How To Avoid Spam Robots

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Despite the fact that Federal legislation (the CANSPAM act) made it illegal, harvesting email addresses from the web using automated robots remains alive and well.

Spammers who need fresh email addresses release software spider programs that comb the Internet and suck email addresses off Web pages, guest books, and anywhere else you might post your email address.

Once they get your email address, spammers will trade it around like 5th graders with a new pack of Pokemon cards at recess and you can expect the avalanche of email to begin flooding your inbox.

In order to combat this still rampant practice of stealing email addresses from websites and sending people email they don’t want, the following tips should help protect you.

** Break It Up **

Obviously the best way to avoid getting picked up by an email harvester is not to post your email anywhere on anyone’s website (including your own).

If the only way someone can get your email is if you give it to them, that creates a similar situation to operating with an unlisted phone number.

If telemarketers can’t get your phone number, they can’t call.

If you must post your email address, post it in a way that a robot won’t recognize it as an email address. Instead of posting YOURNAME@YOURDOMAIN.COM, you can put YOURNAME (AT) YOURDOMAIN.COM and then, in parenthesis, put (replace AT with @ to email me).

Though it seems like an extra step for legitimate email, you’ll find it a very effective technique.

** Use An Image **

Currently, online spiders (ANY spider, including search engines) cannot read text that appears in a graphic or picture. If you must display an email address on a page, then do it by typing your email address into your favorite graphics program and saving the image as a .gif or .jpg. Then post the image onto your web page so people can see the email, but spiders cannot. This too creates an extra step for people because they must type in your email address, but it’s an effective solution if you must display an email address on your own website.

** Use An Email Form **

Another way to cut down on spam originating from your own website is simply not to display an email at all.

Instead, allow customers and prospects to contact you through a form where they fill in fields, click a button, and your website emails you their message.

A note of caution: make sure the form script you use does not keep your email address visible in the form code.

If the form code contains the email address, spam robots can find it even though you don’t see it on the page.

** Make It Hard To Guess **

Sometimes you’ll get unsolicited email because a spammer guessed your email address.

It’s not a far stretch to imagine that someone probably has the email Jim@yourdomain.com, so spammers will do a “dictionary” attack on common usernames.

One way to defeat this is to place a “dot” (.) in your email address, such as Jim.Edwards@yourdomain.com. The dot makes it virtually impossible for spammers to guess your email address.

When catastrophe strikes, many insurance companies tend to get flooded with new claims. These sudden surges in client demands can be overwhelming, and that’s where Pacesetter Claims Service, an independent adjusting agency, comes in.

Founded in 1997, Pacesetter Claims Service is a well-established company with offices in five different states, as well as Puerto Rico. They are dedicated to providing the extra support companies such as American Family Mutual Insurance and Farmers Insurance Group need in the aftermath of a catastrophic event.

Having multiple offices spread across the country, and no way of predicting where or when the next disaster will strike, immediate, effective communication, such as email, is vital for Pacesetter’s success. With the company dealing with upwards of 100 to 150 emails per day that are not only valid, but also possibly contain critical information from multiple sources, filtering out the junk email becomes essential.

According to Pacesetter IT Coordinator David Borg, more than 80% of their incoming email was a bombardment of spam. Pacesetter couldn’t afford to have their employees wasting time sorting through these unwanted emails. They also didn’t want to risk the possibility of inadvertently filtering out legitimate messages. They needed a highly effective, highly accurate anti-spam software solution to their spam problem.

Solution

Choosing Securence was an easy decision for Pacesetter Claims Service. Securence offered everything Pacesetter was looking for: accuracy, ease of use, great customer service and cost effectiveness. “The reps stayed in touch real closely in the beginning to make sure things went smoothly,” says Borg, who also likes the option that Securence is a service as opposed to just an application he has to install and maintain himself.

Perhaps most importantly, Borg is impressed with the accuracy of Securence’s email filtering software. “During our 30-day trial period,” says Borg, “we didn’t have any false positives, and the few junk e-mails that did slip through were because we couldn’t completely secure things on our end. We’re extremely satisfied.”

By selecting Securence, Pacesetter Claims Service was able to reduce their incoming junk email by more than 80% with nearly perfect accuracy.

Securence offers anti-spam software, antivirus software and internet filtering software for business and consumers.

Its 2005—-Bulk Email is Dead

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

A typical day at the inbox

Today, I received 374 emails total.

A pretty light day considering some days I get more than 1,000.

To clarify what they were35 were for business, 4 were personal in nature, 11 were from groups I asked to get information from like Neiman Marcus and Urban Outfitters, VH1, and a PR Newsletter.

The balance of 324 was unsolicited (UCEunsolicited commercial email)in other words spam.

If I extrapolate the UCE I’ve gotten in the last six hours alone, I find I must be missing something about myself on some spiritual level..

I am a balding, fat man with a small penis that doesn’t work. I am in debt.

I am looking for a lower interest rate on my mortgage while at the same time making thousands of dollars with no effort on my part in the privacy of my own home—filling out surveys, stuffing envelopes and not selling something that miraculously sells itself.

Even better, I can be a travel agent without wrinkles obtain a college degree while waiting for my 1500 advance to show up in my bank account I can restore my credit rating legally while watching my free satellite TV and munching on my drugs sent courtesy of an offshore pharmacy that has a doctor who will write me a prescription… HMMM…definitely something to consider. NOT.

I’ve also discovered that I am a prime candidate to help an African Prince transfer funds into the US. He trusts me. All I have to do is give him my bank account information.

The problem is that I am a woman who doesn’t suffer those ills.
Someone thinks I do…There is something wrong with this picture.

The future of bulk email and why it is likely to remain dead

Now, you might be asking why I, who was dubbed the “Spam Queen”
in the “Wall Street Journal” three years ago, am even bothering to say anything about email?

Just to set the record straight, I have never advocated spam or sending spam.

One reporter said to me, “Some people consider all bulk email as spam. What do you have to say about that?” to which I replied, “Then I guess you’d call me the spam queen,” as a joke.

In our sound byte media world, one editor turned this little quip into a buzzword and I became known almost instantly, all over the world, as representing what everyone, including myself, hates about email.

The media as usual emphasized sensationalism and missed the point.

I am not complaining because my marketing business skyrocketed as a result.

At that time I advocated email as a very effective medium for small business, which because of its low cost lets small businesses level the playing field against big corporations.

At no small personal risk, I visited the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC, and spoke my peace about small businesses and not throwing out the baby with the bathwater before even the very term spam could be legally agreed upon and defined to the satisfaction of marketers, ISPs and the government jointly.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of the US economy, and entrepreneurs with their dreams are what have made the US the economic powerhouse it still is today.

Email that is sent to people who WANT to receive it, and that is in accordance with their preferences, still gets a high response. It allows many small businesses to get ahead. I didn’t want to see big corporations or the government take over email and bar entry, filter, and extort everyone else while still sending their own advertising messages freely.

And then came the CanSpam act, which I and many other legitimate marketers welcomed, because it had a great promise of getting rid of the noise while keeping the signal.

As it turned out, the opposite happened. Email filters from ISP’s now block a large amount of legitimate messages, which they call “false positives”.

