Make Your Thank You Pages Do Double-Duty

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

I have a question for you: When someone signs up to receive your ezine or other Free Taste of what it is that you’re offering, where do they end up?

Do they see a polite thank you page from you? Or do they see the default confirmation page from your list service? Or do they see nothing and are left wondering if the registration went through?

People who are signing up for your list expect to see a page afterwards as a normal part of the transaction. On that page, it’s important to thank them for signing up and make them feel good about their decision. Also, if you’re using a double opt-in for your list, let them know that they need to confirm their subscription before they will receive the information they requested from you.

But there’s much more you can do with this page, so why not leverage it? Here’s a few ideas as to how:

1. Add Tell-A-Friend

Most people are happy to refer you to someone else they know who might benefit from what you’re offering, if you’ll just ask them.

You can do this easily by simply asking them to point others to your sign-up page, or by using a simple referral software program, like TAFPro, which creates a simple form to fill in with a name and email address of the person they are making the referral to. Once they hit send, an email gets sent directly to the recipient and a copy comes to you as well.

This is a great way to add new subscribers to your list without you having to do more work.

2. Make another offer

The best time to make an offer to someone is when they are already engaged with you. Someone who has just signed up to receive information from you is likely to be interested in something else you have to offer. Use this page to make an offer on one of your lower ticket items in your funnel. By doing so, you’ll gain sales that you wouldn’t otherwise.

3. Ask a question

This is a prime time to gather a little market research from your readers. Ask a simple question, like “What’s your biggest challenge with X?” (X being your niche or what it is that your offering). Add an email link where they can send their answer, and then use this information as you continue to develop offerings for your target market.

Doing this also helps in starting to build a relationship with your readers, and it keeps you up-to-date as to what they are struggling with right now so you can offer the solutions they most want.

4. Refer them elsewhere

Hook up with a colleague to start trading some thank you page traffic. On your thank you page, say something like, “I know you’ll also benefit from (name of ezine) published by (name of publisher).” Then give them instructions on how to sign up. Your colleague would do the same for you on their thank you page.

I implement all four of these strategies on various thank you pages, which are helping me build a stronger relationship with my readers, find out what it is that they most want my help with, build my list faster and easier (while helping a handful of colleagues build theirs), and make more sales by making more offers.

I encourage you to leverage your thank you pages this way in your own business. Making them work double-duty for you will absolutely create the same results for you that I’m enjoying, so pick one and start working it today.

10 tips for internal website optimization.

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

1. Optimize Your Title Tag.
Always important to remember your keywords, also in your titel tag, do never write your company name or something like that, instead use a descriptive text containing as many keywords relevant to your site subject as possible. (note: keep your titel about 60 characters).

2. Creating good content.
Eventhough your main product is to sell pictures from your website, google and other search engines can’t ‘see’ them, so you need som descriptive text content, search engines has a very complex way of reading a website for content and to find out what your site is about, so remember to use alot of good relevent keywords in your text content, (but remember to spread them naturaly).

3. What confuses search engines?
Well, this is and have been a very big discussion topic for a long time now, some of the factors that can confuse search engines is javascript, using frames on pages, dynamic pages (eg. asp.net etc). Almost forgot to say that if you are using flash elements, eventhough there are text in it, search engines can’t read it, so not recommented.

4. META tags.
META tags are a way to describe your site for search engines, its text that is not shown on the pages. (Some people claim that google does nothing with these tags anymore, but we don’t know, and I know that other sites uses them, so why not just write them anyway).
META name=’description’ content=’a well optimized short description of your page’>

5. Robots text file
The Robots.txt is a file you have on your site, not for visitors, but for search engines when they look at your site they looks after a robots file, and if it exists it is easier for search engines to index all your sites. You can generate a robot file with this software for free.

6. The thing about images
I mentioned before that search engines can’t read images, thats not completly true, images has an ALT tag, that makes it possible for your to put in a descriptiv text to the images, some says that google sees that, so here is the code.

img src=’my_image.jpg’ width=’50′ height=’60′
ALT=’A descriptive text in here.’

7. Text sizes.
Some people also says that search engines look at text that is emphasized (eg. h1). so my
theory is, if you are doing as I have done for years, just writting text and then set up the visual part in a seperate css file, then google can’t se that the text is a header1 or header2 text.

So what to do could be, in your website page, make the text h1 and in a css file define the h1 tag to look different.
H1 { color: blue; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 16px }

8. Remember filenaming.
Another thing to look at is your filename, your first page may be named default.html, but if you go to google and search for something, like ‘Free SEO Tools’ you can see that google also looks at sub-directorys and filenames, like. www.seo.dd-soft.com/SEO-tools-free-download-internal.aspx,
this says more than just download.aspx.

9. Internal linking
Always remember to link your site together, your need search engines to find more then just your front page.

10. Some personale words before you go on making a website.
This last tip is not really a tip, just some words from me personally to you, I have read a lot of litteratur about SEO, and other marketing techniques, so just do not forget, depending on what your site content is, there may be other ways to market your product, it could even be done cheap or for free, be creative.

15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission Sites

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

15 Commandments To Submitting Articles – Article Submission Sites
By: Martin Lemieux

1) Don’t use all capitals in your title:

People don’t like to be yelled at. USING CAPITALS is the same as yelling and looks awful. There aren’t many article submission sites that accept ALL capitals in your title.

2) Only use HTML when asked:

There is nothing worse for an editor when he/she has to strip out HTML because you failed to follow the guidelines. If the website asks for NO HTML then don’t add any.

3) Only use simple HTML:

If you are allowed to use HTML, just use the basics. Ex. (P)aragraph, (B)old, (I)talicized, (LI)st bullets, (A)link, etc. These HTML codes are considered basic and are usually accepted when submitting your article in HTML format.

