of the house, affect the time frame. If the kitchen is an older model located in an outdated house, chances are problems will be higher than for a more up-to-date model.
Renovating your kitchen in a weekend, offers challenges and restrictions. Only so much can be undertaken. Such a project also means serious preparatory planning must take place first.
Before you start, sit down and prepare a design plan. What is your vision of the kitchen? Do not get carried away. For a short project such as this, stick to basics. Do not consider ripping down load-bearing walls and redoing all the wiring. Think more along the lines of cosmetics, removing, replacing or repositioning appliances and cabinets and floor retiling.
In such a short span, it is best to concentrate on one particular aspect. Choose one major and maybe one minor undertaking. Do not attack the project in a frenzied manner without rhyme or reason. Proceed logically to consider what is best done now. Keep in mind the time frame – a weekend is short in terms of renovation. Keeping this in mind will influence the outcome as well as the important planning perspective.
Combine this with a financial reality check. How much can you afford to spend? Look at the availability of helpers – preferably people who have done this before or have some knowledge in the area. Examine logistics and do not forget to order the materials with enough leeway in case there are changes in plans or late delivery.
There are a number of things to consider in terms of placement of appliances. In order to get optimum benefits provide the working areas of the refrigerator, sink, and stove top with sufficient room in terms of both counter top and floor. Consider all doors both to and in the kitchen require clear and safe room to open and close. Space in front of the refrigerator is an absolute must. If it means repositioning it, do so. The cook will thank you for it. Adding an adjacent counter will also win you praise. Counter space is an important essential of a well-functioning kitchen. A weekend project could focus on adding counter space, perhaps installing an island. Whatever you decide to do, remember to place everything you do not intend to use and what might get in the way, into labelled boxes, before storing them safely out of the way. Family pets should also be placed somewhere safe, maybe a kennel, until the work is completed. Small children and even significant others, might just want to find themselves elsewhere. Renovations can be long and messy projects. To do a major job in a weekend is not entirely feasible but, to do a significant renovation of your kitchen on a weekend is an obtainable goal.
Water Filters Opc
Water is very essential to our life. It germinates life. In fact water is life. It is the second most important thing after oxygen that man needs for survival. The importance of water to our survival can be understood from the fact that an average adult body is 55 to 75% water. 2/3 of our body is water (40 to 50 quarts). A human embryo is more than 80% water. A new born baby is 74% water. These figures reveal that our body is essentially water. In a 24 hour cycle, our body must replace 2.5 quarts of water daily.
But the problem is that pure water has become a rarity today. Few sources of pure water are left on our planet. The main reason for this menace is rapid industrialization and human bombardment. Careless industrialization has created tremendous pressure on the stock of water we have. Continuous drainage of industrial wastes into rivers has deteriorated the quality of water. And excessive use of water in various places across the globe has created scarcity of water. The situation is alarming. People are fighting for water. There is need to conserve water as we need lots of fresh water to stay healthy. Apart from aiding in digestion and absorption of food, water regulates body temperature and blood circulation, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, and removes toxins and other wastes. This “body water” also cushions joints and protects tissues and organs, including the spinal cord, from shock and damage. So, it is clear that pure water is necessary for us. And to have it, purification methods have to very good. There are two methods of purifying water, one is the direct method and the other one is the indirect method. Here I will tell you about the indirect method. Most indirect methods of cleanliness measurement depend on a solvent of some type to dissolve any contaminants left on the part so that they can then be analyzed using the method. This requires that the solvent used be stronger than the solvent that was originally used in the cleaning to remove any residual the actual cleaning solvent was not able to remove. Water filters opc is one of the indirect methods through which water is tested. Water filter opc gives both a count and size of particles in the solution measured, and can therefore be used to find out very specific information about the nature of the contaminants on the part. The method is typically useful when particle size is of interest, because, for example, particles below a certain size are acceptable as residual contamination while those above the designated size are not. OPC requires extraction equipment to prepare a sample for analysis, and the OPC equipment itself. Two major techniques are available for particle counting — light extinction and light scattering. The highlight of this product is that it can detect very small particles. But it is very costly.
To have a life full of vitality, install a quality water filter in your kitchen.
Installing Your Own Hardwood Floors
It used to be that you had to hire someone to put in your wood floors. Now, there are many different products that come pre-finished from the factory and can be laid out by a do it yourselfer. This saves time in sanding and sealing the floor. In addition, the newer tongue-and-groove products are much easier to install than older types of hardwood flooring products.