Marketers can’t send the text they would like to send to their subscribers, so they have to resort to filter tricking tactics such as spelling the word spam as sp@@@M so that they can get past the filters that were intended for another purpose entirely.

In a climate like this, legitimate companies that had been diligently following best practices, and keeping their lists clean for years, suddenly did not want to stay in business with ambiguities in the law and the potential litigation that might ensue even if all the rules WERE followed, so many companies just folded.

However the people that continue to send email illegally did not fold.

Often times sending from outside the US borders, they stepped up their operations even more, to the point that there is almost no truly legitimate bulk email left.

In other words, the signal has become lost in the noise.

The simplicity is this — bulk commercial email has gotten to the point where it isn’t effective. We just don’t do it anymore. What’s the point? It doesn’t get a response, and we found people are overloaded with advertising messages and no longer willing to receive more, especially in their inbox, unless they specifically asked for it.

As a marketing professional, the only thing that should count for you at the end of the day is effectiveness. Bulk commercial email has turned into the above, a bunch of unprofessional, ineffective scams.

In other words, Spam is a fourletter word.

Legitimate marketers are staying away in droves and it’s easy to see why. First of all let’s look at some facts. In the United States, it is legal to send unsolicited commercial email. The CAN SPAM act allows for this. You have to provide a way to optout and not hide who you are, and a few more simple but ethical rules.

Although it is legal, there isn’t an internet service provider in the United States who will allow you to send unsolicited commercial email.

Larger mailers have optin information from lists they purchase which imply consent but those lists aren’t originated from the mailer, but from other submailers—you get a free thing or access to a particular site and the user checks a box that it is okay to get information from their “affiliates and partners.”

The “affiliates and partners” they are referring to are those who pay for the email addresses and optin information.

These guys are sending you mail legally, but the fact is, they are not getting into your email box for the most part. Blocking, filtering, and doing it the “legal” way bulk wise, is just not working.

Not to mention, there is no way to prove that the recipients opted in or are willing to get the message since they opted in at someone else’s site, not yours.

The response rate is pathetic and when that mail does get through, you have many disgruntled individuals who never remember opting in, so in their view, the mail is unsolicited. The only way to get email into inboxes en masse is by not following the rules, so the only messages getting through are the scams, including the pornographic, illegal, and objectionable.

It is ironic that the very thing people want to rail against, they are getting more of in the aftermath of CanSpam.

So where does that leave us?

What can a small businessperson do to get their message out, and not break their bank?

How to market effectively in the new internet wave

If you are a small businessperson, there are 3 alternatives that you should consider, which are described in this next section:

What is effective you might ask? (Ask away, it’s kind of the point here..)

1) First party offers that impart some value added (a tip some information, something the consumer is interested in.)

Lets say John Q. Consumer gave his email address for a newsletter, or for more information on a particular subject, or to play a game.

Chances are he probably would not be angered to get an email from your company especially since he asked for you to contact him. He would recognize your domain name since he spent enough time on your site to actually ask the info.

Additionally, your internet service provider would not shut you down for violations and you’d start to build a small but effective list of people who are actually interested in what you, as a business owner, have to say.

This has been effective since the beginning of the internet. The only problem is, how do you reach people the first time, to get them to your site?

How do you find a target market for your products that is likely to be interested in what you have to offer and sign up for your newsletter, visit your site, and hopefully buy your stuff?

Is there anything less costly than television, radio, and (ugh!) banner ads?

Yes there is. Drum roll please…..Search Engine Marketing. If you write good ads, and compete with the right keywords, people who are already searching for an answer to a question, doing research, comparison shopping will go to a search engine and type in their parameters.

If you know how to market well, only people who are interested will go to your site.

If you have a web site that is compelling and you are offering a value added, they will ask for more information or sign up for your newsletter, or get your free download.

Now, getting to this point can sometimes take a little time, but if you are persistent, and know how to interpret your statistics, you can do this. If you want the result without the learning curve, hire a Search Engine Marketing Firm.

So the new tools for small businesspeople to stampede traffic to their websites in 2005 and beyond are going to be:

1) Search Engine Marketing

2) Publicity, including press releases that provide meaningful news

3) Providing quality content and expert commentary for radio, TV, and internet hubs in your field

You can be successful on the internet and these tools help to establish you as an expert in your field, as well as attract the very people who are looking for your product or service at the same time.

These are the tools of a new form of marketing, which people are calling “In Touch” Marketing, or “intelligent marketing” and is one way to cut through and actually get you the most possible business, at the lowest possible cost, with laser precise targeting. In future articles I will teach you how to use them with deadly precision.

This is the new way for small businesses and entrepreneurs to succeed in 2005 and beyond.

Remember, you heard it here first :)

What Exactly is Spam?

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Spam, as defined in the context of computers, the Internet and electronic messaging, is a term used to designate unsolicited bulk electronic messaging and communication. In particular, spam is unsolicited bulk mailings that are commercially oriented. It is most commonly used in advertising, but it is also used to perpetrate religious, political or other types of messages. Spam is, often times, considered the electronic equivalent of junk postal mail, telemarketing or broadcast faxing. Spam got its bad name and reputation from the advertisement of ill reputable and questionable products, such as pornography, pyramid schemes, fad products, pump-and-dump stocks, etc.

Spam is delivered via several mediums, to include:

· E-mail messages

· Search engines

· Instant messaging

· Web blogs

· Usenet newsgroups

· Text messaging mobile phones

· Internet telephony

The growth of spam is a result of the cost benefit to initiators, who need only devise and develop distribution lists. The other associated costs of spam, such as bandwidth, message management and loss of productivity, become the responsibility of recipients of the messages, ISPs or other public and private entities.

In 2003, the US passed the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing (CAN-SPAM) Act of 2003, which establishes standards for sending commercial e-mail. More specifically, the act is intended “to regulate interstate commerce by imposing limitations and penalties on the transmission of unsolicited, commercial electronic mail via the Internet”. The act establishes the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as the overseer of its provisions.

The act establishes electronic mail as extremely important in communication since it “provides an opportunity for the development and growth of frictionless commerce”, which is being threatened by unsolicited commercial email. The act establishes the following as criminal behaviors when used in connection with foreign or interstate electronic mail:

· Knowingly accessing a protected computer without authorization

· Intentionally deceiving or misleading the origin of messages

· Falsifying header information

· Falsifying registration information for 5 or more e-mail accounts or 2 or more domain names

· Falsely representing one’s self as the registrant of 5 or more IP addresses

· Obtaining e-mail addresses through improper means

· Perpetrating fraud, identity theft, child pornography, obscenity and the sexual exploitation of children.

Criminal penalties include a fine and/or imprisonment for up to 5 years dependent upon:

· The volume of electronic transmissions

· The amount of falsified information

· Losses incurred by others

· Monetary gains from the act

· Whether the act was committed in furtherance of an felony

· Prior offenses.

Civil penalties are dependent upon the jurisdiction placing the charges and may range from hundreds of dollars to millions of dollars, dependent upon the severity of the crimes and losses involved. Also, property traceable to proceeds from monetary gains and equipment used to commit an offense may be forfeited to the US government.