4) Don’t use articles to advertise your services within the content:

There is nothing worse than reviewing an article and seeing 5/10 links that are owned by the author embedded within the content of the article. Granted, sometimes you have something unique to help others with and you need to get the word out, I like to see such promotion but ONLY if it is useful for the readers and it is FREE, not a paid service or product. Try not to use this unique information within every single article that you write. This info will then become a little useless for the editors and they may even delete that section. Please remember to READ the “Author Guidelines” before you start submitting your articles.

5) Don’t submit press releases as tips:

There is a distinct difference between a press release and an informative article. Press releases are strictly for announcing news about your company. Informative articles teach people about a specific subject (not about your company).

6) Have your articles edited by editors:

These days, there are so many authors trying to make their mark. It is imperative that you get your article edited by an editor, friend, colleague, or someone who is really good at checking for spelling and grammar.

7) Try to write something unique to the industry:

People all over the world are writing about the same thing. If you truly want to shine, try writing about topics that aren’t covered by everyone. If you discover something new, do some research on what people are saying about it. If you can’t find any other content, you may have found a gold mine.

8) Don’t copy other people’s content:

This topic is seriously funny. We have caught people actually stealing our articles and simply changing the title of the article to call it their own. How pathetic! If you use someone else’s content, only use it for study, not for your own promotion and recognition. If you “quote” someone else, make sure to give credit where appropriate.

9) Find 5 new article submission sites to submit to:

If you submit articles once a week, try and make it a habit to find 5 new article submission sites to submit to. I guarantee you that new article submission websites popup almost weekly. We are still finding new sites to submit to, there is no limit to your search. Go within Google and do a search similar to “article submission sites”, or “Where to submit articles to?”.

Here are 5 newer article submission sites:

9.1) http://www.article99.com
9.2) http://www.a1articles.com
9.3) http://www.activeauthors.com
9.4) http://www.articlepros.com
9.5) http://www.free-articles-zone.com

10) Keep your author bio short & sweet:

Try keeping your author biography short & sweet. There is nothing worse than seeing an article submission and realizing that most of the article content is within the author bio. Use one sentence and a couple of links. Most submission sites will accept up to 3 links within your resource box.

11) Don’t buy articles from other companies and call them your own:

Commandment #11 is sweeping the world and is giving the article writing industry a bad name. Please don’t even consider buying articles from people that claim that they will write a “UNIQUE” article for you to promote. Trust me when I tell you this, the article that you buy has been sold and re-sold many times. You will be doing your company no justice at all by buying articles. Article submission websites frown down on this method and will ban you from ever submitting articles again if you are caught.

12) Try not to attack others within your articles:

Being libelous is not good karma. Attacking others will give a negative effect for your articles. In fact, most article submission websites won’t accept articles that are libelous.

13) Use copyright information at the bottom of your article:

Adding your copyright information at the top won’t help you at all. I’ve come across many websites that simply delete your copyright information if it is listed at the top. That’s what your author bio is for. Add any reprint rights and copyright information within your bio.

14) Affiliate links should never be used:

DO NOT USE AFFILIATE LINKS PERIOD! Promoting affiliate links within articles is a no no. Most article submission websites have a rule against listing affiliate links within author’s articles (body content) and your author bio. If you absolutely need to use an affiliate link, try creating a “short link” that simplifies the link into a smaller, more compact link.

15) Setup For Manual Submissions:

Most link submission softwares aren’t the answer. There is nothing better than personalizing your submissions by submitting them manually. Granted, this can take up to 2-4 hours per week if you write one article a week BUT submitting manually will get your article listed within two times as many article submission websites than the software’s can. Many websites require a login or show you an image to “enter the characters shown” to login and submit articles. By using a software, you will never be able to submit to such companies.

Many article submission websites have different and unique fields that they require for you to enter. If you use a software, you will never have that personal touch that each individual website & editor is looking for and your articles will never be accepted.

If you follow these commandments, you should have no problem getting your articles listed on 1000′s of websites and get a great deal of promotion for your company.

Keep writing and keep submitting!

4 Ways To Get Your Opt In Subscribers To Trust You

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

While the rest of the world have developed many barriers and protections to keep their e-mail accounts spam-free, there are also those that subscribe to mails that promotes their products, services and their site. This is mainly because these subscribes wants to know more about what these sites are offering and can be beneficial for them. They expect to get be kept posted on what they are interested in and what are new in the market or field they have chosen.

Businesses would be so lucky to have these kinds of customers; the basic element needed to get these types of people is trust. When your customers trust you they will reward you with their loyalty. Many internet users have gone to great lengths in protecting their email accounts from spam mail. Some free-mail internet providers and internet service providers offer spam protection while there are also some internet based companies that screen your mails for you.

With an opt-in mail list, the mails you send containing your promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and marketing media will go through. Your intended recipient will be able to read and view what you have sent making it a successful transfer of information. To be able to be allowed to do so, you will need permission from your recipient, to get this permission; you need to be able to get their trust. With the great lack of disregard for privacy in the internet, getting the trust of an internet user you don’t personally know is a big achievement.

To build a good opt-in list you need people to trust you, for a faster and quicker build up, you need to get your opt-in subscribers to trust you quickly. The faster you build your opt-in list the faster word about your site and company gets to be spread. The bigger the scope of your opt-in list the more traffic you get spelling more profits. Its easy math if you thin about it. Getting the numbers is not that simple though, or maybe it is?

Getting the trust of your clientele shouldn’t be so hard especially if you do have a legitimate business. Getting your customers trust should be based upon your expertise. People rely on other people who know what they are talking about. Garner all the knowledge and information about your business. Ell, frankly if you decide to go into a business most probably you have an interest in it. Like how many basketball payers become coaches, you don’t really venture into something you don’t have any interest in.

Show your clients that you know what you are talking about. Provide them with helpful hints and guidelines that pertain to what you are selling. Talk about how to install a roof if your into hardware products or provide articles on insurance settlements if you’re a settlement lawyer. You don’t have to be a big corporation to make use of an opt-in list. If your customers see you as someone who knows what he is doing and saying, they will trust you quickly.