You will want to tear out all the old flooring and make sure the room is level. After cleaning and removing debris, lay out a 15-pound asphalt felt on the subfloor. You will need to overlap seams by 3 inches. Staple it to the floor. This will be where you will lay out the chalk lines to for straight edges.
Any flooring that you receive will need to be bought into the room and allowed to sit for a few days. This will allow the product to acclimate itself to the humidity in the room. Wood has a way of expanding and contracting in accordance with humidity levels.
The first three rows will be nailed in manually, but after that you can take advantage of modern technology by using a flooring nailer. These you can rent at any home improvement store and return once the job is done. You will also need a rubber mallet to strike the plunger and drive the nails through the groove into the floor below.
Continue laying out your flooring, perpendicular to the floor joists, leaving ½ inch space around the perimeter of the room for further wood expansion or contraction. Stagger the boards so that they the end joint on each subsequent board is at least 6 inches away from the next board. The space around the perimeter of the room will be covered with the addition of base shoe or baseboard molding. In the event that you have a transition from one room to another, you may need to add a transition strip between the two floors to make them level.
While laying wooden floors is simpler now than ever before, it still requires some experience cutting the baseboards and planks. Many do it yourselfers are already familiar with using a radial arm saw or a power miter saw. If you are not, you will want to practice first before attempting to use these cutting tools with your floorboards.
There is a bit of skill and persistence to putting down a wood floor that you can be proud to say you did yourself. If you follow the guidelines given by the manufacturer, odds are you can do a good job. Try to avoid getting the floors wet while you are working and afterwards too. Moisture is something that can easily damage a wood floor. Make sure that buy more planks than you need so that you don’t run out and have trouble getting more. When you are done, you will still need to maintain the wood floor to keep it in top shape for years to come.
Say Goodbye to Outside Noises
If home is a little slice of heaven, then it shouldn’t be too unreasonable to demand a little peace and quiet. Unfortunately it isn’t always easy to obtain – especially if there are rock music loving teenagers in the home. At certain times, these sounds can be inviting – for they serve as the ambience of a home bustling with life. At other times these sounds are nothing more than disturbing and it seems as though we can’t even hear our own thoughts. What can we do short of packing up and moving to the moon (or declaring a new ‘no music’ rule in our homes)?
One of the things you can do is install an acoustical ceiling. Acoustical ceilings are designed to absorb sound. Let’s learn a little bit about how sound travels in the home before we investigate how a contractor can minimize it and create that little slice of heaven.
How Sounds Travel Throughout the House
Sounds inside the home travel through the air and when their waves hit a surface, like a wall or a ceiling, they not only echo, they vibrate that wall or ceiling. That’s why when your teenager pumps up the volume of his stereo, it feels as though the entire house is about to shake apart. If the volume is loud enough, these sound waves will penetrate your walls and that includes your ceilings too.
Although your music-thumping teenager may enjoy it, the reverberation going on in his room is unbelievable. The objects in his room (such as his bed, desk, carpeting, or rugs) will absorb as much of these sound waves as they can, but unless you have acoustical ceilings in your home, you’re going to be assaulted by these sound waves every time he cranks up the radio.
How Acoustical Ceilings Deal With Sound Waves
Acoustical ceilings employ the use of perforated ceiling tile and you’ve probably seen this kind of tile in large buildings. The holes in this tile trap a lot of the sound waves in the air and they prevent them from reverberating (bouncing onto other surfaces and creating an echo).
In the past, we believed that perforated ceiling tile was all that we needed, but now contractors know that acoustical ceilings work much better when they’re made permeable.
< To Impervious Ceiling Acoustical Your Make Can Contractor>
Your contractor can minimize your exposure to those pesky sound waves in one of two ways:
(1) By installing sound-deadening insulation (like gypsum for example) behind your ceiling’s tile, or
(2) By reducing the mount of air between the ceiling and the floor that it’s under with insulation like building felt.
Insulating a ceiling with building felt (and lots of it) not only helps to reduce sound waves from entering a room; it also helps to prevent them from leaving a room. Preventing sound waves from leaving a room sounds like a perfect home improvement treatment for the teenage section of the house alone!
Sports Car Insurance Rates
Sports car insurance rates can vary based on several factors. Some companies who have taken the direct approach to the customers instead of reaching them through agents are able to offer lower rates. Some companies have taken sports car insurance as a special area, and such companies are able to offer specialist premiums for a considerable cheaper policy.