As critics of the law argue, the legislation fails to dictate to marketers and advertisers, not to spam. In fact, the act does not make reference to the term, “spam”, except as used in the name, CAN-SPAM. The act makes reference to the phrase, commercial electronic mail message, and defines it to be “any electronic mail message, the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service (including content on an Internet website operated for a commercial purpose)”.

Legislation is intended to curb practices inherent in spamming, such as e-mail harvesting, dictionary attacks and using viruses and Trojans to perpetrate messages. The act establishes the following with respect to commercial electronic mail messages:

· A message must contain a legitimate return address.

· A message must include and specify a method to opt-out of receiving further messages. The ability to opt-out must be available for 30 days.

· The sender may not initiate messages after 10 days of receipt of an opt-out.

· The sender may not sell, lease, exchange or transfer the opt-out e-mail address to an affiliate.

· The sender may offer a menu of options that allow the recipient to either opt-out or opt-in to future messages*.

· A message must include an identifier that specifies the message as an advertisement or solicitation.

· Messages containing sexually oriented material must contain clearly identifiable markings or notices

· A message must include a valid, physical, postal address by which the sender may be contacted.

· The sender may not send messages to addresses that were knowingly acquired from proprietary websites and ISPs, through automated methods. Particularly, when the site or ISP provides notice of their refusal to give, sell or transfer addresses for the purpose of initiating electronic mail messages.

· The sender may not create automated scripting and other means to gain multiple email addresses for the purpose of transmitting illegal messages.

· The sender may not transmit messages from a computer or email address obtained without authorization.

*Unlike opt-out advertising, which allows the recipients of advertisement to discontinue any unwanted advertisements from the sender, opt-in advertising allows the advertiser to request to have specific advertisement sent. The recipient may allow or deny permission to have further advertisement sent. If allowed, the advertiser immediately includes that e-mail address to its distribution list. Another option is, double opt-in advertising, which is similar to opt-in advertising except that once the recipient grants permission to send advertisements, a confirmation request is sent to the recipient to verify that they did, indeed, allow the permission. The e-mail address is added to the distribution list only after the recipient has positively responded to the confirmation request.

CAN-SPAM is not intended to provide cause for the general public to sue spammers, individually or in class action suits. It is designed to allow enforcement by the FTC and other federal agencies for the benefit of the general public. Individuals remain privy to the state laws and regulations of their particular jurisdictions.

Customers Demand Internet Privacy

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

… and you’d better sit up and take notice! Customers concern over Internet privacy issues is on the rise, and for good reasons.

Because of SPAM and phishing e-mails, identity theft and viruses, it’s completely understandable that customers have a hightened concern about their Internet privacy. And it’s not only about e-mail adresses and credit card numbers either. More and more companies are collecting vast amounts of data on their customers surfing and buying habits, which could give fascinating insights!

We’ll see that more and more customers are demanding to be informed about how companies are addressing these concerns. And every ons is scrutinized to see if they deliver on the promises made. So businesses can better comply, or prepare to be left behind.

How you can assure Internet privacy for your customers

1. Create a privacy policy and stick by it

As said, customers will want to know what your internet privacy and security policy is, so you’d better have one! It should have the following aspects in it:

  • Secure data: All data must be protected by firewalls, virus protection and any other measure you can take to establish data integrity and data security

  • Limit access: Access of data must be granted to as limited a group of employees as possible

  • Opt-in: Always ask a customer for the use of personal data, tell the goal for which you need the data, and use the data only for that specific goal

  • Double check: If you cannot be sure of the users identity (e.g. when they enter an e-mail address for a news letter) have the request confirmed

  • Permission: Never share the information with any 3rd party without the customers permission (don’t forget to check the Internet privacy policy of the 3rd party)

  • Customer access: Give customers access to their own data, and an option to change it (this does not have to be online, but is to be preferred)

  • Local data: If you use a local means of storing data (ie. on the customers PC, like cookies), explain why and how you use this information

  • Enforce: Make sure you enforce this privacy policy, if possible by becoming a member of a 3rd party privacy program, like TRUSTe or the Better Business Bureau

  • Children: This is an adult game, do not actively collect personal information from children

  • Change: Tell what you will do when you change the privacy policy

2. Make info available online

Make sure that your Internet privacy policy is prominently available on your site, preferrably from every page. Also, make all contact information (e-mail, address, phone number, etc.) available in the same fashion. You don’t want your customers to have to search for the info, do you? They might not find it, and then it’s…

Click. Bye-bye!

3. Address all concerns

Even with an Internet privacy policy prominently available on your site, customers will contact you, to double-check that they can trust your company with their personal data. This is no distrust, sometimes customers want to be reassured by a real, life person. So make sure that you can handle all those inquiries, fast and reassuring.

“You do not have to be good to start, but you do have to start to be good.”

Please burn the above quote into your brain. Post it on the inside of your eyelids. Remember it and use it.

It’s been said that content is king on the web, and it true. I like to say that on the web content is king and queen.

In other words, content is royalty on the web.

The two most powerful forms of content on the web are articles and ebooks

Both articles and ebooks are simply your expertise in print. It’s as simple as that.

Every single one of you reading this article has expertise.

In your area of expertise, what are 7 things a person can do to improve their situation? Write those down.

Now add two or three points under each of the 7 points. Perhaps a quite or example under one or two of them.

That’s an article.

Now add an example, a story, and a quote for each of the points. Then recommend a plan of action to implement each of the points.

That’s an ebook.

I know I could make it a more difficult process for you, but why? This the bottome line.

Remember, you do not have to be good to start, but you do have to start to be good.

Rating EBook Compilers

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Now that you’ve finished writing your eBook and have a
basic understanding of what an eBook compiler does,
you may be feeling overwhelmed by the number of
compilers on the market. To help you make your
decision, I have tested and reviewed the best-rated
eBook compilers currently available.

* E-ditor

This software has a demo version that you can download
to try out before purchasing. You can’t actually use
the demo to create an eBook, but you can run the
software and test it out thoroughly to see if it does
what you need it to do for your particular eBook.

This eBook compiler is one of the easiest to use. The
software has a very user-friendly help menu that
provides instructions for and explanations of every
field on every screen. The program also includes video
tutorials demonstrating every step of this compiler
with clear explanations of all fields that need to be
filled out. There are 7 screens that you use to choose
your eBook options.

This compiler requires your files to be in HTML
format. You follow simple directions, and the compiler
loads your files. If you decide to edit your eBook
after it has been compiled, make any changes in your
original files and click on “Compile you eBook” and
your changes will appear in your compiled eBook.

E-editor allows for some customization of your eBook.
You can create a special page that appears when the
eBook is opened create customized icons that appear
on the desktop after downloading use your own logo on
the task bar of your eBook customize the task bar’s
buttons, where the task bar appears in your eBook, and
choose the task bar’s colors. Additionally, you can
choose to have the eBook open to the last page read,
which many of your buyers will appreciate.

An excellent and unique feature of E-ditor is the
capability to choose a standard Microsoft window or to
create your own design for a window to personalize
your eBook. The program provides some sample window
designs, but you can use any .bmp (bit map skin)
graphic you have stored on your hard drive.