Be true to your customers, if you want to hype up your products and services, provide guarantees. The more satisfied customers you get, the bigger probability there is that they will recommend you. Generally, people will trust someone they know, when that someone recommends you then you’re a shoo-in. They will go to your site and check it for themselves and be given a chance to experience what the other shave experienced from you, so make sure to be consistent in the service you provide.

Another tip in getting a customer to trust you quickly is to provide them an escape hatch. Show them that you are not there to trap them. Keep a clean list that would enable them to unsubscribe anytime they want. Elaborate your web form by providing information on how to unsubscribe from the list. Guarantee them that they can let go of the service when ever they want to. Many are wary that they may be stuck for life and would have to abandon their email accounts when they get pestered with spam.

Remember that when you get the trust of your clients don’t lose that trust. Because if you do anything with their email addresses like sell them or give them out, you will lose many members of your list as ell as potential members. The true quickest way to gain the trust of your subscribers is when you are recommended by someone they trust.

5 Tips For Finding Hot Products To Sell On eBay!

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Deciding that you want to utilize the number one auction site on the World Wide Web, to market your goods and services to, can be a risky as well as a scary proposition. You’re going to have to do your homework to see if what you have to offer falls into the list of “Hot Items” to sell. Without some research your success will be hypothetical at best. Without realizing some profits, the recurring fees just mount up as you watch your advertising budget fly out the window. If you do not have an in demand product or service, you have no one bidding, consequently you have no sales.

So where do you start? What products would be on the list of “Hot Items” to sell? I’ve put a small list of tips below to start you off.

1. Keep your finger on the pulse of the marketplace. Read magazines, newspaper classifieds, and pay attention to TV and radio commercials. What’s being marketed the most, don’t rely on what you already know. Go beyond that. What are advertisers competing for? Whatever it is, chances are it’s a pretty hot market. If you feel there is too much competion then do something that can enhance it. For instance, iPods and MP3′s are “Hot” right now. You could put together an eBook with all the sources for those items listed in it to aid your customer in their search for the best possible prices. See what folks are looking for and give it to them.

2. eBay has a pretty extensive collection of tools associated with your sellers account. Run a search to see what’s being sold and for how much. Determine if you can compete with the price its being sold for. Human nature says that the masses will go for the best possible price. Everybody loves a bargain. However, if you’ve gone the distance with your product and made it just a little bit better than most or if you’ve offered some bonuses that add real value to their purchase, chances are you’ll win the bid and make the sale.

3. The Internet is not referred to as The Information Super Highway for nothing. With all these resources at your fingertips, this would be a good first choice for researching your campaign. Google, Overture, Yahoo and any number of other search engines can give you some eye opening facts regarding the number of times a particular item has been searched for. You could also go to nichebot.com and utilize the Keyword Discovery Tool, among others, at their site. andale.com is an eBay tool which is a pay site as is the Keyword Discovery Tool on nichebot. If you can afford it, they are highly recommended. If you take a bit of time the information you can compile will be worth its weight in gold. It will mean the success or failure of your campaign.

4. Keep in mind that most of what is popular in the Real World will, in most cases be popular on eBay. Entertainment is immensely popular. Sports items and memorabilia, Music, Movies, and all their electronic counterparts. The list is huge as are the profits.

5. If you’ve been following the latest technological developments, you may want to try your hand at speculation by putting a plan in motion to benefit you before they’re actually released. Simply use the tips above and make your plan accordingly.

Once they were only for the rich and were only fitted in the very high end cars but today SatNav systems are available to all. You can either opt for the in-car fitted systems that are still quite expensive or you can go for the handheld or protable units. This article is about the latter.

What is SatNav?

SatNav is a system that comprises of 2 elements, a GPS data receiver and a CPU/display unit. The receiver gets information from orbiting GPS navigational satellites and communicates it to the CPU/display unit. This unit is then able to find its exact location on the planet by comparing signals from various satellites.

The unit incorporates road maps of the area and places an indicator on the map showing where the car is on the maps.

Features

The units allow you to plan a journey ahead of time and then the unit will guide you to you destination by displaying a map showing you where you are and the direction you should be heading. Most now have voice instructions so the unit will tell you, when you are approaching a junction, which turning you should take. The units are also capable of making real time adjustments to the route, this means that if you go the wrong way the until will recalculate the route to your destination taking into account the wrong turning you have just made.

Maps

The maps for the unit can be loaded for the different regions you visit, so they may have a map of the UK and another for France and so on. Most modern unit have the maps stored on a removable memory cards like SD cards or similar memory card but some units read directly from a CD or DVD. The display can be set to show the conventional flat map view or the new 3D view that shows a view as if it was above you and looking forward. This view is very good and clear.

Traffic

Some units offer systems that will warn you of road works/traffic jams etc as they happen, and offer suggestion as to how to avoid them.

POI

Most units have POI’s (Points of Interest) incorporated into them that will show things like garages, restaurants, historic sites, airport and ferries etc. You can also add your own POI’s of your favourite places. One POI that is very popular is the location of all the speed camera and accident black spot locations.

Weather

Another feature that is becoming increasingly available is the weather for a location. The system will tell you the weather at a certain location on the map i.e. at that beach location you are planning to visit.

When you want to plan a journey you will need to enter the start and end destination, this can be done in a number of ways, the city, street and house number. The street intersections, the post codes and a location chosen on the on screen map. The start can be done in the same way with the addition of the present location as the starting point (remember the unit knows where you are). There are then itinerary or way points, these allow you to program destinations along the way. Finally you are usually presented with choices of routes with choices like, Fastest Route, Shortest Route, Scenic Route, Avoid Motorways etc some have the choice to avoid toll charges.