The driver’s age as well as driving experience plays an important role in finding a cheaper sports car policy premium. The policies considerably reduce as the age increases over than 25 years old. Most standard insurance policies start to drop the price once the customer reaches the age of 30 because of the common notion that age slows down reckless driving and so the car would be less prone to accidents. In addition, driving history in driving sports cars will also contribute to a lower insurance premium.
A high performance car insurance policy provides the correct level of insurance at an affordable premium, allowing the car to be used without bothering about high premiums. These policies more expensive than other car insurance coverage. Since sports vehicles are mostly preferred by the younger generation, there are more chances for accidents. The companies have taken up a vote to provide lower premiums to car owners older than 25 and preferably older than 30 years of age. A safely garaged car can attain significantly lower insurance premiums.
Though the insurance policy provides sports cars with enough protection, the insurance does not cover the car in case of modifications on the body of the car. The insurance would need to be increased in such instances. Also, cars that are used in the city will have higher insurance premiums because of more chances of high-risk accidents compared to the cars that would be used in the rural areas or out of the city limits.

There are many things to consider when you are planning your custom kitchen design. Among them are the areas of the kitchen to be used for storage. These areas include the pantry, cabinets, drawers, shelving, and pot racks and rails.
Kitchen Countertop Materials
Other areas to look at include kitchen countertop materials. Should you use marble or granite? These are the most expensive materials for kitchen countertops, although it is the most attractive. Other countertop materials are Corian, which is more affordable than marble and granite, and has a seamless design that look clean. Stock laminates make up the most affordable kitchen countertop material, although it is not seamless and the seams can catch dirt. Ceramic tile is best if it is used on the walls between the countertops and cabinets – the backsplash area. This is a better place for the use of ceramic tile because it will not get as dirty, particularly the grout area.
Kitchen Lighting Design

These include pendant lighting, track lighting and recessed lighting as well as ceiling elements with dimming controls that can be arranged.
Task lighting is available in many different shapes and colors and they have a lot of flexibility. You can place separate lighting over the stove, sink, island and other work surfaces
Under the cabinet lighting should be considered in the kitchen as well. Use them to illuminate countertops.
House Renovation Using a Builder
When you flip a house, much of your success depends on how you remodel the house. If you find a house perfect for flipping but the foundation is crumbling, you will have quite a bit of trouble fixing that because, well, you can’t. Basically, when searching for the perfect profitable house, you look for the one with the most superficial problems. Houses like these are priced lower because of problems that can easily be fixed. Unfortunately, you might not have all the skills needed to remodel a kitchen or a bathroom. Bringing in a construction company can help you remodel a house in much less time and for only a little bit more than if you did it yourself.
So, if you find a house in a good neighborhood, with improvements increasing the land value or a home that has just been foreclosed, but it has a huge hole in a wall that you can’t fix, you can use a builder. If you need to upgrade the electricity in the house or fix some plumbing, you need to call a builder if you are not a specialist yourself. Many people flip homes as a way to earn a few extra dollars so they find that learning everything in the construction business would take too much time, that’s where other builders come in.
Finding a good construction company is not very hard to find. Make sure you do your homework. The construction companies vary from state to state and city to city so tips on finding the perfect company would be hard to come by. One tip recommended is that anybody you hire must be licensed. Hiring someone without a license can be hazardous to your business.
Hiring a “one man company” is also a good idea. Chances are these guys really need your business so you could persuade them to lower their prices to accommodate you as long as you promise them more work in the future.
Builders are a great way to increase the productivity and profitability of your business. Make sure you find qualified personnel and you are going to succeed.
What is the lemon law?
A lemon law is a statute that obliges the manufacturer of the new vehicle that has a non-conformity (a persistent condition or fault that can cause the decrease in its value, use or safety) to provide a refund or a new replacement. Each state has its own lemon law and lemon laws in America can vary.
The father of lemon law statutes is the Magnuson-Moss Act. Enacted in 1975, it has become a landmark publication. It was aimed at promoting consumer rights to protect buyers against acquiring continually defective vehicles. It is an effective tool to counter deceptive warranty practices. It is applicable to goods with a price tag of over $25 bought after 4 July 1975 (the date the legislation came into force) with a major emphasis on automobiles.
The Act is centered on the express warranty that the manufacturer supplies the customer with. It facilitates bringing in warranty suits as it envisages the award of the attorney’s fees. What is an express warrant? It is an oral or written confirmation by the manufacturer to remedy any defects or replace the vehicle if he fails to meet the specifications set forth within a stated period time, which is often referred to as a warranty period.