E-ditor is a good choice if you are new at producing
eBooks because it is easy to use and allows you to
customize the appearance of your eBook.

* Desktop Author

This compiler does not require a browser, nor do you
have to download software or plug-ins. The program
converts exe. files into pages that look like a
standard book. You can create and produce eBook pages
scaled to fit on your computer screen without any
scrolling. Additional features include WYSIWGY (what
you see is what you get) page editing and creation,
the ability to manipulate internal images, cut and
paste functions, hotlinks to pages, email, website, or
other files. It is an excellent compiler to use for a
marketing tools, such as creating brochures and
manuals in addition to eBooks.

* EBook Edit Pro

This compiler provides a demo version, which allows
you to test out its features. The software uses a
Wizard that leads you step-by-step through the set-up
and creation of your eBook. Customization includes
text editing that appears on the pop-up starting
message window the ability to allow or prevent
resizing of your book and the mouse-click pop-up menu
enabling or disabling the navigation bar and choosing
the buttons you want to appear and customizing the
eBook’s desktop icon and the logo that appears on the
navigation bar.

Ebook Edit Pro is loaded with excellent features that
allow you to create multi-media Ebooks, and includes a
Wizard that is customized for beginners and for
advanced users. The software uses HTML files,
downloading them from the directory where they are
saved. Edit and resave your files in the original
software used to create those files, and then with a
single click you can re-compile your Ebook.

Features include customization of icons, toolbars, and
the “about box.” This compiler has a particularly
useful feature called the Rebrander feature. This
permits you to enter customized code into your Ebook
pages and distribute the Rebrander software to your
affiliates or distributors. They can then customize
the links included in the Ebook, but they can not
alter any link or information that you have not
entered a customized code for.

The software includes “eBrand-It” software that allows
custom fields for your customer’s name, affiliate ID
or URL. This feature is a powerful marketing tool
because affiliates are much happier giving away your
Ebook from their own site when they can customize it.

* Ebook Compiler

This compiler offers a demo version that allows you to
compile 10 files. If you don’t include graphics, you
can create a 10 page Ebook that allows printing and
copying of the Ebook. The catch is that you can’t sell
any Ebook you create in the demo version.

The purchased software is user-friendly with
easy-to-follow help files that not only guide you
through the steps of compiling your Ebook, but also
explains what an Ebook compiler does. The software
provides detailed instructions on how to create source
files from Microsoft Word 2000 and 1997, PowerPoint
2000 and 1997, and HTML documents. It contains less
detailed instructions for creating source files from
other programs.

This compiler allows for password protection of your
entire Ebook or for selected pages. Additionally, you
can set a time limit on your Ebook. When the runs out,
the customer no longer has access unless they pay for
it. In other words, it allows you to create a demo
version of your Ebook for marketing purposes.

You can set a single password or multiple passwords.
Using multiple passwords assigns each user their own
specific password. Online help files guide you through
setting up your passwords. You can also create a Sales
and Thank-you page for selling a password protected
Ebook. This is a good choice for the novice,
particularly since it includes basic features for
password protection and distribution.

* Activ Ebook Compiler

This is an easy to use compiler that provides
excellent features. This software can support HTML,
JPEG, GIF, and all active plug-ins. Features includes
password protection, branding, internet linking, icon
customization, assigning unique serial numbers, splash
screen, file compression, and start-up messages. It
also provides free lifetime upgrades. Additionally, it
includes a preprocessor, re-brander, active script,
and detailed instructions for using HTML, Power Point,
and Microsoft Word files.

There are several other excellent Ebook compilers on
the market that are worth looking into.

Ebook Generator features splash screens, password
protection, branding, icon customization, and
compression control. Additionally, it includes virus
prevention that alerts the user to any modifications
made to your Ebook and offers usage statistics so you
can track your Ebook’s use. With all these advanced
features, this is an excellent compiler for the
beginner because it is exceptionally easy to run.

Ebook Creator is another excellent compiler,
supporting HTML, JPEG, GIF, and PNG graphics, and
Javascript, VB script, and Java applets. It also
supports all Internet Explorer plug-ins. Standard
features include unique serial numbers, direct linking
to a form or a page on your website, disabled right
clicking, and search functions. The software allows
for expiration after a set number of days or usages,
which allows you to create demo versions. You can
create up to 1000 different passwords every time the
Ebook is downloaded, a unique password is required to
access protected pages. The software provides
user-friendly menus and buttons that allow the

What the heck is a teleclass anyway? Teleclasses, also called teleconferences, are an innovative method for bringing information to you without you needing to leave your home or office.

Most teleclasses are promoted by people who do business online. You will find them advertised on people’s websites, in online advertising or perhaps in an email you receive. After speaking with several focus groups, I now understand that many people are unaware of exactly what a teleclass is and are concerned that there is some type of catch or hidden cost.

First of all, teleclasses are simply conference calls, ranging in size from three to thousands of participants. When you sign up for a teleclass, you typically receive an email that will give you the details for calling in. You simply dial the phone number provided at the agreed upon time for the class, enter the access code provided and you are instantly connected to the other participants who registered for the call and the teleclass leader.

You only need a telephone to participate in the calls. If you don’t have a computer to receive the confirmation email, most teleclass leaders will provide an alternative to email for you to get the necessary information, such as a telephone call.

Many people are afraid that there are hidden costs with teleclasses. Many teleclasses are free or list for a nominal cost, such as $19-$49. The only additional cost to you would be whatever your phone company charges for long distance fees. So, if your long distance cost is $.05/minute, then a 60 minute teleclass would cost you only $3.00! Many people will opt to use their cell phone to avail themselves of their free minutes so the call costs nothing!

Teleclasses gained popularity after 9/11, when many people began avoiding larger gatherings, such as seminars or workshops. Teleclasses are the perfect way to gain information without having to travel to a remote location where there are large groups of people. Also, during today’s information age when people need information quickly, teleclasses make the perfect choice.

Most teleclasses are 60-90 minutes in length and are geared toward giving information on a variety of topics. Each teleclass is generally devoted to a specific topic. An expert will disseminate information on the call and participants are generally given the opportunity to ask questions and to interact with the presenter and the other participants either throughout or at the end of the call.

Key points are highlighted but there is not the depth of information most people get from attending an in-person event. Also, there is generally not the same atmosphere or personal touch people get from attending a live, in-person seminar but the advantages are many.

For example, you don’t have to speak if you don’t want to. No one will even know you are on the call. You can maintain your anonymity. You can hang up if the call doesn’t interest you. You can multitask in the comfort of your own home or office. As long as your phone is muted, no one will know what you are doing.

You don’t have to be concerned about what to wear. You can attend a teleclass in your bath robe if you want. (This may not be so easy if you are already at the office!) Also, driving directions are never a problem. Teleclasses don’t tie up any more of your time than the actual call is scheduled for, leaving you free to continue with your active, busy life.

Teleclasses are a new, convenient alternative for people looking to gain information without investing a lot of time. Many times a teleclass is offered by people who also provide in-person workshops. The teleclass is a great way to “test drive” the speaker to determine whether or not you want to invest your time in a full-day seminar.

Why Write an EBook?