Fitting

The units can be fitted into the car in a number of ways but the 2 most popular ways are with a mounting bracket that has a strong suction cup that sticks to the windscreen. The second way is a bracket that fixed to the cars air vents, this method can be very good but required a fixing for each type of car. The unit is then fitted to the brackets and adjusted to the best viewing angle.

There are dozens of systems available now with a variety of choices of the options available. You need to choose which of the above options are important to you and then choose the until that best suits you or suits you price range.

You can see a large variety of different units at different costs at my favourite comparason site www.wangled.co.uk just type in “Mobile GPS”

Measure Your Results for Faster, Easier and More Success

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

When I was studying for my MBA, my most challenging class was statistics. And even though I managed an A- in the class, it took very one of the few analytical brain cells I had to do so.

So imagine my pleasant surprise when I sat down to analyze the statistics of my business over the last 12 months and found myself engrossed, fascinated, excited and practically dancing for joy. Armed with this critical data, now I know exactly where to spend my time and efforts going forward to receive the highest and best rate of return!

I ran a total of about 20 reports, but let me share some of what I learned specifically from my shopping cart’s reports:

Shopping Cart Stats

The shopping cart system I use (1ShoppingCart) has the ability to run sales reports in a variety of ways. Below are four of the reports I ran, what my results were, and what I will do with those results:

a. My Monthly Sales Totals…

…showed me that my best month financially was December, with a close second in February and a third in October.

I reviewed my marketing and sales (making offers) activities for those months, and what I found was this:

In December, my best financial month, I held my 50% off holiday sale – and I didn’t have to do a thing to bring in those sales, other than promote it. So, if you’re hesitating about having a sale, and even more so if you’re hesitating about giving a big discount, don’t. You’ll not only make sales that you wouldn’t have otherwise, you’ll likely make MORE sales than you would have otherwise, which of course means more money.

In February, I launched the first edition of my “21 Easy & Essential Steps to Online Success System” – and it’s become my bestselling product. Those are two solid reasons to do an updated and revised version, which I am right now.

In October, I held my “How to Make Your Teleseminars Make You Money” teleseminar. Obviously this was, and is, a hot topic, for my market, so I packaged it into a product for immediate purchase (click here for details). I’m also considering adding it to my list of live programs to offer this year.

b. My Sales by Ad Campaign…

… showed me which special offers were the ones you were most interested in taking advantage of. Now I know which offers to consider repeating, or offering on another product or program in the future.

c. My Sales by Clients/Customers…

… showed me who my top clients/customers are, what they’ve bought, and how much they’ve invested in my offerings. And since I know that one of the most effective ways to grow a business is to make additional offers to those who have already bought from me, you can bet that not only will I do that, but I’ll do it in a way that makes them feel special – because they are to me – by offering them special access or discounts or additional benefits as my way of thanking them for their continued business and loyalty.

d. My “Where did you hear about us” Report…

… showed me that even though I thought that some of my online networking efforts weren’t really paying off, mainly because I didn’t think I was focusing enough time on them, I was wrong. It seems even the small amount I had been doing was making an impact.

So now I know the top 4-5 places to really focus those efforts going forward. This makes what can seem like an overwhelming marketing activity (some lists are SO active) into an extremely managable and once-again enjoyable one.

I gleaned all of this information from just four reports from my shopping cart. And this doesn’t include the reports I ran from my email list service (Aweber) or from my web stats (Google Analytics).

Measuring the results of your business activities is critical to your success, and anyone can do it (it’s really one of those “if I can, anyone can” kind of things). I really want to encourage you to take a look at where you’ve been over the past 6-12 months, analyze that data, and make some strategic decisions about where you want to focus your efforts going forward to get where you want to be.

5 Easy Steps to Leveraging Your Articles

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Writing valuable content-rich articles for your target market and submitting them to article directories and other publishers is one of the best ways to market your business, become known as an expert in your field, and add subscribers to your list.

For example, if you regularly write an article for your ezine, you can get a lot more mileage out of it if you submit it to article directories and other online publishing services. And making every piece you write work more than once for you is one way to work smarter and not harder. That’s called leverage.

There are several reasons why you want to do this. One is to get your name and your business out there so people will learn who you are and what you do, and it helps to position you as an expert. No more keeping yourself a secret and hiding behind your computer! :) Another reason is that your articles give people a taste of your style, what it is that you offer, and it gives them an opportunity to get to know you a bit without risking anything.

At the end of each article include a resource box so if people want to find out more about you and your business, they have that information at their fingertips. Once someone reads your article, if they like your stuff, they will likely visit your website and sign up for your Free Taste (your free offering that gets people on your list). And writing articles is one of the fastest (and FREE) ways to get lots of exposure, especially if a publisher with a large list picks it up!

Want to get started? Here are the 4 easy steps:

1. Write the article or recycle one you’ve already written, giving it a fresh edit (it never hurts).

Write or revise an article targeted at your niche that is full of valuable content. A couple of tips: Articles can be anywhere from 400-700 words in length for the best chance of being picked up (if you have a longer article, consider chopping it in half and making it two shorter articles). Also, articles with lists, steps, or mini-chunks of information seem to be the most read.

2. Add your copyright.

Don’t forget to protect your work by adding a copyright. At the end of each article, put a copyright notice with the date of when you first published the article. For example, copyright (or ©) 2007 Alicia M Forest.

3. Write the copy for your author’s box.

After your copyright notice comes what’s usually referred to as the “resource box” or “author’s box.” In order for others to publish your work, ask that they include this information at the end of your article, keeping what you provide in it whole and intact. As this is standard practice, you’ll find most publishers will honor this request.

Write 3-5 lines that entice people to find out more about you by providing the web address to the sign-up page for your Free Taste. You don’t need to use this valuable real estate to promote your business, but do use it to encourage people to join your list by signing up for your ezine or other free offering.

A tip: Again, don’t send your article readers to your home page. Send them to a page set up specifically to add them to your list. For example, say “for more articles like this, please visit www.yourezinepage.com to sign up!”

