Exclusive Interview: James Morrison, of 24

Last Updated: 2011/10/07

Actor James Morrison chats with BuddyTV as he explores his character on 24, his successful acting path and other endeavors, which keeps him preoccupied.

Morrison, a 52-year old native of Bountiful, Utah, is a talented filmmaker, poet, playwright and actor. He started his career in the entertainment industry as a clown for an animal circus, which he is greatly unashamed of.

Growing up, he aspired to become an actor. He eventually landed an apprenticeship with the Alaska Repertory Theatre and appeared on television shows like Frasier, The X-Files, JAG, The West Wing and Six Feet Under.

On 24, he plays the Director of the Counter Terrorist Unit, Bill Buchanan.

He started out as a guest star on the series mid-way through the fourth season of 2005 and eventually became part of the main cast in the fifth season in 2006.

His inclusion to 24 actually came as a surprise as he did not really anticipate that he would win the part, nor is he familiar with the action thriller series back then. And although he is immensely grateful he landed the part, he admits that being an actor has made him deal with difficult choices in life, especially when it comes to his family.

Nevertheless, he is overly pleased that he is part of 24. In fact, he wants to linger on the show for as long as he can. His inclusion on the series gives him the opportunity to play a character that is prudent in making decisions as a boss. Even though his character has a straight and uptight persona, he asserts that his character gives him enough challenge for him to further hone his performance. On the other hand, he doesn’t mind if he gets involved in a little action every now and then like Kiefer Sutherland’s character, Jack Bauer.

At present, he is working on a documentary film with his wife, Riad Gajayani, entitled Showing Up.

Exclusive Interview: Sarah Vonderhaar, 6th Eliminated Model on America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 8

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

BuddyTV catches another hatchet and she comes in the form of Sarah Vonderhaar, the 6th contestant to be axed on America’s Next Top Model’s cycle 8. In an exclusive interview, she talked about her Top model journey, as well as her plans after her stint on the popular reality show.

Initially, Vonderhaar opted to audition for America’s Next Top Model cycle 7 but made it to cycle 8. This 20-year old girl is actually not new to the modeling world, modeling since the age of 17. Despite her modeling experience with Elite Model Management in Chicago, Vonderhaar was still eliminated from America’s Next Top Model. While some of the judges deem her poses as unnatural, she maintains that it was just an upshot of her being used to modeling in high fashion, nevertheless she still agrees with the judges since they just wanted her to deviate from what she is used to doing.

She declares that she had a very fun time during her stay in the house with the other contestants, despite all the drama and the tension and notwithstanding the subjective editing, appearing quite pompous as she took credit for the work of other people. Although she already apologized for not acknowledging the work of the other girls, she maintains that she is not pretentious in real life.

As for the rest of the contestants, she believes that Brittany, Jael and Jaslene would end up on the top three, since they seem to be the strongest when it comes to striking poses and establishing distinct model presence.

This native of Lake Zurich, Illinois appears to be very optimistic since she plans to continue her modeling career while she simultaneously pursues photography. In fact, she enjoys doing both so much that it’s hard for her to just single out one career direction. Furthermore, she has been busy with music recording, which is also one of her interests.

Common Misconceptions about Cats

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Cats are as common as dogs, but somehow there are a lot of people who dislike cats more than they do dogs, but when asked why, their reply would be, oh, I just hate them, no particular reason. Why is it that some people dislike cats? Are they misinformed? Do they have misconceptions about the furry felines? Given a chance to change their opinions on cats, it is certain that they will find these animals just enjoyable as dogs as pets.

Since cats and dogs are the most common house pets, they are frequently compared and judged. Through these constant comparisons, misconceptions about cats are formed, and people will realize some not-so-attractive qualities about cats. But a cat shouldn’t be compared with a dog, as a dog is an affectionate animal, and requires constant love and attention, whereas a cat has a more independent character. That would be appealing to some people who prefer a pet which isn’t so demanding.

Let us now rid ourselves of the misconceptions we might have towards cats. Here are two examples which you may find familiar.

“Cats are cold towards people and have no personality.”

Yes, compared to dogs, cats are a lot less affectionate. They do not run to you with wagging tails when you come home from work to greet you, and in fact, they may even seem indifferent towards you. Therefore cats are misunderstood as being cold and would not make a great pet. But cats are very loving creatures; it is just that they have selected moments when they want to be affectionate, and it is not all the time that they want to be friendly.