The Magnuson-Moss Act is to be applied to express written warranties. It can be useful if the manufacturer refuses to repair, refund or otherwise remedy the vehicle. Then the customer is to take the case to the arbitration court and to prove:
* the warranty is in place * it has been breached * the vehicle has developed a defect, * which was caused by the breach of warranty
The Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act served as a basis for state lemon laws. The definitions of an express warranty and period differ from state to state too. Generally, the mileage under warranty makes 12,000-18,000 miles, while the warranty period ranges from 12 to 24 months.
Apart from the above-mentioned laws, there is the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which grants the customer the right for a refund or replacement of the vehicle that the manufacturer claimed to be defect-free. The UCC and Magnuson-Moss Act function in concert.
As for the “who’s going to cover attorney’s fees” question, about half of the states give you a chance to reimburse the attorney costs. If you bring in a suit under the Magnuson-Moss Act, in most states the manufacturer will repay you the attorney costs if you win the case. In some states, you will have to pay the manufacturer attorney’s fees, if you lose it.
As for the used and leased cars, it again depends on the state. Some includes these vehicles into the law, other have separate laws for them.
To prove that you have a lemon maker, you have to present the documentation, which clearly shows that you have taken your car to the repairs for “a reasonable amount of times” and it hasn’t been fixed. There should be dates, names of the dealer/manufacturer, a kind of defect and the entries made for the same defect should be identical. It can be a real fuss, and time and effort consumed to take an action to court. So try finding out as much about the vehicle you are going to buy as possible before you tear off a check.
Reverse Mortgage Lenders
You’ve made the decision that you need some extra assistance in meeting your monthly financial obligations. One of the best options for those over sixty-two years of age who own their own home is a reverse mortgage. Instead of you paying the bank each month, the bank will actually pay you. The loan can be taken out as a lump sum, a fixed monthly payment or as a line of credit. You do not have to pay back the loan until you sell your home or move out permanently. There are many reverse mortgage lenders such as banks and credit unions that you can contact to obtain details about these loans. Rates may vary so you will want to check around with various banks before deciding. There are several types of reverse mortgage loans and they include the following:
Home Equity Conversion Mortgage – HECMs are the oldest types of reverse mortgage loans and the most popular. They are insured by the federal government through the Federal Housing Administration, which is part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The amount of money you can take out as a reverse mortgage loan depends upon your age, the appraised value of your home, current interest rates and the location of your home. The older you are and the higher the equity (what it would sell for less what you still owe), the higher the loan amount can be. For 2006, the loan limit for a home in a rural area is $200,160 while the limit for high cost areas is $362,790.
Another reverse home mortgage product that you can obtain from a lender is the Fannie Mae Home Keeper. Fannie Mae is the largest investor of home mortgages in the country and a major investor in reverse mortgages. Fannie Mae developed its own reverse mortgage product as an alternative to the HECM to address the needs of customers who had a higher property value on their home. Home Keeper loans can be larger than HECMs because their mortgage limit is higher. Another Fannie Mae reverse mortgage product is the Home Keeper for Home Purchase program. This is for seniors who wish to use the reverse mortgage loan to buy a new home. For example, let’s say someone sold his home for a $60,000 profit and wants to buy a new house for $100,000. He could get a reverse mortgage using money from a Home Keeper loan so he would not have to use his savings to purchase the more expensive home.
The opportunities are endless for borrowing against the equity in your home from reverse mortgage lenders you can depend upon.

Setting Goals: Your only recipe for success
Goals are like signposts. As long as you can see these signposts, then you know you are heading in the right direction. When you set goals, you eliminate the possibility veering off the track and derailing into failure. When a train veers of the rails, the entire locomotive is derailed. Looking at the rails, one does not see anything special in them; just a solid mass of steel. But that simple mass of steel ensures that the train remains on course and that everyone on board reaches their destination safely and on time.
Goals are like rails. Without them, our claim to success will never find expression in reality. Just as a train must stay on the rails to complete the journey, our dreams, our ambitions, and our desires must find expression in goals that are clear, realistic and timely.
When we have well articulated and clearly defined goals, the journey towards success becomes lighter, even less tiring. This is because goals help us to (i) stay focused (ii) be realistic in our expectations (iii) gauge our progress (iv) avoid being overwhelmed (v) re-evaluate and redefine our strategy to ensure conformity and consistency with our objectives.