4. Submit your article.

Although this is one of the most time-consuming marketing tasks, it can be made much simplier by either hiring a VA to do it for you, or using an article submission service. The service I use and recommend is:

SubmitYOURArticle

There are literally hundreds of websites that offer free content for publishers who are in need of quality articles for their own publications or websites. Here are some of the best ones:

www.ezinearticles.com
www.ideamarketers.com

5. Turn it into a blog post and/or podcast

If you have a business blog, be sure to leverage your article by posting it to your blog. Not only will this give you more exposure, it will also increase your search engine traffic because the search engine spiders LOVE blogs and will read and index your blog URL every time you post new content.

If you’re podcasting, use your article as a script to record and offer as a podcast as a way to increase your market reach to the audio learners in your target market.

Bonus step:

If you want to see stronger results from submitting your articles, contact directly those publishers of ezines and websites in your niche. Google publishers of ezines in your target market and then send a query to the editor/owner about submitting an article. Present yourself as a professional and offer your article for their use, provided the resource box remains in tact. Paste your article under your message (attachments can get blocked, and if the receiver doesn’t know you it’s unlikely they will open and read it anyway).

Writing and submitting articles is one of the tried-and-true, if slow-and-steady, ways to build your list, become known as an expert, and offer value to your target market.

5 Tips For Running A Successful Online Business

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

There are a couple of key things to look at when starting an online business. I’m not here to give you “hidden secrets,” just a few fundamental tips to get you started. Basically there are five major factors to look at provided you have the products and/or resources.

1. Enjoy what you are doing!  It will make all the difference in the world if you actually enjoy what you are offering your customers.  A large number of online businesses are started purely for profit and nothing else.  This is usually shown in their business practice.  The quality of your work will be much greater provided you enjoy the subject. Online or on a street, your business should be run with an underlying interest in the product or service.

2.  Site design is the first thing a prospective customer sees!!  I have seen some horrible designs.  If you think putting some text up, a couple links and a logo on a page is enough, you will likely fail before you even realize.  You will also notice a lot of companies have a generic template that can be found online at templetemonster or any other template site.  Avoid these.  It is very hard to develop a company image when you look like 134,000 other companies.  I suggest you put a bit of effort and creativity into a well designed “professional” looking home page for your company.  The bottom line is a new customer will not even consider buying anything from you, if they feel you are an armature no matter how great your services are or how cheap your products might be.

3.  Develop your website as a total package to your customers.  Don’t just present your products and leave it at that.  Offer tutorials, articles, support forums etc.  These additional services not only provide additional content for you customers, but if developed correctly, will bring additional traffic to your site which will potentially lead to more sales.

4.   Find your niche. Take the hosting business for example. The hosting business as a whole is a huge industry which is very competitive.  Your best chance at success is to simply find a market and develop your business to cater to that specific niche.  An excellent example of this is http://elite-hosts.org/ who offer hosting and development to those who operate online forums.  It’s easier to be a big fish in a little pond than to risk having your message drowned out by too much competition.

5.  You MUST understand how search engines work.  Over 90% of your business will likely come directly from search engine results.  Therefore, it is absolutely essential to optimize your site for search engines.  You could have the greatest deals in the entire world, but if no one knows about them then your efforts are wasted.  Do a search on google for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  You will find tons of great information on how to create a website that is both user friendly and search engine friendly.  There are also countless numbers of companies and freelancers out there who offer SEO services.  Just be cautious of their offers and do your research first.  Remember, NO ONE can guarantee top placement in major search engines, no matter what they say.

Maybe in the early 90′s the idea of “if you build it they will come” might have been true. But in the year 2005 the internet is a far more competitive and complex place   To be successful today, you have to develop a business plan which works from all angels.  If you can develop an online business that you enjoy operating, which has a professional design, some extra content, search engine friendly and which targets a specific niche, you will have a far greater chance at success.  Of course there are many other factors to consider as well, but if you can master these five fundamentals, everything else should fall into place.

Your Marketing & Product Funnel: The Key to Online Success

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

One of the biggest shifts that came for me in building my own successful business was learning about – and implementing – what I call my Marketing & Product Funnel.

You know what a funnel looks like, right? It’s wide and the top and tapers down to a narrow opening. When your prospects enter your funnel through your ezine or other (usually) freebie offering, they are in the “getting to know you” level of the funnel.

Once they get to know you, like you and trust you, they likely will move down to the next level, which will include your for-fee products and services, your least expensive ones first, increasing in value and cost as they continue downwards, until they eventually get to hiring you one-on-one or to your other big ticket item. That’s basically how the funnel system of marketing works.

I see a lot of coaches and other solo service professionals offer a freebie at the top of their funnel, and then their one-on-one service packages at the bottom, with nothing in between. I made this mistake myself. It’s important to have offerings at each level of your marketing funnel so people can continue to get to know, like and trust you, as well as get to know, like and trust your products and services.

Implementing the Marketing & Product Funnel system is easy. Get started by attracting prospects into your funnel. Create a freebie offering (an ezine, mini ecourse, ebook, report, guide, checklist, etc.) and put a sign-up form ‘above the fold’ and prominently on your website. And add a link to your freebie offering in your email signature as well.

Once you have prospects in your funnel, find ways to give them more valuable content at increasingly higher prices as they go through the funnel.

For example, the second level of your funnel might offer an ebook for $27 or an ecourse for $39. The third level might have a home study course for $147 or a series of teleseminars for $77 each. The fourth level might offer a boot camp for $347, and the fifth level might offer your one-on-one services for $500.

Get the picture? By the way, when you offer your products and services at different price points, you are lowering the financial and emotional risk for your prospects. You are essentially making it impossible for them not to buy from you!

7 Ways To Make Money from Your List

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

An opt-in list can be quite crucial to any site or internet based company. Even for a small venture such as a niche profit site an opt-in list can make a world of difference and also add some extra income for your pocket. Rarely would you see an e-commerce site, big or small, that is without an opt-in list.