Don’t misunderstand your cat’s rubbing and nestling up your leg as a sign that it’s hungry and wants food or treats. Just because they are not as affectionate as dogs does not mean that they do not appreciate some warmth and affection from their masters. Cats are more quiet creatures, and they rather chill on your lap, table areas or smuggle up next to you when they want to get some rest.

“Cats are able to handle themselves and do not need human contact”

Here is another false impression about cats which is not totally true. There may be more stray cats than dogs in your neighborhood, but it does not mean that your pet cat since birth will want to wander into the real world and take care of itself

Cats are easy to maintain, and they take care of themselves well, as we all already know. A cat, however, if well taken care of with a lot of love will be affectionate towards its master, and will want some contact with them. These are probably the most appreciated qualities about cats- low maintenance, compared to any other pets out there.

Money Flow: How to Increase It

Last Updated: 2011/10/06

Increase the flow of money into your life with these simple but powerful tips:

1. Modify what you think and feel about money; find a way to think positively and feel good about it, even if you’ve gotten yourself into a temporary jam.

2. Be open both to expected and unexpected ways to increase the flow of money.

3. Give when it feels like the right thing to do, but don’t ever do it out of guilt or due to manipulation – see #1.

4. Act when it feels right to act. If you feel genuinely afraid or have an unpleasant gnawing in your gut, trust your instincts – it usually means you still have some unfinished business elsewhere to take care of before proceeding. On the other hand, if the fear you feel is just a nervous excitement and you know in your gut you’ll be ok, it’s probably time to suck it up and act.

5. Make sure you’re following fundamental guidelines regarding money. Spend less than you earn. Go easy on the credit usage – the less the better. When you use credit, you’re lining someone else’s pockets with your future earnings in the form of interest payments. If you’re carrying debt, create a plan to get out of debt, set it on autopilot and start focusing on growing your income. After your debts are paid off (with the exception perhaps of your home mortgage) – start putting away at least 10% of everything you earn into a 401K or other investments you are comfortable with (always get professional advice before making any significant money decision and realize that you alone must make the final judgment about whether to proceed or not – everyone’s situation is unique.)

Do all of the above and your money flow will surely grow. If there is one single tip to focus on more than the others, it’s #1: feel good about money. Make your peace with it. Realize money is just a tool to be mastered and that only the misplaced love of it is the root of evil. Don’t listen to negatives stories of loss and anger about money. Feel good about sharing money when the time is right – greed is a negative emotion that will eventually block the flow of money into your life. Realize that there is more than enough money in the world to meet all your needs and the needs of everyone else around you. Don’t give your money fears the time of day – focus on building plans, taking action, having faith and feeling good about money.

Harold Perrineau, former cast member on the series Lost, reveals that he is set to return on the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning drama series.

Perrineau, a 43-year old actor, was best known for portraying Link in the Matrix movies. In addition, he was also popularly known for his character on the television series Oz where he played Augustus Hill. His other acting credits included On Line, Woman On Top, The Best Man, The Edge, Romeo + Juliet, I’ll fly Away and Smoke.

Most recently, he played the role of Michael Dawson in the first two seasons of the popular series Lost, but was written off in the entire season three.

However at the premier of the movie Meet the Robinsons, Perrineau disclosed to the public that he is presently in negotiations for his return to Lost in season four.

After his exclusion in Lost, he became preoccupied with the movie 28 Weeks Later, which is scheduled for release this year, and the CBS pilot entitled Demons. In fact, he announced that he is eager to do both Demons and Lost.

Although this appears to be quite difficult in terms of schedule configuration since Lost is generally shot in Hawaii while Demons is in Los Angeles.

With his return on Lost, another question comes into mind. How is Michael Dawson going to fit in the season four plot? So many things have already occurred and evolved since he left, it would be a quandary to know new nature of his character, having been responsible for the deaths of Ana Lucia, played by Michelle Rodriguez, and Libby, played by Cynthia Wartros.

As of the moment, there is still no word on other details of the negotiations, whether he’s coming back as a regular of just a cameo. Either way, it’s going to be intriguing to find out what’s in store for the much-awaited season four.