Last Updated: 2011/10/04

It’s not true that everything that has been said has
already been written. Since that unfortunate axiom
came into use, the whole universe has changed.
Technology has changed, ideas have changed, and the
mindsets of entire nations have changed.

The fact is that this is the perfect time to write an
ebook. What the publishing industry needs are people
who can tap into the world as it is today – innovative
thinkers who can make the leap into the new millennium
and figure out how to solve old problems in a new way.
Ebooks are a new and powerful tool for original
thinkers with fresh ideas to disseminate information
to the millions of people who are struggling to figure
out how to do a plethora of different things.

Let’s say you already have a brilliant idea, and the
knowledge to back it up that will enable you to write
an exceptional ebook. You may be sitting at your
computer staring at a blank screen wondering, “Why?
Why should I go through all the trouble of writing my
ebook when it’s so impossible to get anything
published these days?

Well, let me assure you that publishing an ebook is
entirely different than publishing a book in print.
Let’s look at the specifics of how the print and cyber
publishing industry differ, and the many reasons why
you should take the plunge and get your fingers
tapping across those keyboards!

Submitting a print book to conventional publishing
houses or to agents is similar to wearing a hair shirt
24/7. No matter how good your book actually is, or how
many critique services and mentor writers have told
you that “you’ve got what it takes,” your submitted
manuscript keeps coming back to you as if it is a
boomerang instead of a valuable mine of information.

Perhaps, in desperation, you’ve checked out
self-publishing and found out just how expensive a
venture it can be. Most “vanity presses” require
minimal print runs of at least 500 copies, and even
that amount will cost you thousands of dollars. Some
presses’ minimal run starts at 1,000 to 2,000 copies.
And that’s just for the printing and binding. Add in
distribution, shipping, and promotional costs and -
well, you do the math. Even if you wanted to go this
route, you may not have that kind of money to risk.

Let’s say you already have an Internet business with a
quality website and a quality product. An ebook is one
of the most powerful ways to promote your business
while educating people with the knowledge you already
possess as a business owner of a specific product or
service.

For example, let’s say that you’ve spent the last
twenty-five years growing and training bonsai trees,
and now you’re ready to share your knowledge and
experience. An ebook is the perfect way to reach the
largest audience of bonsai enthusiasts.

Ebooks will not only promote your business – they will
help you make a name for yourself and your company,
and establish you as an expert in your field. You may
even find that you have enough to say to warrant a
series of ebooks. Specific businesses are complicated
and often require the different aspects to be divided
in order for the reader to get the full story.

Perhaps your goals are more finely tuned in terms of
the ebook scene. You may want to build a whole
business around writing and publishing ebooks.
Essentially, you want to start an e-business. You are
thinking of setting up a website to promote and market
your ebooks. Maybe you’re even thinking of producing
an ezine.

One of the most prevalent reasons people read ebooks
is to find information about how to turn their
Internet businesses into a profit-making machine. And
these people are looking to the writers of ebooks to
provide them with new ideas and strategies because
writers of ebooks are usually people who understand
the new cyberspace world we now live in. Ebook writers
are experts in Internet marketing campaigns and the
strategies of promoting and distributing ebooks. The
cyberspace community needs its ebooks to be successful
so that more and more ebooks will be written.

You may want to create affiliate programs that will
also market your ebook. Affiliates can be people or
businesses worldwide that will all be working to sell
your ebooks. Think about this? Do you see a formula
for success here?

Figure out what your subject matter is, and then
narrow it down. Your goal is to aim for specificity.
Research what’s out there already, and try to find a
void that your ebook might fill.

What about an ebook about a wedding cake business? Or
an ebook about caring for elderly pets? How about the
fine points of collecting ancient pottery?

You don’t have to have three masters degrees to write
about your subject. People need advice that is easy to
read and easily understood. Parents need advice for
dealing with their teenagers. College students need to
learn good study skills – quickly. The possibilities
are endless.

After you’ve writtten your ebook

Getting your ebook out is going to be your focus once
you’ve finished writing it, just as it is with print
books. People will hesitate to buy any book from an
author they’ve never heard of. Wouldn’t you?

The answer is simple: give it away! You will see
profits in the form of promoting your own business and
getting your name out. You will find affiliates who
will ask you to place their links within your ebook,
and these affiliates will in turn go out and make your
name known. Almost every single famous ebook author
has started out this way.

Another powerful tool to attract people to your ebook
is to make it interactive. Invent something for them
to do within the book rather than just producing pages
that contain static text. Let your readers fill out
questionnaires, forms, even crossword puzzles geared
to testing their knowledge on a particular subject.
Have your readers hit a link that will allow them to
recommend your book to their friends and associates.
Or include an actual order form so at the end of their
reading journey, they can eagerly buy your product.

When people interact with books, they become a part of
the world of that book. The fact is just as true for
books in print as it is for ebooks.

That’s why ebooks are so essential. Not only do they
provide a forum for people to learn and make sense of
their own thoughts, but they can also serve to promote
your business at the same time.

P.S.

The more you know about tuberculosis, the less chances to get infected

Last Updated: 2011/10/04

Tuberculosis is a disease caused by a bacterium named Mycobacterium Tuberculosis which mostly affects the lungs but can also affect the live, lymph nodes, bones and kidneys.

Tuberculosis occurs in those who are homeless, in those who are in prison and in those who live in crowded and unsanitary conditions. Immigrants from developing countries might also be affected by this disease.

The disease spreads from human to human while breathing. If the affected person coughs or sneezes he will spread in the air droplets of saliva which contain the TB bacterium. The infection can not be taken so easily but those who live in the same place with the infected person are at risk of catching the disease.

In most of the cases if the bacteria gets into the lungs the immune system will stop it from dividing and so the bacteria will remain in an inactive state inside the lungs. Many people are in this situation and they are just fine as long as their immune system is working properly. These people have no symptoms and they can be discovered as carriers of the disease only by a special skin test.

The symptoms of TB will appear in 10% of those who have an inactive germ inside their lungs. These symptoms are common with the flu symptoms and most of the people will not even suspect tuberculosis and have a shock when they hear the diagnosis. Besides the classical symptoms of fever, night sweats and fatigue the patient might cough with blood and might loose weight in a shot while.

The skin test is not enough to declare a man ill. A chest x-ray needs to be done along with laboratory tests for sputum. Also the fact that one has been living or got in close contact with an infected person might count when diagnosing tuberculosis.

The treatment of tuberculosis lasts a long period of time, from six to nine months but it gives remarkably good results in patients. The treatment will contain a combination of two or three drugs taken at the same hour and for the recommended period of time in order to have any positive effect on the patient. Isoniazid is one of the used drugs. It is not expensive, it have little side effects and is easy to take. Other useful drugs are Rifampin, Streptomycin, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol. These drugs are combines as to assure the needed efficiency for the patient. In some cases the bacterium which is responsible for the disease might be resistant to one of the drugs and so the therapist will replace that drug with another one.

The bacterium might be resistant due to a treatment which had not been completed or due to a wrong usage of the medicines.

Luckily there still exist drugs which can replace the basic used drugs in therapy so there will be no problems in treating any patient.