An opt-in list allows for a company to market their wares and site via an e-mail. With an opt-in list, a site and a subscriber consents to sending and receiving a newsletter from your company. Through this, you can keep your subscribers abreast of what is currently available in your site as well as whatever is coming out.

And because there is mutual consent between the two parties, any mail sent to the list is not considered as spam mail. There is a great number of successfully read promotional materials such as catalogs, newsletters and such that are sent because the subscribers themselves have signed up for them, meaning, they do want to be sent those items.

Building a list is crucial, only a small percentage actually subscribes for an opt-in list. Many people find promotional mails annoying but of you provide a good newsletter or promotional material, you will see your list build up and grow. You can also achieve this by having good content on your site. If people like what they see and read on your site, then they surely would want more. Newsletters would be a way to attract them back to your site. A little teaser or appetizer if you will.

But other than marketing your wares and your services, an opt-in list can also be used to earn extra profit. Not all lists can be used though. It would be good to first build a successful list with a huge number of subscribers. The more subscribers you have, the more money you can get. Here are seven ways to make money using nothing more than your list.

1) Place advertisements. There are many corporations who will be willing to pay to put their banners and ads on a list with many subscribers. Selling or renting out lists is not a good idea so rather than doing that, many companies would just rather place ads with lists that have a huge subscriber base. Your newsletter could be placed with many ads and each one spells money.

2) Have affiliations with other companies that have at least a semblance or relation to what your site is about. Here other companies will provide links and brief descriptions of what they offer, products and services. With every click made on the link that directs or leads a subscriber from your list to their site, the company will pay you. This P4P or pay for performance.

3) Make deals with other companies by asking for a small percentage of sales done through your list. With every sale done by customers that have come from your list and have gone there because of your newsletter, the other company will pay you a small percentage of your sales. The more people who buys from them, the more earnings you get.

4) You may also get products from other sites on a consignment basis and sell them to your list via your newsletter. Place descriptions, articles and photos of the product in your newsletter. There will be those who will buy from you and when that happens, you can order the product from the other site and sell it to your buyer.

5) Sell e-books or a compilation of your articles on your list. Manuals and how-to articles are in great demand. Many people will be willing to shell out money to gain knowledge about a certain topic and subject. With your existing list trusting your expertise in that area, an e-book could be offered and sold or used as an incentive.

6) Create a network out of your list. Get people to invite more people to view your site and subscribe to your list. The larger your list is, the more people will be able to click on your links and affiliate links as well as make your advertisement rates higher.

7) Subscribers are willing to pay for information if they know that it can be trusted and relied upon. Use your list to get more and more people to subscribe to you as well as browse your site. Lastly, you can use your list to earn money by making them your partners. Your list will be the bloodline of your growth and increase.

8 Valuable Insights Into Paid and Free Web Directories

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Web directories have numerous benefits. Informative decisions must be made when choosing between submitting a site to a paid or free web directory. Whatever your choice, ensure that your website conforms to all required norms: complete, detailed, user friendly, and distinctive.

The options are many and stem from two main categories: free directories and paid directories.

A free directory is a great way of getting back links. Your site will probably get listed on a PR3 or PR4 page. Sometimes, your site will get listed within a few days otherwise it may even take a month. But it can also happen that the free site never gets around to listing your site. The options in the free category are numerous and one can opt for an open directory project such as DMOZ or a free directory like JoeAnt. Apart from main directories there are niche directors that are specific to one segment only like health, alternative medicine, and so on. Remember, every listing will add to the website’s Google PageRank and free directories of standing do provide a steady rate of referral traffic. Many free directories have editors who do the vetting for no remuneration; this allows the directory to include hundreds of sites at little or no cost. Directories like DMOZ are used by Google and other search engines as databases; this means that your web site will automatically be listed in several major search engines and directories.

A paid directory is one that offers premium service which includes faster approvals. Most paid directories deliver high quality traffic or a good PageRank. Less crowded than free directories, your site stands a good chance of being listed on a higher PR page. Some directories like Yahoo charge a fee for considering a site for inclusion. This is towards costs of reviewing your site and the fee is a recurring expense to be paid yearly. However, there are exceptions where non-profit sites are reviewed free but there is a special path for submission of such sites. Other sites charge a one-time inclusion fee. The costs of paid directories can vary from US $ 25.00 (one time fee) to US$ 299 (annual recurring fee).

Whether you should opt for a paid or free inclusion depends on your needs.

• Consider what is your goal?

• Determine how much immediate exposure your website needs?

• Is there time to wait for a free inclusion or would you benefit from a quick paid inclusion?

• Is there budget provision for paid inclusion: pay per click or recurring yearly expenses?

• Do you have time to assume the role of a reviewer and vet your directory before a free inclusion?

• Or, would it be more feasible to pay for a professional editor to review the web site?

• Learn how each directory is organized and what its guidelines are.

• Surf the net and find out where your competitors are listed.

Make a working plan and choose wisely what will benefit your business plan the most.

Teleseminars: A Quick Way to Cash

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

If you’re reading this ezine, it’s likely that you’ve participated in a teleseminar, whether it be mine or one of my colleagues. You’ve probably been on some that have been very good, where you got tons of really valuable information. And you may have found yourself on a few that were nothing but pitch-fests for the host’s lastest product.

But I want to share something with you. Hosting content-rich teleseminars for my target market is some of the quickest and easiest money I’ve generated in my business.

Holding FREE introductory teleseminars are a great way to promote your business, increase your email subscriber list, make more sales on your products, and enable your potential clients another way to connect with you. By being on the phone with you, they get to know you through your voice, adding the human touch that can be so hard to cultivate online.

I offer a free monthly teleseminar that gives people an introduction to what I teach. From each of these calls, I get more ezine subscribers, more members for my Client Abundance Coaching Cafe, and more sales of my 21 Easy & Essential Steps to Online Success System.