Stay focused John Maxwell says “obstacles are the things you see when you take your eyes off the goal”. How true! Every time you take your eyes away from the goal at hand, you will surely wander off into troubled waters. If you get to a point in your success journey where you can’t see your goal, you are definitely headed into failure territory.
Goals constantly remind us that there are tasks that need to be done, and within a particular time frame, for us to make progress. Without goals reminding us of where we are and what we are supposed to do to get where we ought to be, we will only be working hard and achieving nothing. Hard work, as Maxwell says, “is the accumulation of easy tasks you did not do when you should have”. The easy routine tasks that we sometimes ignore feeds into our success. Failure to perform these tasks will translate into failure.
Goals must be realistic Goals must be firmly established upon unflinching reality. If you want to go to New York and you only have ten dollars, it would be foolhardy to start packing for your journey. The reality is that boarding a plane to New York from Nairobi costs more than 10 dollars! But you say, “I have faith in God”? Well, faith is not foolish, neither is it an emotion. No amount of goose bumps or frenzied hysteria will take you to New York on ten dollars. Be real or you will miss the deal.
Goals are yardsticks Like yardsticks, goals help us gauge or measure our progress, or lack of it. Without goals constantly reminding us where we are and what we should be doing to get where we ought to be, we will be running wild. No amount of sticking our head deep into the sand will help us achieve success. We must stick it out to the end by daily attaining the goals we have set for ourselves. This can only be done if today’s tasks are ‘done’ today!
Hiring a Contractor for Your Bathroom Remodel
The process of hiring a professional contractor to tackle your bathroom renovations can make your head spin pretty quick.
First, there are many bath renovation companies out there. Look under ‘General Contractors’ or ‘Bathroom Remodeling’ in the phone book and you will see what we mean…there are hundreds of bathroom remodelers and general contractors in each area. On top of that, there are hundreds of other great contractors that remodel bathrooms but are not in the phone book.
Second, it is pretty easy to go around calling yourself a professional bathroom remodeling pro. People don’t necessarily need an office or a lot of fancy equipment or tools to start a business. Therefore, individuals that have done some repairs on a few houses or rooms can try to trick you into believing they are a highly skilled and experienced bathroom remodeling professional. If they have a truck, a tool belt, and a business card they could fool a lot of people!
Finally, there are many different types of contractors that remodel bathrooms. There are handymen, general contractors, builders, construction companies, and companies that specialize in only bathroom renovations.
So what do you do when looking for a contractor to remodel your bathroom?
We recommend:
• Asking your friends and neighbors to see if they have had good or bad experiences with local contractors. Simply knowing that another person has had a good experience with a contractor prior to calling them lessens your chance of hiring a problem.
• Call 3 or 4 companies to bid on your remodeling project. This will help you determine fair market price for your job. This does not mean you should always go with the lowest price. You should go with the company you feel most comfortable with and who you feel will do the best job. If an individual is offering a real low price you should ask yourself, “why?”.
• Decide exactly what you want to do to remodel your bathroom. At a minimum you should have a few general ideas before calling a contractor. They can help you make some final decisions, but you need to be able to explain your basic needs before letting them talk you into things.
• Try to decide if your work can be accomplished by a handyman, or if it is more involved. If you are simply laying some tile, painting, and changing some fixtures you should feel confident that a quality handyman could handle this work. If you are talking about tearing things up and changing the entire bathroom around, then your best chance of success is by hiring an experienced general contractor.
• Make sure the company has insurance. There is a chance for injury and for destruction of your house when remodeling a bathroom. As mentioned above there are many fly-by-night contractors that may not be insured. Ask them for their insurance company’s phone number and call them to prove they are insured. If you skip this part you could be held liable for an uninsured worker’s injury while working on your house. You could also be left with the bill for tons of repairs if an uninsured contractor leaves you with a destroyed bathroom or house!
• Ask if the bath remodel contractor will be able to handle all of the work you require themselves, or if they will have to sub some of the work out to other companies (such as a plumber). If they are subbing jobs out, make sure that their contract states that they are still directly responsible for all work. In other words, you will not have a situation where a plumber installed your new toilet incorrectly and the contractor is telling you that it is not his problem. What happens if you can’t get in touch with the plumber they hired after the job is complete? You want one person to be held responsible.