One of the most common questions we get at Ebook Architect is “how much money will I make selling ebooks? Well, like most businesses the answer will depend on many different factors. For example the amount of time you put into the promotion of your ebook will have a direct consequence on sales and market interest in your ebook topic is another important factor. People who are good at picking good ebook topics and promoting their ebooks usually stand to make a lot of money with ebooks.

How Much Money You Ask?

Some Ebook entrepreneurs lose money in the course of a year while some make hundreds of thousands of dollars. More realistically however is somewhere in between these two points. Many ebook authors make between $5,000 and $20,000 a year.

How to Maximize Ebook Sales

The best way to ensure optimum sales is to constantly promote your ebook. This may mean staying in on weekends and staying up late during the week. Some of the best ways to promote your ebook include buying advertising from large advertising portals such as Google and Yahoo, partaking in link exchanges, writing articles for websites and Ezines, building an information dense website and writing great ebook sales pages. Accomplishing all of this is no minor feat. You should expect to be in product development for between 1-6 months and then the promotional aspect may take another 4-12 months. It’s not necessarily an easy job but as stated above the payoff could be substantial.

Worst Case Scenario

Even if you decide half way through the process that ebook entrepreneurship is not your cup of tea, you will still have written an ebook and be selling it online. That makes you an author congratulations. Not only will you be an author but your ebook may give you some extra pocket change on a monthly basis. If nothing else, it will be a good learning experience. You have nothing to lose, so why not give it a shot?

Consider Self Publishing in Ebook Format

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

Today, more than every before authors are presented with publishing opportunities that have never existed before. This is not to understate the hard work that authors have to go through to get recognition, write great books, and make a full time living from their passion of expression. However, it is to say that today, due to advances in communications technology, authors can now get their books distributed much easier than they could a decade ago. One very popular way that authors are distributing their work is digitally through ebooks. Digital books are gaining so much popularity that even some of the most popular authors in the world have used it to distribute their books. Stephen King for example published “Riding the Bullet” exclusively in ebook format. When this ebook began distribution over Barns and Nobel and Amazon.com there was so much demand for the download that the servers of these two book giants slowed down almost to a halt. People that wanted to download the ebook were put in a large queue with the hundreds of thousands of other who downloaded the ebook as well.

It’s not only big name authors that are finding success in ebooks. We at Ebook Architect have been helping authors create, market and sell their ebooks online for years now with great success. Many of these people are first time authors and are often amazed with the success of their ebook sales. Below are some of their ebook writing tips.

Don’t underestimate the power of the Ebook

Ebooks are still looked upon as unpopular by many authors who have not yet taken the time to learn about the success within this industry. For example, while the traditional publishing industry growing at the sluggish rate of 5% a year the digital publishing industry is growing at rates between 30% -50%. This means that the opportunities within the publishing industry are growing at a fraction of the rate that opportunities within the digital publishing industry are growing.

To set up an ebook you don’t need to be a tech wizard

Setting up your ebook from the idea conceptualization stage to the selling stage can’t be completed overnight but it is definitely something that can be done by anyone regardless of your technological background. If you can use a word processor then you can create and sell an ebook online. While it is recommended you set up your own website, it is not necessary. There are outlets such as amazon.com, EBay and Lulu.com to name only a few sites that allow you to post your ebook on their servers.

Setting up an Ebook site is virtually costless and you keep 100% of the profits

With traditional publishers you’ll be lucky to see 10% of the profits from your book. With ebooks however, you keep 100% of the profits minus the fees required to set up the site which are minimal. Here is the fee breakdown for ebooks vs traditional books

Ebook vs Book cost
Ebook = Free to create an unlimited number of copies
Book = Approximately $1500 for 200 copies of a 200 page soft cover book

Rights and profit
Ebook = You keep 100% of the profits and rights to your ebooks
Book = You get 10-40% royalty (usually about $2-$5/ book)

With the above examples it is easy to see that for first time authors ebooks make a lot of sense. The risk associated with publishing an ebook is much lower than it is with distributing a soft or hard cover book. Likewise, as an ebook author you’ll keep virtually all of your own profits.

If nothing else, it is something worth consideration. Ebooks may not replace traditional paperback books, but they certainly are gaining popularity at a rate that should make all authors stop to think about how they could use ebooks to their advantage.

The Chicken or the Egg and the Internet Marketer or Site Designer

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

An age-old question is, “Which came first? The Chicken or the Egg?” In ecommerce, the same question can be applied to site designers and Internet marketers.

Before we settle the answer, we need a few parameters. For purposes of this discussion, a marketer is some formulating and creating Internet marketing strategies and campaigns. This includes search engine optimization. In using the term “designer”, we are throwing a bigger net to include programmers and people writing html.

Introducing the Designer

After deciding to start a site, most businesses will hire a designer or design team as one of the first steps. Intellectually, this makes sense. We need a site, thus, we need someone to build it.

Introducing the Marketer

After a lot of time and money has been spent on the design of the site, the first thought is given to marketing. Books are purchased, online articles such as this are read. PPC is often discovered and, typically, the business decides this looks easy and starts pursuing campaigns. The site starts making sales, but at a loss or a rate that can’t be increased despite a variety of tips. Frustration sets in and professional Internet marketers come on the seen. At this point, things start to get very ugly.

The business interviews a number of marketing professionals. All of them offer services, but on the condition major and expensive changes be made to the site. At this point, the business owner decides one of two things, the marketers are wrong or the designer is incompetent. Both views are wrong.

Holding Hands

Which came first? The marketer or the designer? Neither!

An effective site design combines the practical needs of the design team and marketer. While a designer will create a database to facilitate the showing of products, the marketer will want the designer to keep database parameters out of the sub-domain URLs. Other issues that must be jointly addressed include meta content, load times, abandonment issues and landing pages.

Both design and marketing have to be addressed at the outset of the creation of a site. There is simply no other way to approach an overall e-commerce effort.

Halstatt Pires is a search engine optimization specialist with http://www.marketingtitan.com – an Internet marketing and advertising company in San Diego offering meta tag optimization services and link popularity services.

Ok, so you have ventured out onto the world wide web and have started a few websites. At first you didn’t believe that money could be made online. You had probably heard of people making several thousand dollars a month or even a day just by doing online marketing.

Now that you have had a few sales online you finally see the light. You suddenly realize that if you have two sites making $100 a month, all you need to do is create 10-20 more and you will start making the BIG money.

So you forge ahead and start creating site after site and promoting them. Sales begin to increase and you realize that you are beginning to get overworked. You have to check you email constantly, keep up with the autoresponders you have set up, deal with affiliates. More than likely,
you probably use multiple third party companies to do this.

This is where you begin to wear out and start to wonder how all the “guru’s” in online marketing really succeed.

Well, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Besides having great products and driving traffic to their sites that convert to sales…the one thing almost all big online marketers have is a SYSTEM that runs smoothly. This means
that they can take payments, have autoresponders integrate with orders, have a strong affiliate program, have a newsletter, etc. ALL running in ONE system.

This way everything is automated creating less work for you and more time for you to create more products and websites.

So there you go, the secret you need to know is to AUTOMATE and create a system where everything works together. Without it, you will be working much to hard on tasks that you shouldn’t be wasing time with.