Heather Mills Gets Emotional on Radio Program

Last Updated: 2011/10/05

Heather Mills, the 39-year old controversial contestant on Dancing with the Stars season four shed tears – tears of joy that is on KIIS FM, a radio program hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

Even though Mills’ inclusion on Dancing with the Stars has stirred numerous controversies whether about her hazy participation on the celebrity dance show, her quitting the competition or the surfacing of online bets regarding the possibility of her prosthetic leg flying off while performing dance routines, nothing tops the charts like her bitter divorce with former husband Paul McCartney.

Because of this, the radio program mostly dwelled in the various prejudiced opinions people have formed to believe about Mills since her announced separation with McCartney, and how her detractors have now positively changed their perception of Mills. Is this the “healing effect” of Dancing with Stars? Maybe it is…

Since her inclusion on Dancing with the Stars, more and more people are having a different opinion about Mills. Some even claim that they now see Mills for the real person that she really is and not some “gold digger”

almost everyone perceives her to be. As attested by one of her detractor turned supporter, Mills actually ought to have a collective apology from the biased public. There have been so many negative remarks that surfaced the news and made her reputation very unpleasant and for that many of her critics are embarrassed over their being gullible and being easily susceptible to rumors.

Upon learning that people are now having a better insight and understanding about her, Mills wept while simultaneously expressing her delight and relief. The emotional Mills even explained that she has devoted almost all her life doing charity works and is very saddened with some people’s judgment about her being an exploitative woman and a gold digger.

Mental and Physical Stress

Last Updated: 2011/10/03

All people experience stress and anxiety in one form or another. Sometimes it can be helpful but if allowed to become chronic, it produces a physically debilitating, unhealthy and destructive mind-set that actually increases stress levels and lowers immune system efficiency.

Generally speaking, helpful stress is similar to a wakeup call that motivates one to (a) do something that needs to be done or (b) accomplish something that is beneficial and constructive. It is goal-oriented and usually contains a promise of material reward or personal attainment.

Another source of stress is that created as the result of unfortunate natural events such as floods, quakes, hurricanes, and the like.

However, in today’s fast moving and competitive world the most commonly mentioned stressful situations are usually those created as the result of day-to-day human interaction.

Since all humans are conditioned since birth by familial, social, religious and other forces, human interaction takes place within the confines of that conditioning. Because of this, the resolution or prolongation of stressful, anxiety filled situations will, more often than not, depend upon how we respond.

Some people become a bit uneasy when told that their stress problems are basically a mental condition. To them, that diagnosis suggests they are flirting with the looney bin and in some manner, displaying deficiency and lack of control.

In their view, stress is something created by someone or something outside of themselves such as a boss, co-worker, dead-end job, traffic, competition, not enough time or money, a dysfunctional family, marital issues, et al. In some cases this viewpoint may be true.

But as the saying goes, “it takes two to tango” which is a rather old-fashioned but still valid way of saying that when stress begins to negatively affect our health and the manner in which we function, we need to take a good hard look at our own participation in what is happening around us.

Granted, we all live in an over-stimulated, stressful world and in the midst of all that, it’s often difficult to maintain a sense of equilibrium. Why?

Well, much of the time, our own perspective gets in the way of corrective action. When trouble brews, we tend to stoke fires rather than put them out by allowing our emotions to inflame issues and influence how we think and act. In other words, we allow ourselves to react in a manner that actually produces more stress rather than minimizing it.

Don’t think so? Here’s a hypothetical example:

Bob works for a company that is going through some corporate downsizing and he has just discovered that a co-worker has been spreading rumors about him that are intended to discredit him in the eyes of management.

He doesn’t want to appeal to management for support because most likely, they will not be pleased with being dragged into what would appear to be a petty employee situation.

Battlestar Galactica Movie Details Emerge

Last Updated: 2011/10/02

Good news for avid followers of the SciFi channel’s hit series, Battlestar Galactica. Although the much talked about BSG prequel, Caprica, has yet to be completed, confirmation has been made regarding the equally anticipated BSG made-for-television movie, which of course, will be shown in the SciFi channel. The movie has yet to be given a title.