Holding PAID teleseminars helps to promote your business and generate revenues as well. I do one paid teleseminar at least every two months on a different marketing topic, and I gross a minimum of $1000 for each of these calls.

Another way to offer teleseminars is to do “intensive” or “bootcamp” series of multi-week teleseminars. The lastest type of these that I’m offering is my “21 Steps Take Action Group” 10-week teleseminars series. This is the first time I’ve offered this particular program, so the price tag was a bit lower than it will be in the future at $297. I’ve also offered 4-week ‘”workgroups” on the topics of listbuilding and search engine marketing for a lower price point but that have been very profitable as well.

Here’s what you need to get started:

1. The Right Target Market and the Right Topic

Here’s the secret for producing and profiting from a teleseminar: It must be designed for a target market AND it must solve a problem that that target market is struggling with. If you have those two keys in place, you’ll be sure to attract enough sign-ups and make money from your topic.

2. A Bridge Line

There are several good FREE bridge lines available for you to use, but the one I’m currently recommending is FreeConferenceCall.com because you can record the teleseminar for free as well. This is a nice benefit to offer your participants and to anyone who had to miss your teleseminar for any reason. I use it as a back-up recording for all my calls. You can have up to 100 people on the line with you.

3. Recording Service

You’ll need a way to record your teleseminars so you can provide the audio for people to listen to later and for you to make CDs from if you decide to package your teleseminar into a physical product later. I use AudioAcrobat to record all my teleseminars, with FreeConferenceCall.com as a back-up.

4. Automatic Registration

You’ll want to be able to have people sign up for your teleseminar without you having to do a lot of work. I use Aweber for all my teleseminar registrations, but you can also use your shopping cart’s autoresponder service if you have one.

I’d like to invite you to start offering free teleseminars to promote your business, and once you get more comfortable with both the format and the technology, start offering paid teleseminars. Even if you only have a handful of people on your first call, it’s great practice. And I guarantee your numbers will increase as you continue to build your email list, and you’ll be profiting from teleseminars in no time.

PS: These are the nuts and bolts of offering a teleseminar for your target market. Obviously, there’s a lot more to it, like…

How do I choose a topic that I know people are interested in?
How do I get people to sign up?
Where can I advertise my teleseminars?
What days and times will get me more people?
How much should I charge?

To learn MY step-by-step formula (including 4+ templates for you to follow) for producing teleseminars that REALLY make you money, see my program, How to Make Your Teleseminars Make You Money.

A Dollar In Your Pocket and A Dream

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

by Nicholas Dixon

That’s the least you need to start your own online business. Well, that’s what I started with and it doesn’t have to be different with you.

In today’s Information Age, we are bless to have such wonderful opportunities right at our fingertips. A brick and mortar business can cost you thousands of dollars to get off the ground, where as an online business can cost you zero dollars to start.

There are many companies that you can sign up and sell their products and services for a commission. They provide marketing tools, tracking software and product links all free of cost to you. You can then market for free through classified ads, articles and forums.

At sometime you will realize that you will need to invest some money in your online business to help speed up it’s growth. As they say there is no free lunch, because all these stuff are available for free that does not means your success is also free. Your dollars will be well spent and will give you a more professional appearance.

For example, I know webmasters that purchase domain names just to market their affiliate products. I have seen people like Willie Crawford published an article with a web link embedded in it which redirects you to TheRichJerk.com. This is clearly an affiliate link presented in a professional format. And that domain may have cost Mr. Crawford just a few bucks.

Sorry if I have let any cat out of the bag but that’s the way these people are making things happen. Here in my homeland of Jamaica, many are bewildered when I show them how easy it can be for them to start their own online business.

They are even more startled when they learn that they can set up a free website through Geocities or a free blog with Blogger and create a source of income. They can place pay per click ads or affiliate links on them and make some mail box money.

With economies around the world so unstable, it is imperative that you seek to create a stable source or multiple sources of income. And in today’s world the easiest way to do so is with your own online business. All you need to start is a dollar in your pocket and a dream.

Ad tracker Is Key To The Affiliate Marketer

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with affiliate.

There’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing. This is true, however, only to those are seriously and zealously working on his affiliate program. Success in affiliate marketing varies in every individual affiliate and for the most part, it depends on his will and perseverance. No matter how good an affiliate program is, it will not prosper if the affiliate marketer does not pay the price of hard work. One must exert extra effort especially on the aspect of promotion. Nothing will happen if the links or banners would just lie idle in a web page, an affiliate must be able to convince the visitor to click it and proceed to the business site to buy the products. No click-throughs means no income for an affiliate marketer.

You can actually generate a full-time income by means of affiliate marketing and you can do it at home, and yes, even while you sleep. You must have a good web site to begin with. It must have good promotional and informative contents, pleasing design, inviting banner ads and all other important elements in an affiliate marketer’s web site. It would be great if you have exhausted other means of advertising such as newsletters, email marketing, message boards and ad listings such as Google AdWords. You just have to go online once in a while to check your site and update it and to watch over the development of your marketing program. Does this sound so easy? It can be this easy if you have planned your affiliate program well and have taken all the steps towards success carefully and diligently. Now, there’s a tool you can use to help you go through the program with ease and confidence, the Ad Tracker. For many experienced and successful affiliate marketers, the Ad Tracker is a key to a successful affiliate marketing program.

What precisely is an ad tracker? It is a marketing tracking software or program that allows you to trace and take note of every click-through made by visitors of your site and by other customers who got your referral link. There are ad tracking service providers as well, so you will just have to pay them to do the tracking for you. With the ad tracker, you can keep an eye on the progress of your marketing campaigns even offline. This tool or program is especially helpful if you are engaged in several affiliate and pay-per-click programs and have placed ads in emails, pop-ups and pop-unders, message boards, auto responders, Ezines, forums, several web sites, surveys and various ad service providers.