Wholesale Charms: How To Find The Best Wholesale Charms Deals For EBay

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

Wholesale charms offers resellers high profit margins along with high volume sales, when done right.

Resellers, whether flea market vendors, eBay sellers, or dollar stores, will be faced with competition from online and offline retailers who can buy wholesale charms at a lower price.

To outmaneuver this competition in the wholesale charms business, resellers need to have a strategic plan in place.

Part one of their plan deals with finding the best sources for wholesale charms at the lowest possible prices.

For this reason I would recommend resellers to stay away from drop shippers when looking for wholesale charms.

Since the drop shipper is set up to offer his products to thousands of other resellers, you will not be able to compete based on price. All the resellers are paying the same price to the wholesale charms drop shipper, so how can your prices be lower?

When looking to buy wholesale charms you want to get as close to the source as possible.

Since you will not be able to buy brand name wholesale charms for a lower price than major retailers can, you will want to look for lesser known wholesale charms sellers.

For instance, ABC Charms might not have the name recognition that Charms International enjoys, but you can show customers that the quality is the same, and as long as your prices are lower some customers should buy the wholesale clothing manufactured by ABC Charms.

When you contact these companies looking for wholesale charms ask them for their overstock, overrun, and closeout deals. You would be surprised at the wholesale charms deals you can find from small manufacturers that are looking to move merchandise out.

You can find great wholesale charms deals but it will take some solid leg work.

Donny Lowy is the CEO of http://www.closeoutexplosion.com, an online wholesale and closeout business, and http://www.wholesalecloseoutforum.com, an educational site for the wholesale and closeout business.

E-commerce For Beginners

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

Online business owners need to establish a presence online. E-commerce marketing is very important for you to make it in today’s economy. It will be very difficult to increase your sales if you are not willing to market your products constantly using the benefits of the Internet.

To be successful at E-commerce marketing, you must establish an online presence in the form of a web site. This web site should be professionally designed and contain as much information about your products as possible. Also, you must be able to allow people to directly purchase from your website.

There are many ways to get started with E-commerce marketing. Many web site owners use Search engine optimization (SEO) to drive traffic to their web sites. This search engine optimization involves creating quality content that will cause potential customers who first visit to come back over and over again until they buy from you.

I also suggest that you develop your own newsletter. An example of an online newsletter can be found at http://news.burkepublications.com. This way people will have a reason to visit the site and spend time there. As your traffic to your newsletter increases, your sales should increase as well. Another suggestion would be to find other newsletters about the
product or products you are selling and write informative articles with the web site address stated. Over time, some people will come to depend on you as an expert and will want to visit your site.

Message forums are also a great way to market and promote. Not only is this a form of free advertising, but you can also pick up some useful information about running a business online. By joining a message forum you can place your website address in your signature. Remember, if you are able to answer questions posted in the forums, the forum members will start to trust and respect you and be more willing to visit your website and buy your products.

As you can see, there are many ways to succeed online as a web business owner, if you are willing to put the effort into making it happen. E-commerce can be very profitable if you do your research, plan your business and devote many hours to promoting it. Take the time to do the small tasks and your marketing efforts will eventually lead to big results. Some helpful resources may be found at http://burkepublications.com any many

ECommerce Web Site Building: Where Do I Start?

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

Building a web site isn’t something that is really cut and dry. There’s a huge variety of products and services that can either help you get your web site where you want it or simply confuse you. It’s also important that you make the right choices upfront so that you don’t end up having to restructure your whole web site because of some problem in your design layout. The level of time investment neccessary for mastery in a lot of these software packages can range from little to a VERY significant amount. Because of this I feel it’s important to be lead in the “right” direction to make sure you don’t spend time in the wrong areas, or learning some software that might not be all that useful for you later on (*coughs* Frontpage *coughs*).

Where you should start greatly depends on what you plan on attempting to do, and how deep you’re going to dive in. For a moderately professional, clean looking web site without a lot of automation or intensive animated graphics you can probably get by with some basic knowledge of html, ability with a good WYSIWYG editor, and an image editting program. On the other hand, if you’re someone that’s looking to build something that will really wow your audience then you might consider spending some major time and developing some animation skills with a program like Macromedia Flash. I personally always spring for what I believe will bring me the greatest amount of profit with a minimal amount of effort, and because of this I usually end up spending all of my time diving in deeper with ONLY my WYSIWYG HTML editor, and my image editor.

What is a “WYSIWYG” editor?
A WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor is what allows you to get by with minimal knowledge of HTML. Yes, that means you don’t have to know EVERYTHING about HTML to have a decent looking website. When you use a WYSIWYG editor it interprets what you’re doing (inserting an image for example) as being a certain series of HTML tags with attributes, and does it for you… Thus, what you see on your screen is what you get. Instead of seeing a bunch of HTML code in text format, you’ll mostly see what will actually show up in your browser once your web site is up WHILE you’re making it. I highly recommend using the latest version of dreamweaver — it is well-known as one of the best HTML editors by general consensus. Dreamweaver’s interface is very friendly, has a built in FTP client, and is specifically built to be flexible enough to suit both the coder and the everyday amatuer webmaster.

Image editing? What do I need that for?
Okay, let’s be realistic here: If you’re going to make a professional *appearing* web site it’s important that you can make some basic, decent looking graphics. There’s a lot of graphics problems that can truly get the job done, but as far as power and flexibility goes I recommend Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop definitely takes some time getting used to, but in the end it’s VERY rewarding. I’ve ended up using my knowledge of Photoshop to make not only graphics for multiple web sites, but also touched up portraits, made business cards, flyers, and other online advertisments such as banners. Infact, I’ve used it for everything except animation… But it also comes with Adobe Imageready which is very good with animation. This software is amazing, and if you’re going to learn ANY image editing software I recommend you start with Photoshop because of it’s widerange of overall… usefulness!

Let’s get me some sales!
Kick off your new web site you’ve gotten up from your knowledge of webmastering and image editing with a few new sales… Sounds like a plan? Well a great way to do that quickly is with pay-per-click advertising. BUT WAIT! Doesn’t that cost money? Well… Yes. But with the tools brought to us by some of the biggest pay-per-click advertisers out there we should be able to make a good evaluation of how much profit we’re going to make without much investment upfront.

The big question behind pay-per-click advertising is whether or not it’s worth the cash when you can simply get traffic from regular search engine ranking (otherwise known as organic traffic). Afterall, there are plenty of companies out there that promise to help get you all the traffic you need through optimizing your web site for organic ranking. The answer to this question is quite simple: profit is profit. Through conversion tracking tools such as those offered by Yahoo! Search Marketing and Google Adwords anyone can calculate exactly what their profit is after cost of PPC advertising is taken out. In my opinion, Google Adwords has the most user-friendly interface among the PPC advertisers. Google Adword’s interface makes it very easy to see which keywords are pulling you in the most sales, and which ones aren’t even worth your advertising money.

Let us not forget, however, that in order to make those conversions we’re going to be needing a shopping cart! There’s a lot of diverse software packages out there you can use, but I’ve been using Mal’s E-Commerce Free shopping cart for a number of years with great success. The cart’s server is hosted on their machines so that means you not only get away with not having to pay for the software itself, but you get out of having to buy an SSL security ticket too! Nothing’s a better bargain than free, eh?