Parts of the film will feature events that is set some time before the holocaust, which is why screenwriter and producer Ron Moore is quick to assure fans that each and every one of the original BSG characters have been written into the film. Moreover, the film will also cover the story of Commander Cain and his crew after they survive the holocaust. In the original series, Commander Cain was portrayed by the late actor Lloyd Bridges, and no official word has come out as to who will reprise the role for the movie.

Similar to the unfinished Caprica, which, to those who are new to the show, was a planet that the Cylons attacked and left in utter devastation, the movie will have a prequel feel to it, as it highlights the days leading up to the union of Battlestar Pegasus with the fleet. Moreover, in a crossover of sorts, the film is supposed to shed some light on some storylines on the upcoming fourth season of the show. To add to the relevance of the film to the show, Moore said that that film serves as additional episodes to the fourth season, which will start airing some time next year.

The link between the show and the film has certainly made it harder for die-hard fans and interested viewers alike to miss watching the ever-popular BSG franchise. The film is set to air at least 3 months before the fourth season, giving the audience some time to ponder on what they can possibly expect from the next BSG installment.

Desperate Housewives Cast Members Play Golf for Charity

Last Updated: 2011/10/01

During March of this year, several cast members of the highly-popular television series, Desperate Housewives, participated in a friendly competition on the golf course. Even some of the show’s crew made their way to the star-studded event, perhaps wanting to show they are also capable of displaying great sportsmanship.

With the turnout of the golf game, it was pretty clear that many of those who participated were a bit rusty with the golf clubs. Actress Brenda Strong, whose portrayal of Mary Alice Young has her doing more voice work than hands-on acting, admitted to not having played the game in more than a decade, while actor Ricardo Antonio Chavira, who has become widely popular for his portrayal of Carlos Solis, was only introduced to the sport a couple of days before the event.

On the other hand, Dougray Scott, who plays Ian Kavanaugh on the show, did extremely well on the green, but did have some unfair advantage over the others. After all, he started golfing at the age of six, thanks to his father, who is also an avid golf player.

Of course, there were some celebrities who found themselves in middle of the pack. Teri Hatcher, who portrays neurotic writer and single mom Susan Mayer, and Doug Savant, who portrays unfulfilled husband Tom Scavo, did fairly well throughout the course of the competition.

To those who are wondering why the Desperate Housewives family decided to head off and battle it out on the golf course, you will be impressed to know that the event was organized not as a means to further promote the show (they don’t really need it anyway at this point in time), but to raise funds for the Casa Pacifica children’s charity. By the end of the game, the celebrities were able to give the charity thousands of dollars, which will be used to improve the quality of life of many abused, neglected and disturbed children from Southern California.

Television Broadcasting by HDTV Satellite Using The Best Technology Available

Last Updated: 2011/09/14

Are you a player in the LCD HDTV arena? And are you asking yourself what this HDTV Satellite technology is all about? The history of HDTV or high definition television is a short read. Although the technology has been available for quite some time it has not been possible to package it in an economic and viable supply until recently.
What Comprises a HDTV Satellite System?
The components of this home entertainment system would basically be rounded up as:*Television Set – HD compatible*Satellite Dish*HD Receiver*HDTV Antenna
What do you get for the money?
A large number of channels, unbeatable screen clarity and enhanced reliability with the viewing screen being restricted only by your budget or room dimensions. The competition of HDTV is the cable television network. This network although giving the customer a wide range of stations fails to provide the key factor of pristine clarity of viewing pleasure. The panel LCD or plasma HDTV not only delivers this screen viewing it also looks extremely modern in keeping with the high definition television experience.
Decision Time Using Review Ratings
The most eminent factor in HDTV ‘s favor is the excellent picture quality received from a HDTV Satellite system in comparison to other mediums available today. The broadcast from local and international sources is delivered in a high quality digital format. The impressive quantity of channels broadcasting down from the satellite to your HDTV television setis also a deciding factor.Improved satellite dish receivers which are considerably small in size in comparison to a few years back means that the satellite dish remains unobtrusively installed.
Some would argue, incorrectly, that the HDTV satellite system is somewhat affected by bad weather conditions which blocks the satellite transmission to your HDTV antenna, dish or receiver. This is not a factor as it is extremely rare to be affected by meteorological storms in the magnitude necessary to affect broadcasting reception.
The flexibility of the packages and plans available from reputable programming stations/suppliers is something you will be pleased to hear. There are plans which normally start at supplying 100 channels and can be tailor made to suit your viewing requirements. The scope and flexibility of satellite HDTV systems also includes the long forgotten medium of radio stations which may be heard from all around the world, a little more powerful than the average car radio, heard from the comfort and quality of your home HDTV audio system. The audio system that can be connected to your satellite HDTV will be reserved for another article as it is a large stand alone subject of it’s own.