• If your bathroom remodel requires a general contractor, or you simply decide to hire a company that states that they are general contractors, make sure they have a valid General Contractors License
• Always get a statement of work performed in writing. Keep this filed away. Make sure the statements clearly state what work is to be performed.
• Ask if the bathroom remodeling comes with guarantees. These are factors to weigh when looking at the total cost estimates left by different contractors.
• Some contractors require an upfront payment. Agree to a payment schedule (which is a written document that clearly states how much and when payments are due). Make sure your payment schedule is discussed and documented on your contract prior to beginning work. Stick to this schedule even if the contractor asks for early payment. You do not want to get into a situation where you have paid for the majority of the bathroom remodeling work, but the majority of the remodeling in your bathroom is not completed!!…these situations often end in unfinished or poorly finished jobs.
• Check in on your bathroom remodeling progress regularly- try to catch potential problems or misunderstandings before it is too late.
Good luck with your bathroom and remodeling needs!
Ideal Floor Plans for Garage
Many homeowners who live in mild weather areas are habituated with parking heir cars on the streets or the driveway itself. They do not feel the need of building garages. If they do have garages in their property, they end up using these as repositories for their scrap items. However, in case they want to turn a new leaf and decide to become organized, they might as well look into garage floor plans and construct garages that serve multiple purposes apart from storage. It is always a better option to totally re-build a decrepit garage than to try to fix the existing one.
A number of garage floor plans are available in the market. Some provide the option of turning the garage into a workshop or an extra living space. The walls and other hitherto unutilized storage space can be used for storing various tools and implements. One can install some weight-training and other exercise equipment and use it as a home-gym. This will enable the pursuance of a healthy lifestyle from the comfort of the home itself. The concrete floor can be refurbished with rubber floorings or epoxy coatings to make the floor feel easier on the feet. The amount of dirt that tracks into the house will also be reduced. Factors like insulation can also be taken into account by building double walls into the garage floor plan and pack these with thermal materials. This will keep the interiors of the garage warm and cosy.
The floor plan should be based on the purpose for which the garage is to be used whether it is just sheltering the car, or to erect a workshop. The size of the garage also needs to be considered. The cost of building will depend on the size and the finish. Garage floor plans can be designed with some help from the different software that are available in the market, like the Plan3D. Various architects and manufacturers offer their floor plans on online websites. Garage floor plans that are drawn up by experts can convert the thus far overlooked garage area into a pleasant addition to the house.
Installing Stain Glass Windows Is Easy
When creating a stain glass window the design may begin as a drawing, a painting, a photograph or any other kind of graphic artwork. The design needs to be simple and bold. Once you are happy with the design you can start work on the stain glass window. Nothing is better or creates character like a stained glass window, it is elegant and it adds sophistication to your home, the light that is produced is soft and is diffused into your home and creates a soothing atmosphere.
It’s a good idea to make two copies of the pattern so that you can use one copy to cut the templates and the other copy to place on the work piece to see how it fits. You can cut some costs if someone can donate their old cutters to you, but even if you need to go out and purchase some stained glass cutters they are usually a pretty reasonable price.
Creating stain glass there are many techniques that can be used. When creating the classic stained glass window, there are many pieces of color glasses, you will need to cut each piece so they fit together, then you will need to take lead, brass or copper and use it as a buffer between the glass.
Rub the lead lines and get them well coated with the chemical on the cotton. Take an old rag and polish the lead lines very vigorously. To create an illusion of a lead line you need to do it on both sides of the glass.
Sometimes, a piece of stained glass will lose its original brightness and color that the lead lines once had. The blackness or copper of the patina will dull and you find that over time there will be a buildup of some type of corrosion and it usually appears around the edges of the lead. Most manufactures use lead as the bonding material because it is flexible to use and it last for a very long time.
Lead is used and stripped into predetermined shapes so that they can be fitted between then the pieces of glass.
As you get some experience under your belt you can acquire more tools and accessories as deemed necessary by you- the master craftsman. If you do your homework earlier on before diving in with both feet, you will find that some of the tools you use will continue to be used by you for many, many years to come. These tools help assist an individual in marking, cutting, smoothing, and soldering the glass. To make stained glass, you will first need to get the tools and materials ready.
Some people use stain glass making as a hobby and other times the hobby becomes a business. Stain glass windows are becoming very popular again and many people want these colorful windows in their home to brighten and bring good cheer. Many people bring the stain glass windows into their homes by purchasing lamp shades that are stained glass. One of the most popular stained glass lamps is tiffany.