Getting those sales leads you’ve been building up to BUY!
Once you’ve scored a few sales it would probably be a good idea to start using some kind of lead management services. I highly recommend the use of autoresponders for this purpose. Autoresponders are, essentially, a newsletter sign-up that allows you to strategically determine what you want to send each lead after a certain alotted amount of time. For example, let’s say someone visits your web site and you offer them a free newsletter. If you were selling an ebook on some very complicated topic, you might consider sending them only information on the most basic concepts at first to get them interested. Slowly but surely, you can turn those visitors that might have left your web site and never have returned into some serious revenue!

As far as autoresponders go, I highly recommend the use of Aweber. Their customer service is superb (seriously, these guys really know their stuff!) and can be contacted at any point during the business day via online chat or phone. They also offer tons of free information, and guides on making the most of their services. Check out their month long free trial at http://www.getaweber.com/

Data entry job

Thirty years ago data entry job was handled very differently from the way we do things today. From keypunch, key to disk and now one thing has not changed that is data entry remain key to success, only the tools and the workload have changed.

Data entry job today is just as essential as it was 30 years ago. As business depends more on enterprise, Resource planning, customer relationship management and other enterprise applications. More and more of the information needed to run a business must be online. Part-time employment rose during the early 1990s recession, as it does in every economic recession but fell again as economic growth picked up. Moreover, as noted earlier, most part-time workers choose to work part-time. Only one part-timer out of five is stuck in part-time hours involuntarily. The proportion of part-time workers who would prefer full-time work rises during recessions, but has never amounted to a majority of the part-time workforce.

Now a days data entry job online is to make money sitting at home. In today’s dynamic work environment, there are no such thing as life long employment anymore. You must keep upgrading yourself with new skills every year and to move up, you must be able to perform. Getting a part time stay at home job or learning how to run a part time business or computer work at home job is one of the common ways many job seekers are using to tide them over during the unemployment period. There are many legitimate employment opportunities for someone who want a job to work at home. Give some thoughts to it and you will realize that you have quite a lot of working at home job options. Getting a home base job is much easier today than before, especially with an Internet Job.

There are many different reasons why people decide they want to make money with a home base jobs. Businesses around the world are looking for ways to reduce their business cost in order to remain competitive. This new trend had open up many work from home job opportunities for many people. Sooner or later, most teens think about taking a part-time job. Unless you’re independently wealthy, or you’re too busy with sports or other activities, chances are you too will consider it. But have you thought about just how part-time employment might enhance your future career prospects? Since there are a number of different reasons why you might be looking for a part time job, the questions you should ask yourself vary. Are you a college student who needs a part time job to help support yourself while you earn a degree? A stay at home mom looking for a part time job as a reintroduction into the workforce? Someone with another fulltime job that needs a little more income to make ends meet? What you need to consider depends on your personal situation.

If you are a college student: Can you give enough time to a part time job without harming your grades? Is your transportation or local mass transit adequate to get you to an off campus job? Can you reliably report to your part time job? Remember, most business owners don’t care if you have a test tomorrow – they just need someone who can do the job they are paying for.

If you are a stay-at-home mom preparing to rejoin the workforce after your youngest enters college: Is the part time job something that can transition to a full time job? Will this job be a resume-enhancer? If you are a single mom, be warned that part time jobs rarely offer benefits. If you need a health coverage plan, you will need to find full time employment. If you are lucky enough not to need the income from a part time job, but are just looking for an interest outside the home, or a way to give something back to society, volunteering is a viable alternative to a part time job, and volunteers often transition to paying positions within the organization they volunteer for. If you need a part time job for additional income simply because your fulltime job isn’t paying all the bills, you have some serious questions to ask yourself. Are you in debt because of reckless spending? Consider a consolidation loan and debt counseling either in lieu of, or in addition to, finding a part time job.

If you have been a prudent spender and still can’t make it on your salary, ask yourself whether your fulltime job is paying as much as it should? Are there other jobs in your field that pay better and might remove the necessity of your working another job? Consider asking for a raise at your fulltime job before looking for part time employment, but whatever you do, do not use your financial situation as an argument for a raise, especially if others in your pay grade are sending children to college on the salary you are having trouble living on. If there is no alternative to taking a part time job in addition to working another job fulltime, make sure the pay is sufficient to make up for the additional costs to you. If you must drive 45 miles and pay for parking, the increased costs may eat up the pay you receive and you will be no better off – and significantly more tired – than you were before taking on a part time job. The ideal, of course, is to work a well-paid part time job as a try-out if you are considering leaving your current job. But be warned – your current employer will consider this disloyal and will not consider you for advancement if it becomes known you are looking elsewhere.

In all cases, consider the position of your potential employer. While asking yourself questions about how the part time job can benefit you, either financially or by enhancing your future employability, take a few moments to consider how employing you can benefit your employer. If you know the answer to this, you are much more likely to be selected than someone whose motives are purely financial.

Growing Companies and information leakages

Last Updated: 2011/09/14

Do you know all possible ways to take information out of company so that no one would know about this? I’m sure, even there are some certain security rules there are still some possible ways for information leakage. Let’s think about how can we control this process.

First, it’s necessary to understand that there no any absolute means about security. Even if USB port it blocked, it’s still possible to write some data to USB, if there is system that controls outgoing mails, then it’s still possible to use some trick that intruder might use to send out important data out of the company.

So how to manage information security policies to prevent possible data leakages? Let’s list all possible ways to prevent leakage. There are two general categories – active and proactive security. These terms are sometime hard to understand in real word, so let’s discuss another approach. There are means that will help to prevent the fact of information leakage, and there are means that will help to find out, if information was leaked. Both methods should be considered when building information security at your company.

How to prevent information leakage. First, it’s necessary to apply a security policy which will guaranty the access to the certain data only for trusted persons, in this way you will always know who has access to the data, so it is easier to find possible intruder and to control your employees.

Second, consider all possible ways for information to be stolen, such as sent out by email, copies by some employee, stolen by some spyware software, copies to the external drive, etc. Think about all possible ways and think about risks applied. Try to minimize the risk for the most important data.

Let’s list some possible security issues and the ways how we can get rid of them.

Keyloggers and other spyware software. Keylogger is a program that works in background, records all keystrokes and send out information to third-party. The good idea is to start with firewall, which will allow access to the internet only for a certain programs.

Intruder insider your company. Statistics shows that there are some in most companies. The bad news is that these people might produce more damage that all other attackers. Make sure you know about what employee do, what he or she keeps on his hard disk and all you do comply with privacy policy of your company.

Hardware that might be dangerous. There are software that allows to lock USB ports, there are software that allows to block access to any other writeable media, consider installing these tools on computers and user accounts which doesn’t need to use this functions during their work.

Finally, the key principle about fighting information leakage is to be proactive. You don’t need to wait until some information will be stolen, being a little paranoid will help to save your business. It’s easy to install and integrate into the security policy some audit measures, that will regularly check your company for possible security holes, it’s simple, but it’s work.