The Benefits of Adult Disposable Diapers

Last Updated: 2011/09/14

Perhaps the most recognized form of incontinence absorption is the adult disposable diaper. We have all seen television advertisements for top selling brands like Depends. Adult disposable diapers are similar to diapers used by young children and are very absorptive.

Adult disposable diapers are made from gel-like polymer beads that, when dry, are very small, about the same size as table salt. When they become wet, they expand up to 800 times their original size. These beads are the key component in disposable diapers and are the reason that they are super-absorbent. Incontinence sufferers can choose from a wide range of absorbencies from light to severe incontinence. The beads, and all other materials used in the diapers, are non-toxic to humans, making for a safe and effective means of controlling wetness. Additionally, adult disposable diapers often have elastic in the leg portion that can further prevent leaking urine from escaping.

Adult disposable diapers come not only in varying degrees of absorbencies, but also in various sizes. The most commonly purchased sizes are small, medium and large. You should choose a size that will fit snugly yet comfortably. Diapers that are too large may result in an uncomfortable fit and leave room for leakage onto the body and clothing.

People who use the disposable adult diapers like them for many reasons. Firstly, they are generally more accessible and do not need to be washed and dried. There is no need for additional plastic pants. Others claim that you are better able to keep the skin dry by using a very absorptive adult disposable diaper than a reusable cloth diaper. Cloth diapers have to be changed nearly immediately after becoming soaked, which could pose a problem if you are unable to change it quickly. Disposable diapers need to be changed soon after wetting, but can handle much more absorption than their cloth counterparts.

The Lake House (2006) – DVD Review

Last Updated: 2011/09/14

Have you been searching for a romantic story that shows how an extremely self reliant woman and a self-made independent man can fall deeply in love? Even if they are really out of sync with each another? If so, then the film “Lake House” is one that you will love to watch. Set in northern Illinois on the Lake Michigan shore, the setting makes a beautiful place for two people to figure out their isolated lives and how to deal with their frustrating jobs.

Starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, this touching drama is actually based on a story retold from a Korean movie titled “Siworae”. The film is skillfully directed by Alejandro Atresti as it reveals a mystery centered around a mailbox in front of a house on Lake Michigan that somehow is able to bridge time between the two strangers.

Several years after she has moved away from her lakeside house, a loveless and lonely physician played by Bullock, begins to answer letters to a frustrated architect, played by Reeves, who currently lives in the same lakeside home, only two years into the future. After exchanging a long line of letters, both eventually learn that they are living in different times.

Through numerous life alternating events, the two devoted pen pals are only able to exchange letters with each other by writing letters to each other and putting them into the magical mailbox. Their happiness, anger, laughter, tragedies, and hopes are shared in their letters, which over time, turn them into close friends. As time goes on, they have lovers come and go, one has a father who dies, and even many birthdays pass. As the film progresses, life keeps throwing twists and turns at them, making their best layed plans to meet each other in person always slip just beyond their reach.

Sandra Bullock plays the role of a hospital doctor, with long hours whose only roomate is a cat to play chess with. She plays her role brilliantly, showing a relentless caring nature and a very easy going humor. The film covers the time in her life from a period in college, through her having a relationship with another man other than Reeves, to the point where her career become not only hectic, but extremely lonely.

Keanu Reeves brings his own brand of finesse by playing a very talented architect who endures the disapproval of his famous architect elderly father. In the film, Reeves also has a brother which dreams of opening a business with him. However, their father has always intervened to prevent them from forming their own business. In the middle of all this, Reeves displays his role’s great desire to have someone to love that will share his creative dreams and passion for life.

In the beginning of the film, neither roles played by Reeves and Bullock like each other. But as they share their letters in the magic mailbox, they eventually get more and more wrapped up in each other’s life and slowly develop a deep, lasting love the only grows stronger as the years pass by.

The Lake House was released in 2006 and is rated PG for both some strong language and some disturbing images.