Of course, you don’t want all your efforts to be put to waste so you want to make sure you are getting paid for your hard work. Likewise, you want to make sure every dollar or cent you disburse in your advertising campaigns is wisely spent. With the help of the ad tracker, you will know accurately how many and which of your links where clicked on, how many clicked on your links, how many of your emails were opened and how many of those who opened your email clicked through the business site and purchased a product, how many products were purchased, which of your banner ads or links brought the most leads and sales and many other pertinent facts and figures you need.

Sales records and all data stated are necessary in any business as this could determine if your affiliate program is still worth continuing. This would also help you determine which of your marketing strategies is most effective and which is most beneficial for each product or service you are promoting.

Every decision and plan you make must be well grounded on facts. That decision or plan of action may not be the best, but it is something not to regret about when you had valid reasons for coming up with such decision or plan. You cannot just decide to terminate your affiliate program, just because you don’t earn big in an instant.

If you are serious with affiliate marketing, again and again, keep in mind that your success lies mainly on promotion and your hard work. If you don’t seem lucky enough to convince many of your site users to buy the products, don’t be disheartened and jump into a conclusion that your affiliate program is a failure. If it works for others, it could work for you, too. Know whether your advertising techniques are effective or not, which works best for your program and which doesn’t. Get an ad tracker to help you know all these and you’d surely be on the right track towards success!

So now you know a little bit about affiliate. Even if you don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile: you’ve expanded your knowledge.

Do I Really Need An Opt-In Contact List?

Adsense Revenue Exposed Review

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Are you exhausted from servicing your clients, struggling to find work or overwhelmed while paying the bills? Then you need to invest some time in developing passive income. Passive income is money you make even when you are asleep or working with a client. One avenue of passive income is to partner with Google.

Thousands of businesses are paying Google to carry their advertisements on search results. You can profit from this fact by partnering with Google even if you know nothing about internet marketing. You can create content rich web sites about any topic including your hobbies, your business, current events, a blog and much, much more.

If this sounds interesting you need to read “Adsense Revenue Exposed” by Michael Rasmussena and Jason Tarasi. This e-book is a mere 29 pages and a quick and easy read:

The main chapters included in the e-book:

*Make Sense of Google AdSense – and make money!
*How much can I make with AdSense and how do I get started?
*Join the AdSense Program
*The 5-Step Plan To Success
*Summary and Additional Resources

Some of the topics covered are:

*3 reasons your website should be using Google Adsense (and nothing else) right now.
*How to keep your competitors ads from showing up on your website.
*How to let visitors search the web from your site (and profit while they do it)
*The simple mathematical formula behind Adsense that makes you cash. (And makes some Google Adsense users up to $25,000.00 a month.)
*The trick to creating a website Google will love (and will end up making you the most profits with).
*How to format your ads to get the most clicks (and cash)!
*Where to place your ads for maximum exposure (there’s a technique to it).
*5 tips to selecting super-keywords that bring in visitors that are ready to click.

The authors begin with an overview of Google Adsense and Google Adwords. Next you are lead through the steps necessary to set up Google Adsense and install it on your site to create income for you. This e-book highlights the technical aspect of setting up Adsense and getting it installed on your site. I wish this e-book had been around when I set up Adsense on my site. I would have saved so much time!

The next chapter of the e-book is a five step plan for success covers do’s and don’ts, Google rules, Adsense options, tools, scripts and additional resources. The language is non technical and there is very little jargon making it easy for everyone to read.

This e-book will help with both the inexperienced and experienced AdSense publishers. I’ve read a number of e-books lately about Google Adsense and this is one of the best.

Driving Traffic Doesn’t Have to Drive You Crazy

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Does it seem like the path to your website is completely deserted? Do you find you’re not getting hits and clicks, no matter what you try? When you visit your site, do you hear the sound of crickets? Before you do anything drastic, wait! There is an easy way to drive traffic to your site.

1) Increase Backlinks

The best way to start showing up in searches when people look for your product or service is to make sure there are plenty of links to your site out there on the Web. Google describes this process in its info pages about page rank (well, at least as much as Google is willing to describe it). The more credible websites that link back to you, the more your standing improves in search results. So, how do you increase backlinks?

2) Market Yourself

Marketing is the name of the game in online sales. The days when people might randomly stumble across your site are long gone. There are just too many websites out there for you to rely on simply “appearing” in front of anyone. That means you have to put yourself in front of those eyeballs. The easiest and most popular way to do this today is with article marketing. When you consistently market yourself using this method, you will begin to increase backlinks and start moving up in the Internet world.

3) Article Marketing in a Nutshell

Marketing yourself is easy, and it can even be fun! All you have to do is write one or two articles per week about something you know — it could be about your business, how you turned your hobby into a company, how to build a website, you name it! Then, after you’ve written your two articles and your “about the author” box, which includes your link, you’re ready for publication!

4) Getting Published Online

Now comes the tricky part. You’ve got your first two articles and you’re feeling pretty good about them. But how do you manage to get them published? Many publication sites have different parameters: One wants 65 characters per line, the other wants 70. One wants your About the Author box to use HTML, the other doesn’t. Doing all this by hand is tedious and can drive even the calmest of people quite mad. Not to mention the number of places to get published. How on earth can you find them all?

5) Use a Service

Luckily, the online community has responded to the needs of people just like you and me. There are several services out there that, for a fee, will distribute your articles to hundreds and even thousands of websites, perfectly formatted and ready to roll. That means all you have to do is write them and submit them once, then your service does the rest for you. Some of the most popular sites are Article Marketer (my personal favorite), PhantomWriters, SubmitYourArticles and iSnare.

Driving traffic to your site doesn’t have to drive you nuts. Online entrepreneurs have had years to perfect their methods, and sometimes it pays to learn from other people’s experience. Many of the best online success stories have happened thanks to article marketing. Are you ready to be next?
